Having Beck was the best possible decision we made for the birth of our baby.   I never would have expected that we would have such a dire need for her, since we had a team of midwives, but she was just as important, if not more so to us keeping calm while going through 71 hours of labor. She was with us the longest and took the burden off of my partner and I to need to do anything more than concentrate on getting through contractions and birthing our baby.  If I were have another, I absolutely want to have her there again.  She came to us at the end of my pregnancy and brought up so many things we hadn’t thought of, nor had been brought up by our midwives.  She facilitated getting my partner and I on the same page for laboring and birth.  I am able to fondly look back on a long  and difficult labor because I was never worried or scared becauee I knew, and completely trusted that I was in good hands and me and my baby were being taken care of.  I am so grateful.

Undivided, loving attention is a rare commodity these days. Even doctors and nurses who are there for your health and well-being are strained by long hours and the quantity of patients and their needs. This is where Beck is an invaluable resource in the most intimate time of your life: birthing your child. Beck made all the difference for me. She shifted my birth experience from "just another routine birth" in the hospital setting to a memorable experience I have to keep with me and my baby for the rest of my life. Her care and concern for my needs, comfort, and well-being was everything. Tough decisions had to be made and she was there to help us make the best ones. She was there to hold my head up in the warm shower as my body lost stamina. She pushed her hands and body weight (for hours) into my lower back as the intensity of contractions increased (trust me, this is the only way you'll want to be touched.) There were always warm or cool towels for my head and new positions suggested when I couldn't think anymore. She never left my side as I went through almost every shift of staff the hospital had. It was a whirlwind. And yet through it all, I got the birth I wanted. Every mom deserves a doula at their birth and they would be so lucky if they get to have Beck there by their side. I would recommend Beck a million times over.
