Relevant volunteer or advocacy work

First and foremost, I am a mom to two amazing kiddos. I realized my calling was to help families in their pregnancy, labor and postpartum journeys after hiring my own doula for the birth of my son. I am a Certified birth doula and postpartum doula, a trained Newborn Care Specialist and a Certified Lactation Educator. I have over 15 years of experience caring for infants and children. I have firsthand knowledge of Cesarean birth/recovery, VBAC birth/recovery as well as exclusively pumping, supplementing, bottle-feeding and the trials and tribulations of breastfeeding. I am passionate about helping and advocating for moms who want to breastfeed and have VBAC births. My goal is to help women, their babies and families so they can easily and successfully navigate through pregnancy, labor and their fourth trimester. I serve families in the Greater Central Valley, including the North/Central San Joaquin Valley, Tri-Valley, Diablo Valley, East Bay and parts of Sacramento County.

Kim has been amazing! Super helpful, knowledgeable and compassionate. She is reliable and available for any questions or concerns you have. Even postpartum, she has been helpful in sharing tips and even referrals for LC as I have been having some issues with that. Her help has been ongoing and continues to check in. My baby boy was born August 29 2019.

Kim Hunter has gone above and beyond the call of a friend and took on the roll of doula for my second homebirth and 4th child. She was by my side shortly after informing her that my water had broken and kept me calm and relaxed enough to get some rest before the real fun bagan. When my labor began progressing she was quick to anticipate any of my needs and meet them. She sat with me and monitored my progress so my midwife could easily be caught up to speed when she arrived. Once the midwife arrived she was 100% my support and cheerleader. I’m not a hands on laborer but she never left my side and made sure I had towels and water and a cool rag. Kim has always been a good friend and now I’m happy that I was blessed enough to have her by my side for my last baby and birth experience!

Kim was wonderful as my postpartum Doula… She literally did anything I needed all I had to do was ask… Kim helped me manage the day-to-day domestic duties that would have piled up. She is pleasant and personable and I enjoyed my time with her and she was also great when she was helping with my newborn, so I could rest and recharge. She also cooked and made sure I was fed and hydrated.
