Shanylle became my doula the moment I told her I was pregnant with my second, it just happened so naturally. I had a lot of trauma and fear from my first birth that I was not willing to carry with me this time around. Though I was determined to be as present and immersed in this pregnancy and birth as possible, I faced a lot of moments when I felt defeated. The feeling never lasted when I would speak to Shanylle. There was never a moment where she judged me for my emotions, or made me feel like less of a woman. She always encouraged and supported me in whatever my beliefs were. What meant the most to me was the overwhelming concern for my mental and emotional well being, and the rawness of our conversations. Shanylle always keeps it 100. I had never felt so supported by a woman in my life.
Having Shanylle during my labor just felt so right. She somehow managed to remain present and supportive even in silent observation. I felt safe in her presence. I felt at ease, knowing I can work through contractions on my own while she quietly watched over me. She always knew exactly what I needed, exactly when I needed it without me saying a word. Towards the end when things got intense, her kind and gentle hands moved the contractions out of my body faster. I didn’t even know massage could do that!!! It got to a point where I only wanted her touch and no one else’s. There’s no doubt in my mind that this woman was born to do birthwork. The bond Shanylle and I developed over this experience is incredible. I know I have a friend for life.

Shanylle was amazing in every way possible. Not only was she available via text message when I had questions leading up to labor, she was also there for me after. She’s checked up on me since my baby has been born as well. When I was in early labor Shanylle made sure I was always comfortable and understood what was happening With my body at all times. She had heating pads and scents with her to make the mood lighter. She was just a gentle spirit to have in the room with me when I needed support. I would have her with me everytime if I could.
