Andi is incredible! She was my daughter's doula and I am so thankful that she was! My daughter went through 39 hours of labor and Andi stuck by her side. Andi helped in so many ways, supporting my daughter throughout the labor and keeping an eye out to make sure that hospital staff were following my daughter's wishes and not their "agenda". Andi was not afraid to intervene and speak up when nurses were not following the birth plan. Andi even stayed overnight at the hospital to be at my daughter's side. I am so appreciative that Andi was there, watching out for and helping my daughter. She was such a blessing.
We were so glad to get to know Andi throughout this pregnancy and birth experience. If you are looking for a doula who is thoughtful and sensitive then Andi is the match for you. She worked hard to customize everything she did to what I needed and preferred. We met multiple times before the birth to get to know each other and connect. At the birth, she knew when I needed space and she knew when it was my husband who needed support. She ordered food for us and even made a run to the grocery store when I was craving pineapple! It felt like having a good friend there who could do the helpful things, who could talk to my midwife for me about how things were going, all of which allowed my husband to focus on being my emotional support. After the birth, Andi visited us and brought us a meal and helped me figure out breastfeeding. She's a very sweet person and I'm thankful we had her!
Andi was a wonderful doula! Before our birth she made sure she understood my preferences and learned about my experiences from my first child. During labor she knew when to step in and help, knew when to hang back and let my husband help, and communicated with the midwife for us. She’s knowledgeable in hynobirthing techniques and helped with counter pressure when I had back contractions. She made sure I stayed hydrated and rested and as comfortable as possible. I finally got the natural water birth I wanted with Andi’s help!
Andi was an amazing doula! 5 star easily :) If we hadn't known we were the first family she had worked with, we would have thought she had been doing this for years. It all seemed to come so naturally for her. She was very caring & encouraging. And even with a very long labor, she never once let on how tired she probably was and never faltered in her level of care. We had to do a transfer from the birth center to the hospital & although it was an unexpected turn of events for all of us, she didn't seem fazed one bit & carried on. She was super supportive to my husband as well, asnwering all of his questions & guiding him in the best way to support me. She helped me through contractions reminding me how to breathe, suggesting positions that would be more effective, & holding my hand. I was so tired that I didn't always know what questions to ask the doctor or nurses & she stepped in many times, communicating things with them that would have slipped my mind. She made sure I stayed hydrated & when labor got really intense, she kept bringing a cold rag for my neck and/or forehead to cool me down. I was really impressed too when I saw her making sure all of our personal belongings stayed organized & together and placing any necessary papers in our bag for us later so that they would not get lost in the shuffle. She took candid photos for us of the first precious moments as a new family & we cherish having those memories captured. After we were settled at home, she came for a follow-up visit, brining baked oatmeal & encouragement for the new journey of motherhood. I would recommend her to anyone & everyone!
