Our experience with Amy as our postpartum doula was wonderful! At a time of emotional highs and lows, Amy was provided a constant, reassuring, encouraging presence in our home. Amy patiently and thoroughly addressed all of our questions, and as first-time parents, we had lots! Amy helped us practice nursing positions, helped us prepare dinner, and even snuggled the baby for a while so we could nap. We felt comfortable with Amy immediately. She felt like part of the family instead of a "guest" in our home. We laughed and cried together in the first weeks after my son was born. I couldn't be more grateful that she was there to share in that precious time.

Amy McLean is an incredible mom and very special person to me. She has been my greatest mentor and advocate in raising my first child. From the start of my pregnancy she lent me books to begin preparing me for baby’s arrival. She went with me to set up my registry, gave me advice for different types of car seat/stroller systems, and helped guide me through the overwhelming amount of breast pumps. She even showed me how to make homemade organic diaper cream and baby wash. She referred me to our birth doula, Rebecca with Loving Touch Doulas, who was another added support in creating a birth plan and especially for our labor and delivery.

Amy genuinely cares for new moms and will be there at any time to answer questions or concerns. The second day I was in the hospital I was struggling with breast-feeding and wanted to give up. I felt so hopeless because I prepared the whole pregnancy for this and felt I was failing. I called Amy in tears and she patiently explained to me that it takes time for milk to come in, that it can be very uncomfortable at first and suggested I try different nursing positions. She also encouraged me to keep nursing for 2 weeks and it would get easier. Having that specific time frame in mind made the process seem less daunting. Sure enough, after about five days my milk came in and I successfully breast-fed for 18 months! When Micaela was born, Amy graciously set up a meal train so that family and friends could come bring meals and meet the baby. This was a huge relief for my husband and I since we weren’t getting much sleep and had zero energy to cook or set up visits. It was so comforting to know that I can come to her with all of my questions and she always responds in the most supportive way while empowering me to explore solutions that work best for me and my child. Her presence is very calming, yet she’s always able to bring humor and comic relief to what can be a huge, scary life change.
