Marian Shaw

Our son Logan is now 5 months old and I wanted to write this letter of recommendation for Kaya to tell you how she has saved us since Logan was 7 weeks old. She has been the best thing (aside from our son ??) to come into our lives and has helped in many ways, not just with Logan. A little background on how I came about desperately needing a night doula and Kaya coming to our rescue. Logan decided to come a month early and lost weight below the recommended threshold. Because of this, our pediatrician advised us to force feed every 2-3 hours, so he can start gaining weight. You can only imagine how stressful the situation was at the time and the lack of sleep is beyond toxic, not just to one’s health but also to a couple’s relationship. I didn’t realize how bad the sleep deprivation had gotten until I met with my doctor who diagnosed me with borderline postpartum depression. She said I needed to get help immediately, either from family or a doula. Unfortunately, neither my partner nor I have family who are local, so we immediately started seeking for a postpartum night doula and met Kaya. Upon meeting Kaya, I instantly knew she would be a good fit for us. Not only did have a gentle touch with Logan, but my well-being was also important to her. She offered to start that same day we interviewed her! I gladly accepted her offer and she has been nothing short of wonderful since then. Aside from feeding and caring for Logan, Kaya would also occasionally make us breakfast, help fold the laundry, and wash dishes. It was one less thing to worry about during the day! She routinely comes earlier than her scheduled work start time, which I truly appreciate as it gives us a chance to bring her up to speed with Logan and not dip into our rest time ??. She has been our life saver and I can’t imagine how I could have functioned as a person, much less be a good mother due to sleep deprivation, had she not been there for us. Best, Marian
