Working with Laurie Ann at LAF Doula was one of the best decisions I made during the pregnancy and postpartum journey. We felt prepped for the birth of our beautiful daughter with their guidance leading up to her due date. She provided so many resources, educational classes, zoom meetings, and was always available to answer any questions. After our daughter was born she was always by our side to help along the way. It brought confidence into our home during a time when everything was so new. Their services are tailored to make you feel the most comfortable and are available day and night, truly 24-7. My experience breastfeeding was so wonderful due to her knowledge and guidance. I’m so very thankful and would recommend LAF Doula over and over again.

Working with Laurie Ann and Dani made the transition to the fourth trimester more manageable. As a first time mom, I had no idea what to expect and how challenging the transition could be. We are so grateful for Laurie Ann and Dani’s knowledge, support and commitment to pushing us to our breastfeeding goals. I always felt empowered and rested after our sessions. They tailored the coaching to what I needed in each moment and supported me when I felt down. Our family could not be more grateful for Laurie Ann and Dani during this time!

Working with Laurie Ann & Dani was the best decision we made in preparation for postpartum! Laurie Ann’s knowledge about breast feeding and milk management was extremely beneficial. She helped us through all the ups and downs of proper latch, weight gain, milk management, etc. Dani kept all of our correspondence organized and they were both very responsive. The overnights are an added benefit when some extra sleep is needed. Such a great team! I’d highly recommend to anyone considering hiring them!

I truly don't know where I would be in my nursing / sleeping / breast-feeding routine if it weren't for Laurie Ann. She came and spent the night with us our very first night home from the hospital. Never having known much about doulas, especially Post-partum doulas, I didn't know what to expect. Laurie spent the evening ensuring I immediately started off on the right track. She got me on a schedule, set realistic expectations, gave me immeasurable breast-feeding advice and tips, helped my husband understand his role, explained the products in my nursery, and treated my newborn son like he was her own family. I am now 2 weeks in and I am feeling great and sleeping as much as I could possibly expect to!! HIGHLY Recommend!

With my first child, I called LAF (Laurie Ann and Dani) in a panic because breastfeeding was off to a dumpster fire start. Due solely to their coaching, my breastfeeding journey quickly turned around. I breastfed my daughter for 10 months and could not have had a better experience – both physically and mentally. When I found out I was pregnant with my second (the day before my daughter’s first birthday) LAF was one of the first to know (because I wanted them on my team again for round 2!) I knew that the second time around would be a bit different because my husband was in the middle of a deployment cycle. He got home from being gone for six weeks one week prior to me giving birth and will leave again (for 7+ months) very soon. I told Laurie Ann and Dani that I not only wanted to start strong with breastfeeding but wanted to build a large storage supply early on so that the pressure was off a bit when he deployed. Six weeks postpartum, I have 750+ ounces of breastmilk stored due to the plan that LAF put in place (in addition to feeding my baby girl who is growing faster than her growth curve!) The Elvie Curve made collecting this much breastmilk possible – this product was not available with my first daughter, and I could not recommend it more! LAF is a MUST if you are a first, second, third+ time mom in the Hampton Roads area. Seriously – I refer to them as my Fairy Godmothers. So incredibly thankful for their mentorship and love!

Within the first few weeks of finding out we were pregnant again, we knew we needed to reserve Laurie Anne’s services immediately. She was so helpful with our first child and we knew we would need the additional support with our new baby. The overnight visits assured us of a good nights sleep and could sleep soundly knowing Jack was in good hands. Laurie Anne and Dani were an abundance of knowledge and recommendations both in person and over the phone. They were able to work with us to add more overnights when we found ourselves on need.

