I truly can't imagine navigating the early weeks of life with a newborn without Mary. From the moment she began working with our family, there wasn't a day that went by without either a new fear being neutralized or trick being taught that was a result of her extensive background, keen intuition and, above all else, kindness and understanding towards new parents and their children. Mary is equal parts educated caregiver and empathetic peer (being a mother herself) which made her insight truly invaluable as she could really sympathize with any new challenge or uncertainty that we experienced. Yet, she offered her perspective without projecting (judgement, any pre-conceived parenting approach, etc.) and with a wisdom that is seriously beyond her years. Any new mom and baby would be lucky to have Mary in their lives...we certainly were.
We clicked with Mary from our first meeting with her, and left feeling confident that we would be well supported once our baby arrived. We knew that our family would be in good hands with Mary. She is professional, courteous, personable, and experienced. It was important to us that the person who would be supporting us during such a new time in our lives was nonjudgmental and understood and respected our goals and wishes. Mary exceeded our expectations at every turn, and we always looked forward to seeing her. We can’t thank Mary enough for everything she has done for our family, and for our son. She is a true asset to the doula community, and a wonderful person. Thank you, Mary, from the bottom of our hearts for all your kindness and support. We will make sure our son always knows what a special role you played in his and our lives.
Mary was absolutley VITAL to my recovery following the cesarean section birth of my first baby, Thor. Mary is smart, intuitive, extremely skilled at multitasking, and somehow maintains a remarkable level of grace through it all. She supported me during the toughest times of my life through performing domestic chores around the house, cooking, cleaning, taking my baby on short walks while I showered and/or napped, but above all, was there and just LISTENED to my daily, early motherhood struggles. I highly recommend Mary to any mother in need of extra postpartum support. I consider myself so very lucky to have crossed paths with such an intelligent and empathetic mother, woman and Doula.
