When I decided on a natural childbirth, I knew I wanted to hire a doula. My husband had never heard of doulas and needed a little convincing but he eventually agreed. We interviewed several people, but we felt an immediate connection with Byrd. She has a wonderful calming and supportive presence about her and we left our interview knowing she was the one for us! She was so knowledgeable and offered very helpful guidance in all of our prenatal and postnatal meetings. I suffered from sacroilliatic pain in pregnancy, and she showed me various stretches to alleviate my pain. She helped us develop a birth plan and showed us different labor positions and comfort techniques for labor. During our birth, she was invaluable to have by our side. She stayed with us for over 14 hours during my labor and worked tirelessly throughout, coordinating with my husband to make sure I always had a hand to squeeze, something to eat, water to drink, etc. She offered aromtherapy, massage, different labor positions, made sure the music was to my liking, and more. She was so attentive, calming, and never overbearing. She stayed an hour or so after my baby's birth to make sure breasfeeding was established and even took some photos during birth! She is the only doula I know of to offer 2 postnatal visits and really helped me get a hang of breastfeeding, observing and offering feedback and different positions to try. She was always available and happy to respond to my questions over text, both before and after birth. I also loved that she took detailed notes during the birth, and presented us with a lovely story and timeline of our birth, since it was all sort of a blur to us! After everything was said and done, my husband 100% agreed that we could not have done this birth naturally without Byrd's support! She is AMAZING! You will not regret hiring Byrd as your doula!

Byrd was incredible! We were so lucky to have her by our side while we brought our baby into the world. She worked closely with us to develop a birth plan, and when we were in the hospital she helped me use that plan as my guide all the way through. My labor and delivery were fast and crazy, but Byrd helped keep me and my partner calm the whole way through. I knew I didn't want an epidural, but in the moment I was in a lot of pain, and Byrd helped me navigate it by giving me things to try before going for the epidural. Because of that I was able to have the natural birth I was looking for. Her follow up care was really helpful (even if I don't remember it because of new baby haze). We will definitely work with Byrd again!

Byrd was our doula for our first baby. We felt lost in so many ways, and Byrd was a steady and confident presence throughout the entire pregnancy, labor and postpartum. She truly provided everything we could've hoped for; research and information on topics we were unsure of our stance on, emotional support, sharing and guiding us through tactics to make labor more easeful. Byrd's guidance while I was pushing I found extremely helpful, and I attribute much of my confidence during this stage of labor to her words of encouragement.

After not using a doula for our first child, we hired Byrd to be our doula for our second. The difference in birth experiences was night and day. I felt much more confident going into the second birth, after a difficult first birth, because she worked with me on labor positions beforehand and she gave us so many things to think about to make sure we were prepared. Having her there made everything easier -- reminding me of what to do while I labored, helping with positioning, helping us communicate with the medical team, documenting everything, etc. During labor I started doubting my commitment to TOLAC/VBAC, but she provided a wise voice of reason, and I ended up having a successful VBAC after all. I also really appreciated her help in the first days and weeks after the birth, as I frequently had questions and she was just a text away. If we ever have another child, I will definitely work with Byrd again, and I can't recommend her more highly!

Byrd provided me and my family with exceptional care during my pregnancy and postpartum period. She is a very gifted masseuse and helped alleviate back pain during my pregnancy. In fact, she kick started my labor with massage a few days after my due date. I gave birth to my son mere hours after a massage with Byrd! She brought such a serene energy to my birth. She was invaluable, offering help when she noticed that something could be done. My husband also appreciated that she helped him to help me during my labor. She helped relieve pain during my labor with hip compressions. She was so helpful in the postpartum period when I had trouble breastfeeding. She helped get me support right away and provided craniosacral therapy for my son, who had a hard time turning his head to one side. She was always very punctual in her replies to me. I always felt like she cared about how I was doing emotionally. She checked in frequently to see how I was doing. She wrote up a very lovely birth story for my son, and I am excited to share it with him as he gets older. Everyone deserves to have a doula for their birth, and you’d be so very lucky to have Byrd as yours!