I could not thank Laurie Ann more for all of her help! I could not have done it without her. I can completely understand why new moms quit breastfeeding. It is so hard. But because of Laurie Ann’s help, I feel so confident in it and am so glad I can feed my daughter with the best food for her. Not only did Laurie Ann help me with breastfeeding, she answered so many other questions about poop, belly buttons, rashes, and so much more. She was also an amazing support system and reassured me that I am the best mom for my baby. Being a new mom is so emotional, and Laurie Ann new exactly what I needed to hear to help me regain focus on my baby and feel like I was doing what I was supposed to be.
I also can’t forget about Dani! Dani helped me SO much during my pregnancy getting my registry together - because let’s be honest, who even knows you need half the stuff you need? She also helped me get together a hospital bag checklist which was immensely helpful in the midst of chaotically packing my hospital bag.
I could not be happier with the services that were provided to me! I highly recommend Laurie Ann’s Postpartum Doula Services!

I really could not recommend Laurie Ann anymore! We contacted Laurie Ann 4 days after my daughter’s birth due to challenges with breastfeeding. My goals of breastfeeding appeared to be in a downward spiral until Laurie Ann showed up (24 hours after we contacted her!) My daughter had never latched and within one three-hour visit, Laurie Ann had us exclusively breastfeeding. Laurie Ann really worked wonders! Additionally, Laurie Ann helped us develop a milk supply plan so that when I return to work, we are set-up for success. We also had Laurie Ann over for 2 overnight visits and a follow-up. Each of these visits gave my husband and I something we desperately craved whether it was confidence in taking care of our daughter or much needed sleep or time together. Do yourself a favor and hire Laurie Ann prior to your child’s arrival. I can honestly say that she is worth her weight in gold! Thank you thank you THANK YOU Laurie Ann! You are such a blessing.

We had an amazing experience with Laurie Ann. I am so happy that I chose the get you started package. I would recommend her postpartum doula services to anyone. She is so knowledgeable and really customized my visits to everything I wanted and needed. The unlimited virtual assistance, just by itself is worth everything... not to mention you get 5 in person visits! Being a new mom and not knowing the rollercoaster of emotions and pain that you go through, the emotional support that Laurie Ann gives is just amazing. After our service, I would consider her as part of our family and there is no one I trust more with our baby.

I had no idea what to expect when I first heard about a postpartum doula, but having Laurie Ann help my husband and I transition as new parents was unbelievably helpful. I had read books and blogs and thought I was relatively prepared for new-motherhood, but there was so much that I didn’t realize I didn’t know. I was quickly overwhelmed but Laurie Ann was a life saver. She learned our goals as new parents and was encouraging and reassuring every step of the way. She helped me with breastfeeding and pumping. She helped us devise a plan for sleeping so my husband and I could both get some rest. She got us on a schedule so our little family could thrive. I am so grateful for her services. I will be recommending Laurie Ann to every new or expectant mom I know!

Laurie Ann was referred to us by local friends as a ‘must-have’ for making the transition from the hospital to the nursery. She not only met with us ahead of our delivery date to create a plan tailored to our needs, but she was there at the hospital when the big day came. At the hospital she was right there with us in getting into the proper positions for feedings as well as building the feeding/sleeping routine. I cannot say enough good things about Laurie Ann and her services. - Emily & Jon

I had my babies long before Laurie Ann was an official Doula, but her passion to help new mothers existed even back then. As a friend, she came to my house after I came home from the hospital and helped get me settled in, offering baby feeding and bathing support, as well as support for ME and my wellbeing. I can personally attest to her love and compassion, as well as her extensive knowledge and advice. I can only imagine how much more helpful she is able to be now! As new moms, we are often caught up in the excitement (or exhaustion) of everything new baby that we don't realize we need support, or don't know where to get it even if we know we need it. This is where a postpartum doula can be a lifesaver. Even if you think you know it all, you don't! Parenthood is an ever evolving process that is often different for every child. As moms, we want the best for our babies, and one of the best things we can do is to take care of ourselves! Do yourself a favor, and consider Laurie Ann for your Doula needs! You won't be disappointed!

I have known Laurie Ann for what feels like my whole life. Her and my mom are best friends which meant I grew up with her children. I have so many fun memories with her and her family and I can now say as an adult I have some new memories to add to the collection through breastfeeding!
Laurie Ann helped me with my 1st child almost 4 years ago and I probably would have quit if I wasn’t able to gain knowledge through her about breastfeeding. My 2nd baby just turned 1 in June. Right after having her I thought I could do the breastfeeding journey on my own because I’ve already done it once. But every baby is different and on plus having another child that you need to watch and take care of was a struggle. So again I reached out to Laurie Ann. She and her daughter Dani came to my home and helped me through the night. They gave me so much info and advice about this new breastfeeding journey. If you are wondering if you need help the answer is YES and Laurie Ann is perfect for the job!!!?????????

