Here is what a client named Harmony has to say about working with April:

April saved my youngest twin daughter's life, leading me to not give up on getting real answers on what could be wrong, when all of the hospital doctors wouldn't believe me that something seemed wrong with her (turned out she had been internally injured by the hospital staff and required emergency surgery or else she would have died within 12 hours). April also supported me through pregnancy, labor, and in postpartum recovery, with organic fruit, drinks, meals, essential oils, relaxing lighting, and encouraged me emotionally, pushing me to stand up for myself and to do what's right for me and my babies.

April offered soothing massages, wellness visits, and postpartum support. She attended my failed 37 week Pitocin induction, and came during my actual spontaneous (thanks to castor oil) labor with identical twins at 41 weeks and a day. She has been an out-of-this-world Doula, truly Amazing, and has been the MVP during my challenging SIUGR HG-ridden twin pregnancy.

After a relaxing birth center birth, I was rightly terrified of birthing in the hospital OR (required for twins in FL), especially being a woman of mixed race (AKA higher mortality rate in US hospitals), and had bad experiences with multiple doctors until finding a great MFM, and April stood by me the entire time, helping to give me the strength and determination to not settle for less than the best, nor to allow the cascade of interventions to begin.

I would hire April over and over, again, 1000x over, and only regret not spending more time with her when she had offered to visit with me during my pregnancy. If you want the BEST and most experienced mama supporter and guide in your hospital, home, or birth center birth, then you have found the perfect doula. I'm so grateful for everything April has done to help me during my twin pregnancy. She is so amazing and cannot ever be thanked enough. She loves what she does and it shows and shines brighter than the sun in July.

Here is what a client named Margaret Van Kampen has to say about working with In Joy Birth :

A long overdue, trifecta review! Heather, Alyssa, & Madeline have all helped us bring our 3 little girls into this world and will always be a special part of our families story. We were hesitant to hire a doula in early 2020. The cost, would they have their own agenda, would my husband feel like he got overshadowed. Injoy birth surprised us at every turn. There is nothing more valuable I can think to spend for a new baby and family than doula services. They truly want you to reach your own birth goals even if those change at 8 cm. My husband was included and cared for almost just as much as me and he has learned so much about how to support me during labor, which has been so special.

Heather was the doula on call for our July 2020 birth, peak of Covid. Even though she couldn’t be present at the hospital birth she got creative and supported us via FaceTime, text, phone call, and she assisted us with early labor at home. She has a talent for reading the room, getting creative and reacting under pressure. The work she does in the Orlando community shows how caring and passionate she is for the birth community.

Alyssa was on call for our 2022 birth. To say she is a calming presence is putting it lightly. When she is in the room it feels like nothing will go wrong. She is knowledgeable and experienced, but always encourages you to think for yourselves and outsources to other professionals when appropriate. Our 2nd birth could not have been more peaceful & harmonious.

Madeline was on call for our 3rd birth in 2023. She met us at the hospital entrance, talk about service! She was there absolutely every step of the way. Every contraction, every hip squeeze, reminding my husband to eat & rest, voicing her valuable opinion when the drs talked about sending me home. Madeline will put in the work for your family. She created such a peaceful atmosphere to birth in and collaborated with hospital staff so effortlessly.

Here is what a client named Sarah M. has to say about working with Vonda:

My husband and I decided to hire a Doula a bit reluctantly, not knowing what we needed or how beneficial it would be. When I met Vonda, I immediately got this sense that she was caring and compassionate but also very competent and confident in her work as a Doula. Regardless of whether our goal was to deliver at home, a birth center, or hospital, she was willing to support us and our choices and not try to impose opinions on us unless we asked for them. What I also loved about hiring her, was that she would be the consistency in my care from prenatal to delivery to postpartum.

This birth was going to be with my second child but I was hoping to have a successful VBAC birth, so everything about labor/birth would be a new experience for me. She met with us twice during my 3rd trimester. Those meetings were incredibly informative and brought us so much peace. She talked with us about our birth plan and let us know what our options were, taught my husband and I physical comfort techniques that could be helpful during labor, and educated us on the birth process- what happens to my body and to my baby. Having the ability to contact her anytime after we hired her to get her input and feedback was so helpful. My husband wanted to be as involved and helpful as he could but he also didn't know what to expect and I didn't know what I would need. He really appreciated everything Vonda taught us beforehand, but then also having her with us during the birth to help him help me and to be our voice at the hospital since she knew our wishes and could speak for us while my mind was focused on having my baby and my husband was focused on me. Aspects of everything she prepared us for came into play when labor started; I can't imagine going through labor/birth without having been as prepared as I felt, even when I still didn't know what to expect.

Hiring Vonda as our Doula was worth every penny! I would highly recommend her to any mama AND her support person.
