Hiring Emily to be a part of our birth story was 110% the right decision, and I'm confident it will be for you as well. Emily offers strength, knowledge, comfort, trust, a sense of calm, compassion, endurance, kindness, patience and so much more. Emily not only connected with me from the time we met her, but my husband as well. She took the time to meet with us many times before birth so that she fully understood our birth goals and so that she could get to know us. She went out of her way to dive deeper into the Hypnobabies approach because that was part of our birth plan and she wanted to make sure she could support us with it. She offered to come to an appointment with me to meet my doctor ahead of time to ensure we were all on the same page about my birth plan, and she actively participated in the appointment by asking questions that I forgot to. She juggled a teaching obligation at the hospital and us arriving at the hospital by sending an incredible backup doula (Emma Ginder) that fit us so well. Emily had taken the time to meet with Emma prior to our birth just in case she needed Emma to step in to help at some point. She made sure Emma knew our goals and the two of them seemlessly tag teamed helping us bring our daughter into the world. Emily checked on us in the middle of her class, ended up coming home with us that night when I wasn't progressing enough to be admitted, worked with me in countless ways to help me progress and provided many helpful suggestions and support along the way. She sat in the floor and held my hand throughout the night as I labored at home ALL night, got up and made breakfast for all of us and then came to the hospital and spent all day and all night caring for me and helping support my husband. When I doubted myself Emily pushed me and encouraged me, when I was scared she comforted me, when I didn't know what to do she helped us make decisions. I am so deeply grateful for everything Emily did for us. Hire her!
I worked with Emily during my first pregnancy and I am so glad I did! I actually switched doula's at 34 weeks (due to my original doula taking a FT job and being unavailible for my birth). This was a stressful time for me but from the first meeting Emily put my husband and I at ease!
Emily has such a calming presense and a wealth of knowledge about the birth and post partum process - I would hire her again in a heart beat!
Emily provided outstanding doula service to my wife and me. She was supportive of our birth plan and provided care to us with a great deal of knowledge, experience and compassion. She also gave us education during our prenatal and post-partum periods. When my wife went into labor Emily arrived at our house in the middle of the night, gave us her exclusive attention at home during the early hours of labor. My wife was able to labor at home much longer under her care. When we arrived at the hospital, she gave us additional care while collaborating with the nurses and midwives. She stayed with us until then end of my wife’s 30+ hour labor and witnessed the miracle of the birth of our son alongside of us. We will continue to recommend Emily to any and all interested friends and family who want a great birth experience. We are now honored not only to call Emily our doula for life, but also our friend.
Emily was a great addition to our team for the birth of our baby girl. She was very helpful in the process. As a first time dad, the knowledge she had and the help she brought made me feel like I could focus on doing what my wife needed in the moment and not worry about the next step. I highly recommend Emily as a doula.
Emily was with us for the birth of our son last summer. He came early, before we really had time for reading any books or learning any techniques, but Emily guided my husband and I skillfully through a long unmedicated delivery! Emily was great at suggesting different positions and breathing techniques, and she had countless words of affirmation! Would highly recommend Emily for birth support, especially, but not limited to, those hoping for endurance through an unmedicated delivery!
I just completed my third birth with Emily. She attended my first two children as a friend before starting her doula career and our last one just 5 days ago, and was absolutely essential in successfully having a natural birth for all three. For my first child, I was told during birth classes having a doula would be very important to a successful natural birth with an OB in a hospital, and it’s so true. Even with this last birth being number 3 for hubby and I, it’s so nice to have an extra set of hands and a voice for your wishes.
Emily has been a different type of support with each pregnancy and birth. She has prayed with me through pregnancy and birth, reminded me of God’s strength as I labored, helped us to make medical decisions in labor, helped us come up with a birth plan, emotional support when facing induction, been firm and assertive with my OB and nurses in my wishes with all three births, been extremely calming to help labor progress, and provided help breastfeeding and swaddling after birth. I cannot recommend her high enough. I should add that my second child came quickly enough there was not a doctor in attendance in the room. You will be so glad to have an extra set of hands beside your husband, and so will your husband!