Laurie Ann absolutely saved me! She was there in the hospital to help me get my baby latched during one of the very first breastfeeding sessions. I needed help learning how to get her to latch properly and lots of physical support because well, I had just given birth. This got us started off on the right foot.
The overnight visit the first night home was a godsend! I was nursing my baby every two hours around the clock. Laurie Ann supported me through every feed. Then, I went right back to sleep as she cared for the baby throughout the night. I felt so refreshed.
Laurie Ann is the master milk maker! She helped me get my milk to come in quickly and helped me manage my supply in the coming weeks as it does fluctuate!
Breastfeeding was a learning process. Breastfeeding is natural, but it doesn't always come naturally. Without Laurie Ann's consistent support and encouragement, I would've given up quickly. I was able to make it over a year breastfeeding my girl because of her!
Laurie Ann also helped build a personalized routine for my baby so that she would have productive feedings, stimulating awake periods, and long restful sleep. My baby was only waking once to feed in the night at only a week old and sleeping through the night at just over a month old!
Laurie Ann offered me so much reassurance and confidence as I experienced emotions and hormones I had never had before. Being a new mom is hard and scary. Having someone who has been there and served many new moms is priceless.
Laurie Ann's services are well worth it as you will see long term results if you stick to the plan. If there is ONE thing I recommend to a new mom, it is to have postpartum support. We weren't meant to go through the this alone. Laurie Ann is a professional who not only has the knowledge and tools to teach you, but also the heart to serve you. She truly cares about your success and wants to see you reach your goals just as she helped me achieve mine.

Laurie Ann is truly AMAZING and was a big blessing to me when I had my second little girl.
I had a really hard time with my first child… breastfeeding was difficult and it was even harder to find someone to help me. I remember long nights and feeling helpless. I knew when I found out I was pregnant with my second that I needed support.
I meet Laurie Ann and knew she was the person that could support me with number two. I, too, have family locally but also knew that my oldest daughter was going to need attention.
My husband and I talked about it and it wasn’t a question that if she could support me the way I needed, to hire her.
My plan was as follows and it worked very well:
1. Hospital Visit- This was the best! She came a couple hours after the baby was born and stayed until I felt comfortable breastfeeding. This put my mind at ease while I was there, and I knew the baby was getting milk.
2. (2) overnight visits- I knew this was the hardest and emotionally draining time for me. She came the second night out of the hospital. Laurie Ann will stay with the baby and start sleep training while you sleep. My second child was sleeping in 6 hour stretches by the time Laurie Ann left… AMAZING!! She will bring the baby to you and help with breast feeding and support you in the late night feedings. My milk actually came in VERY fast and she helped put me on a feeding/ pumping schedule (which was a blessing!!)
3. During her time with me, she was also only a call or text away. I got sick the first week and couldn’t get a hold of my doctor. Laurie Ann answered right away and made sure to tell me what to do with breast feeding/ pumping/ hydrating to make sure I got better and my newborn did not get sick.
My entire family was very sad to say good bye to her because she was just so helpful!

Laurie Ann Finn is an amazing Doula. She was invaluable to our family when both of our girls were born. Her knowledge, advice, and encouragement were incredibly helpful. If you are in need of a doula then Laurie Ann is your person.

No one can prepare you for the first few weeks of postpartum. After about Day 5 of being home from the hospital, I put an SOS call out on Facebook for help. I was beyond physically and emotionally exhausted as a first-time mom with a baby who didn't nurse well. Laurie Ann saw my post and came over that same day. She provided tips, hands-on practical advice, encouragement, and support for me and my husband. We were both so grateful for the time she put in to help us make it through those grueling first weeks. She's passionate about what she does and will surely bless you through the many wonderful services she offers.
