Kirby is the best!! I couldn't have done it without her. She gave me so much care, comfort, confidence and guidance to have the birth I wanted.

I had a smooth pregnancy until 35 when I found out my baby was breeched. My midwife pretty much just transferred care quickly after finding out which left me devastated. Kirby held me up when I was feeling extremely lost for who would deliver our baby. She helped me find new midwives which were a better match and she gave me so many resources to try and turn the baby as well as doctors who knew how to deliver breech babies naturally. 

My husband and I thank her so much and we will definitely be contacting her for our second baby. 

if she's available for your birth, you're very lucky to have her.

We asked Kirby to join us for our journey through pregnancy right from the very start. From her first visit in our home at 8 weeks she made us feel like we had all the support in the world. She answered all our questions about what the process looks like, educated us on all our options for different birthing practices as well as postpartum life. She explained to us how to take care of ourselves and baby leading up to the due date, and has given us endless support through our tireless 4 day birth journey, our hospital stay, and our first weeks as a family at home.Kirby spent countless hours becoming close with us and building a connection to create the most comfortable birthing environment when the day came. Kirby became more than a Doula to us; she became a life long friend. I can truly say that you cannot go wrong with the decision to bring Kirby on board for your birth. The knowledge she brings to the table and the passion she has for what she does is unrivalled. Along with being our doula Kirby also provides her love for photography as a added feature to her services. She captured one of the most memorable moments in our lives. I would highly recommend her to anyone in search of a Doula as well as a birth photographer.

I first connected with Kirby in my first trimester of pregnancy. I immediatly found her to be gentle in her approach. She would guide me to non biased, evidence based resources. I appreciated how accessible she always seemed to be, weather it be via video call, phone call or text message. Kirby anticipated topics that would be addressed at my midwives appoitments which enabled me to be have informed conversations, and stand in my own truth when it was necessary.

 Kirby was there to support and encourage me when I felt I wasnt being heard by my care providers. Due to medical reasons I was unable too birth at home but having Kirby on my team while I juggled the transition to hospital made all the difference. Kirby moved forward with unbiased support. 

 
All throughout I felt that she was guiding me to discover my own innate wisdom, what she knew to already be. Kirby helped me tap into this beautiful knowing of my own power. When it came time to birth I had the strength within me to do so without any medication. Kirby believed in me so fiercely it was impossible for me  not to believe in myself.

The post partum period has been a whirl wind, with a multitude of struggles. Kirby has been an amazing resource in my postpartum period showing compassion and empathy when it is most needed. I'm so grateful for her continued support. This journey of pregnancy, birth and early parenthood is that much richer because Kirby has been a part of it. Everyone needs a Doula and Kirby is the best there is.

Kirby has been a special blessing in my pregnancy and postpartum journey. As someone who has dealt with a considerable amount of medically-induced anxiety, the idea of bringing life into the world was tied with fear and uncertainty. From our initial visit, Kirby took the time to sit down and listen intently to my concerns and the negative thoughts that festered my belief system. Not once did she downplay my emotions or thinking patterns, but gave me the tools to realize that my body was capable of a natural, intervention-free birth. She paved the path for encouraging me to look at pregnancy from a different perspective, and the power of the female body.

Throughout my pregnancy, Kirby consistently checked-in through text to see how my husband and I were doing, and responded to my countless questions (big or small). She provided reading materials, links to evidence-based journals on natural birth, home-made herbal teas and home visits to go over birth plans and wishes. She was always punctual and ready to listen; providing support and expertise to ease any anxiety that we had. When I was faced with making certain decisions about my personal care, she encouraged me to look at alternatives and advocated for me to say no to aspects of intervention that I did not deem necessary. She gave me insight to question what was considered routine examination of my body- allowing me to speak up for my rights as a patient and what I felt comfortable with. 

Kirby was a considerable player in my decision to have a planned home-birth. During labour, I had meconium present, and my water broke many hours prior to delivery. Being GBS positive, my wishes were to forego IV antibiotics, and she was right there with me to support every decision I made. She never strayed from believing in my innate ability and intuition to birth at home without added interventions. I would have never successfully birthed my way without Kirby's unending support.

Kirby was amazing!  She was calm, confident and reassuring from the first time we spoke, to the delivery of the baby, and after-care follow-up.  

I have 3 children and this is my first birth experience with a doula.  If I have another child, I will definitely hire Kirby again.  Our decision to hire Kirby was nearing the end of the pregnancy as our baby was due during the covid pandemic.  With all of the uncertainty, I changed my primary care from my GP to a midwifery practice to have the option of a home birth.  I also hired Kirby to support me through a home birth if we went that route.  I was confident in pregnancy, had 2 easy pregnancies in the past and as we were very close to term, I wasn't ecxpecting any complications.  2 weeks out, there were complications.  This was upsetting and Kirby was an excellent support.  She remained calm, used her resources to seek out additional information where needed and went above and beyond her role in helping me to navigate the unexpected situation.  At this time, emotions were high and she frequently checked up on me, delivered freshly baked muffins and calming tea to my door.  Again, going over and above what was expected.  

When it came to the birth of the baby, Kirby responded immediately when I contacted her.  We stayed in touch and once I said that I needed her, she was at my house within in 15-20 minutes.  The birth didn't go as "planned" and Kirby handled the situation with ease and grace.  She expertly delivered my baby, while coordinating the arrival of the midwife, and making sure my needs were met.  She  intuitively knew what was needed and had everything there before I could ask - from water, to a fresh fruit platter, clean up, and watching my older kids. She adapted quickly to what was needed and on top of all of this was able to capture some beautiful photos for my family to cherish.

