In early 2019, Lauren participated as a doula mentee during the birth of our first child. We were very happy with the service and support that she provided. Even though not required for a doula mentee, she met with us at our convenience ahead of time, to make sure that we get to know each other and that we feel comfortable for her to be observing and supporting our birth. We liked her calm personality and enthusiasm in helping others in the motherhood journey. The birth was a scheduled induction, which took much longer than expected to start. Lauren and the other doula arrived at the right time when we needed the most support. She was observant, nonintrusive, but knew what to do and when to help. Her calm presence was comforting. They provided me much needed encouragement towards the end when I was exhausted and worried about not making enough progress in pushing. She stayed till after the birth, and helped move me to the postpartum room, and made sure that I was comfortable and receiving good care from the staff. They also made sure I got started on pumping within 2 hours of the delivery to stimulate milk production. It was very helpful to have Lauren as a doula during this hard and rewarding experience.

Lauren was great! Stayed with us from beginning to end, even with the 'complications' of a very prolonged labor for me. She supported my decisions 100% I felt very supported and comforted and like she was giving all the effort she had. Highly recommend her! My little family, and perfectly healthy 7 month old little girl are very grateful for her expertise and guidance. She helped make my first birth a most wonderful and positive experience! Will absolutely use her and Boston Doula Circle again when we're ready for number 2! Thank you!

I had the pleasure of working with Lauren this past summer when having my first child. Although I contacted Lauren kind of late in the game, she was very responsive and helpful with all of my questions in the last trimester. One thing that I really loved about Lauren is that when she didn't have an exact answer for me she found the research for me and brought me into the process of figuring out my own answers to questions. But obviously the most important part was her actual attending of my birth, and for this help I could not be more grateful. Lauren arrived at the hospital just when I was transitioning into active labor and more painful contractions and without her help I would not have been able to stick to my plan of having a natural childbirth. One thing that I was worried about, was the effect of having a third person apart from my partner attending my birth, but she was so supportive, unintrusive and had great recommendations throughout the labor for reducing pain. I can honestly say that without Lauren's help I would not have had the dream birth that I did and the speedy recovery that I've had. I highly recommend Lauren. She is very professional, responsive, kind-hearted and will help you meet your goals for your birth!

I highly recommend Lauren as a doula. We just had our first child and my husband and I were looking for someone who could support us both throughout the process. Lauren was perfect. Starting at about 36 weeks I started having extreme pelvic pain and Lauren had many helpful tips to help aliviate that pain. During labor Lauren met us at our home and helped us decided when to go to the hospital. At the hospital she helped my husband support me and suggested various useful laboring positions. My labor did not go according to my plan (surprise surprise) and Lauren made sure that I understood each decision that had to be made. She was supportive of the decisions we made, didn't push her own opinion, and constantly worked to make me as comfortable as possible. She has a positive attitude and a sense of humor and we highly recommend her services.

Lauren attended the birth of my son in May 2019 as a doula mentee and she provided a calm, steady presence at my side. Although the plan was to labor at home for as long as possible with Lauren and the other doula, my labor progressed too quickly for that. I labored at home for less than an hour before rushing to the hospital, where Lauren met us. By the time I arrived at the hospital I was already 8cm dilated. My contractions were coming very quickly on top of each other. Lauren was very supportive and encouraging as I rode those intense waves. She was ready with cool wash clothes and suggestions for comforting positions during my active labor.

When I transitioned to pushing, my son’s heartbeat dropped too low and I felt the energy from the hospital staff switch into more of a frantic mode. It was very scary for me. All of a sudden the room filled with more hospital staff, and I switched from feeling in control of my body to feeling trapped by the addition of an IV line, oxygen monitor, and oxygen mask. Lauren stayed calm during this time, providing reassuring strength with her voice and steady hold of one of my legs (my husband was holding the other one). My son’s heartbeat returned to a normal range after two vacuum attempts and I was able to push for another two hours. During that time I was becoming exhausted, but Lauren helped provide encouragement and seemed to intuit when I needed things like a new cool washcloth on my head or a sip of water. It was invaluable to have Lauren’s steadiness and support in the room.

I highly recommend Lauren. Not only did she provide calm and strength during labor and delivery, Lauren also provided encouragement and helpful advice post-partum.
