I love home births! I worked with a home birth Midwife for about a year in the Chicago land area.
Free initial consult, two 90 min prenatal visits, on call from 38 weeks, unlimited phone support, continuous labor, birth, and immed postpartum support, home visit around two weeks PP, and breastfeeding support. Having worked as a labor and delivery nurse for 15 yrs in the hospital setting and a year in home births, I have seen the value of education and continuous support for mothers and their partners. Doulas are well recognized as a significant factor in ensuring optimal health outcomes and birth satisfaction for you and your newborn. I will be the one birth professional who consistently remains with you and your partner throughout the birth process. With my L&D background and Evidence Based Birth® Instructor training, I can help you maintain a family-centered environment in your labor room that unifies your birth team around supporting your wishes. $300 discount for couples who have taken approved childbirth education.

My husband and I attended Bobbi Jo Bush's evidence based birth classes. Bobbi Jo was warm, knowledgeable about her field, and always willing to take the time to answer all of our questions about the pregnancy through delivery process. She also gave us insights from her own extensive background of Obstetrics nursing. She helped me, a first-time mom, to process my concerns and check my fears of the birth process and post-term pregnancy. She reassured me when I was anxious about being overdue and gave me the tools to communicate effectively with my doctor and care team when my birth plan had to change to prevent complications with my baby. She guided my husband in how to be a great labor coach and gave us tips to cope with contractions and the side effects of labor. All in all, I would absolutely recommend Bobbi Jo Bush as a birth instructor because of her caring nature, wealth of knowledge, and ability to put people at ease.
Bobbi Jo is just what the midwife ordered:
One of the highest compliments that a nurse can give is to specifically request another to care for their family. My husband and I are both experienced nurses, and we want Bobbi Jo at all our births. Her warm, calm, caring demeanor and wealth of experience were incredibly instrumental in how well my labor and delivery progressed, resulting the healthy birth of our beautiful daughter. As nurses, it was important to us to choose childbirth classes that actually were based on solid research and best practices, and first met Bobbi Jo as our teacher for Evidenced Based Birthing classes. She was so relatable and made me so comfortable that she felt like family by the end of the class. We actually had already put a down payment on another doula, but we loved Bobbi Jo so much we hired her instead. She checked in with me weekly at the end of my pregnancy and had very helpful suggestions. She also checked on me about a week postpartum, which was a sweet way to wrap up our time together by celebrating my daughter.
On the big day we called her to help labor at home, where she helped me deal with contractions using the many techniques we had practiced in class and helped me stay distracted so I didn’t get stuck in a rut. In the delivery room, even the hospital staff were impressed with her knowledge and later told us our delivery support team was one of the best they had seen in a long time (she kept my husband on track and focused). Her experience and people skills were evident in how seamlessly she integrated with the midwife, nurses, and our family. Baby was born without needing a single medication or procedure. Simply put, Bobbi Jo has our full endorsement as a skilled and personable doula, and she’ll be getting a call if/when we are getting ready to deliver again (gotta survive this little baby for a while first).
We had a great experience with Bobbi Jo as both our childbirth educator and doula. Her compassion, professionalism, expertise, and friendliness make working with her a joy! The birth education classes were thorough, interactive and fun! My husband and I loved learning about birth from an evidence based perspective and Bobbi Jo brought her own expertise and experience to the class which was invaluable. She was also extremely accommodating, finding a location and time for the class that worked with our schedules. As a doula, Bobbi Jo was extremely supportive, a great listener, and ultimately helped us to achieve the birth experience we were hoping for. She made herself available by phone and email and welcomed any questions we had. She also provided recent research when applicable and supported us in looking at the whole picture to make decisions which were best for our family. When I went into labor, Bobbi Jo came to our house to help me labor, joined us at the hospital, and provided breastfeeding support immediately after our son was born. She also provided emotional support in the days after the birth by checking in on us via phone and an in person follow up visit. We are so grateful for the opportunity to work with Bobbi Jo, it made all the difference for our birth experience!
Bobbi Jo exceeded our expectations as a doula! We were on the fence about hiring one, but then we met Bobbi Jo in our natural child birth class and instantly saw the benefit of having her on our "birth" team. She is highly knowledgable about natural pain relief techniques and listens and respects your birth experience wishes no matter what they are.
Bobbi Jo provided support to us prior to labor, during labor and even did a home visit with us the first week we were home with our son. Prior to the birth, she helped us identify what was important to us, suggested ways to manage pain and encouraged us to advocate for ourselves as patients. During labor she helped our voices be heard by amplifying them with medical staff, suggested labor and birthing positions as well as supported both my husband and I throughout the whole experience.
Looking back, we can't imagine going through the birth experience without Bobbi Jo. Our son was born 3 weeks early -- to our surprise -- and Bobbi Jo didn't miss a beat. She was there for us from the first phone call, to arriving at the hospital and post-partum. We seriously can't thank her enough!
We hired Bobbi Jo for the birth of our first child. From our very first meeting, she put us at ease with her positive, kind personality and her knowledge of birth. She worked to truly get to know my husband and I. To provide us with the best possible care, she was not only interested in our birth preferences, but in each of us as people and how we connected as a couple. During our meetings, she shared a wealth of information, strategies to practice for labor support, research to make informed decisions, and answers to our specific questions. The day of delivery Bobbi Jo arrived promptly, ready and eager to offer support in any way we needed. She helped me understand my options and advocate for myself at a few necessary points during labor, allowing me and my body to have a more positive, natural response. She created a supportive, encouraging atmosphere, helping me try different positions for pain relief and offering continuous words of affirmation. She also supported my husband by talking through different suggestions and options and showing him how to support me, allowing him to be a confident, active partner in the labor process. Bobbi Jo worked seamlessly with the hospital staff to ensure a safe, smooth delivery, as well. She also stayed at my bedside after delivery to provide support for the baby's first feeding and other postpartum needs. After delivery, she checked in with me multiple times to ensure I was supported in any way I needed. Hiring Bobbi Jo as our doula was one of the best decisions we made for our birth, and I would strongly recommend her to anyone looking to have a positive, supportive birth experience.
My husband and I met Bobbi Jo during our Natural Childbirth Classes. She was our teacher and taught us more than we ever thought possible! Her knowledge on childbirth is incredible and her passion is amazing to witness. When we found out that Bobbi Jo was a doula, we knew that we needed her on our labor and delivery support team! Prior to our delivery, we met with Bobbi Jo two times and she provided us with even more information and support. During my stay at the hospital (prior to active labor), she was "on-call" and answered all of our questions via text and phone calls...as well as giving us the mental support that we needed. When she decided that we wanted her to join us in the hospital, she arrived within the hour and started supporting us right away. During labor, she helped with pain managment (postions, massage, heating pad, imagery, etc.), supported my husband and mother, reminded us of the path we wanted to take, and helped us achieve our number one goal...a natural, medication-free labor. During our stay in the hospital after labor, Bobbi Jo kept in contact and continued to provide support. When we returned home, she reached out to us with even more support via text and a home-visit (she even brought us dinner and gave us a printed time-line of our labor and delivery). Bobbi Jo was exactly what we needed and we HIGHLY recommend her to everyone. We will forever be grateful for Bobbi Jo and will never be able to thank her enough.