With this being my first baby I really didn’t know what to expect. Kirby made this whole experience ten times easier. Before I gave birth she came and talked to me and my partner and answered all of our many questions. She was always there to answer my late night texts, whenever I had lingering questions, giving us some peace of mind before this huge life change! During the birth Kirby was amazing, not only being a huge support for me but a big support for my partner! Kirby also took amazing photos for us during the birth, which we will cherish forever! Thank you Kirby, we appreciate you and everything you did for us!

Kirby’s support during the birth of our third daughter was incredible. Both my husband and I couldn’t recommend her more! Even though this was our third baby and third birth experience, nothing prepares you for how the big day will unfold and what you may be faced with. I felt reassured and safe during our daughter’s birth because of the level of support Kirby provided and I know for a fact this made for a much smoother and healthier birth experience!

Its been an absolute pleasure to have Kirby as our birth doula. Being new parents along with being in a new country we wanted someone who could guide us through the birthing process and help us understand what to expect throughout the journey. Kirby filled this role perfectly and we couldn't have been happier.

Kirby is very approachable and is always ready to answer any questions we have. She is very knowledgeable about pregnancy related stuff and was always willing to help us with any questions we had. She also helped us understand the rights we have and that we can always question the doctors about various procedures. One thing we really liked and appreciated was she backs up her opinion with data and articles and is always willing to share more information if needed. She also has a good collection of pregnancy related books in her library and was more than happy to let us borrow the books that we wanted.

Her prenatal sessions were very informative. Like most parents we were overwhelmed with all the baby stuff that is available to buy and being a parent herself she gave us several useful tips which we really appreciated. She also gave several comforting procedures and massages that we could use through the pregnancy.

Coming to the actual labor, Kirby made herself available immediately when we needed her. She was there with us at the hospital throughout the process ever since I was admitted to urgent care. She was very calm, comforting and very supportive throughout my labor. The labor was very overwhelming because of all the interventions and procedures we had to go through. She believed in me as we navigated through this and was very understanding and helpful. 

Her postpartum visit was super helpful. It was sweet of her to bring me the herbs for tea and sitz bath for my recovery that I really appreciate. Both me and my husband definitely recommend her!

I was lucky to have Kirby as my doula throughout pregnancy and attending my birth. I had been someone who knew NOTHING about pregnancy or birth and had no frames of reference aside from movies--so I had all the usual fear and anticipation of something painful and awful at the end. Kirby spoke with me about every aspect, lent me books that were pertinent to me, and recommended an excellent prenatal class as well. Throughout all this, I received complete information about every decision and possibility in pregnancy and birth that I might face- tests, interventions, inductions. Processing it all during very chill and enjoyable hangouts with Kirby, I was able to make the most well-informed decisions that were best for me personally on every little thing. I formed a very clear vision of what my birth could look like and had autonomy in choosing it. 

By the time my baby was ready to come, I felt completely ready for the experience and no fear. During our home birth, Kirby was so calm and supportive, intuitively knowing exactly how much space or assistance I needed. She was both barely there and simultaneously assuring everything went smoothly, keeping the environment quiet and the light low, ensuring I stayed hydrated, clearing my path or assisting me physically if necessary. My partner and I were able to maintain our own calm and confidence in everything that was happening because of Kirby's gentle reassurance. 

After the birth she fed me special teas and nourishing broth and left me with herbs for healing sitz baths. She was in communication after to help with breastfeeding and emotional support. I honestly could not have had a better birthing experience and Kirby was a huge part of that. She is kind, open, informed, and cares so much that women have positive birth experiences. She's a natural care-taker in the best way, and I felt lovingly taken care of before, during, and after birth. I'm incredibly grateful.

I have had the pleasure of having Kirby in my life for the last couple months as I have transitioned into motherhood for the first time. She has been an absolute blessing as I had no idea how hard breastfeeding and postpartum could be. She was available 24x7 to answer my questions over text which has been absolutely invaluable to me as I navigate this new world of motherhood. She is calm, responsive, reliable and extraordinarily helpful; she just knows what I need help with without me even asking. My daughter really likes her. We call her our ”baby whisperer” because when she is around my daughter is calm and just sleeps. On top of her postpartum knowledge, she is an excellent cook and housekeeper (and I have been told throughout my life that I have very high standards). I would highly recommend Kirby and a postpartum doula to any new mother and especially anyone like me that does not have a strong local support network. She has made the hard parts of becoming a mom easier and at the same time helped introduce me to my new community of Tsawwassen and made it feel more like home. Thank you, Kirby!!

I can't imagine what our birth would have been like without Kirby. In pregnancy, her wealth of information and ability to assuage fears was invaluable. During labor, her calm confidence and gentle support made me feel completely safe and cared for from beginning to end. I was amazed at how she could perfectly read the situation (often based only on the sounds coming from my partner in the bathroom!) and act swiftly and accordingly. Kirby constantly made us feel that she believed in us. Postpartum, she was always there to answer any questions and provided helpful tools to facilitate a comfortable, healthy start.

I would highly recommend Kirby as a doula . She’s

thoughtful , patient , just an awesome person to be around .

she connected with my 4 year old son really well , kindly brought me a meatloaf when I hadn’t even asked for Food. It was great because I was tired and had not even thought of dinner yet . She goes above & beyond , supported me and helped me a lot with my breastfeeding issues . I would hire her again, and highly recommend her !

Kirby has been amazing to with. She has helped ease my anxiety furing pregnancy and since my sons been born. She is very knowledgable and always willing to answer my questions. I honestly don't know what I would have done without her. I would reccomend her to anyone looking for someone who they could truly rely on and trust to support them through this life changing time.
