The minute we met Lindsey we know she would be the perfect fit for us. Lindsey is highly educated, friendly, easy going and relaxed. She understood our priorities and how we wanted to have a stress-free and (as much as possible) calm birthing experience. Lindsey helped us research and make informed decisions all while supporting our 'calm' vibe. We are so thankful to have had Lindsey there for us and would highly recomend her to anyone else looking for that extra support!
Lindsey was an incredible presence at the birth of our first. We met with Lindsey a couple times before our big date to discuss our birth plan and so we could get on the same page. She listened to mine and my husband's needs and made us feel at ease throughout the whole process. On the day of our daughter's birth, Lindsey was attentive and brought a great amount of peace with her. We couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out.
We were lucky enough to come across Lindsey through recommendations from other moms on Facebook. As we’ve learned throughout our pregnancy journey, you can plan things out but sometimes things in life don’t always go as planned. We initially sought out a doula so that both me and my husband would have support while laboring at home. Even though I knew going in that I wanted an epidural, I also heard from other people that laboring at home can be a long and tough process. However, at 36 weeks we discovered that I would have to be induced due to baby’s small size. We really weren’t expecting this and the news shook both of us. Lindsey was amazing throughout this process and sent us information regarding induction and really made us feel comfortable with this decision. Once induction started, Lindsey checked in with us every step of the way. Once contractions and the pain really picked up, Lindsey came to the hospital to support us. As we learned throughout this pregnancy journey, you can plan all you want but things don’t happen as planned. I planned to get an epidural but I didn’t plan that a few hours in the epidural would not work in certain areas. With each contraction the pain in my back and on my left side intensified. The pain lasted for hours until it was time to push. Lindsey supported me through each contraction and suggested different positions to help ease the pain. She also massaged my feet and back and created a positive ambience in the room with lighting and decorations. She worked well with members of the healthcare team and did an excellent job explaining to us what was happening and what options I had. We definitely felt that we were her priority during this entire journey and that she was there to provide us with her full support and to look out for our best interest. I could not have done it without her! I would highly recommend Lindsey to anyone seeking a doula.
Lindsey was my savior during what became 70 hours of labor. She helped comfort me through all the twists and turns and helped me feel good about all the decisions I had to make along the way. She is also quite good at massage which goes a long way between contractions. I really cannot thank her enough for standing by my side every step of the way!
My husband and I are first time parents so our families thought it was a good idea to get us a postpartum doula as a baby shower gift. I found Lindsey Rei on doulamatch and loved her testimonials and experience. She got back to me right away and we scheduled a time to talk over the phone. I instantly felt comfortable with her and felt that I could be honest about all the concerns we had. My husband and I had absolutely no experience with kids before we had our son, we had never changed a diaper even. Lindsey came over once a week for 5 weeks and she was amazing with my newborn. She was easy to talk to, never judgmental towards us and very down to earth. She really helped me the first few weeks with breastfeeding, which was a struggle once home from the hospital. She answered all my questions week after week and I could tell she really knew her stuff!! She even allowed my Mom and Mother in law to come over during one of our sessions so they could ask any questions they had before they started watching my son when I went back to work. My husband and I highly recommend Lindsey as a postpartum doula, she was a perfect fit for our little family.
So let me cut to the chase here: I don't think I'd have survived my wife's birth experience if it wasn't for Lindsey. The whole ordeal lasted about four days and, as I am known to deal with a fair share of anxiety in my life, that issue along with the ongoing lack of sleep caused this experience to be one of the more exhausting times of both my wife's and my life.
Mind you, I understand that I was mostly a bystander throughout a lot of this, giving her my support when and where she needed it. But I tell you, Lindsey's presence was exactly what the doctor ordered!
Before my wife got pregnant, I had no idea what a doula even was. Lindsey helped me to understand that her role as doula falls under multiple categories: She's a cheerleader, a friend, a bodyguard, a coach, and, oh, did I say friend?
I have so much respect for the people in this industry now, thanks to her. Every time we met, she patiently supplied us with helpful information and compassion. Once we were in the hospital and my wife was battling through all the discomfort, Lindsey was there to not only help set a relaxing ambiance in the room to keep us as calm as possible, she acted as a middlewoman between us and the many doctors and nurses who entered and exited our room throughout our stay at the hospital.
As knowledgable as she was, she also kept us grounded, supplying a sense of emotional support. Honestly, if she wasn't with us throughout this whole experience, I'm not sure how it would've all played out. But given the circumstances, she made everything better.
From her extensive knowledge and easy bedside manner, to her ease of communication leading up to, and following the birth of our daughter, she made the whole thing seem effortless. It takes a lot to keep a smile on one's face when there's nothing but chaos happening around every corner.
Basically, Lindsey Rei is a lifesaver and a Jedi and I cannot thank her enough.
I’ve know Lindsey for many years, so when I heard that she was a doula, I was excited. Pregnancy can be scary enough, but having someone who I know and trust in the room with me let me relax! From our very first appointment I knew that I was in good hands. Lindsey is so wonderfully warm and welcoming. She really helps you get to know YOUR choices. She doesn’t make or suggest any choices for you, but walks you through the different options available to you so that you are sure that you are making the best decision for you and your family. Her arms and her heart were so wide open the entire time we were working together and she was always available to me - from my hours long ugly cry on her couch during one of my appointments, to my minutes long voicemail when I was upset at with my birthing team at the hospital. She made me feel heard and loved and supported and prepared throughout my entire pregnancy. THEN came birthing time. Oh man, she deserves an award. She was there on the phone talking us through our options and then there when I needed her. And my labor wasn’t short. Oh, no. She was there for 2 DAYS. Yes. Over 2 days, actually. Regardless, she was there the entire time, and when I was overemotional from having been up for almost 4 days and then needing to have a c-section when I had my heart set on not having a c section, she held my hand and let me cry it out and talked over my options with me. And have I told you that my husband is not a fan of blood? He was in and out of the room a lot, and I was so thankful that Lindsey was there for me to support me when my husband could not. She brought love and laughter to a painful and emotional situation, and really knew how to support me in talking to the hospital staff and even when talking to my husband sometimes! Hiring Lindsey was the best decision that I made for my birthing time. She is an AMAZING doula and you will not regret adding her beautiful spirit to your team. THANK-YOU Lindsey!
I don't think I can put into words and truly express how thankful I am to have had Lindsey as our Doula. My plan was to try and do an all natural, un-medicated birth. I knew I would need as much support and coaching as possible to get through it. Lindsey's energy was the perfect fit for us.
During our pre-natal visits with her, she reviewed all the things there is to learn and be aware of during the decision making process you might encounter at the hospital. She helped us put together our ideal "birth desires" and taught us all there was to know about what to expect. We were so thankful to have her during this process because it can all be very overwhelming and she definitely made it less daunting of a process.
The real praise I want to give to Lindsey is how INSANELY AMAZING she was during the entire labor and delivery process. My water broke at 3am and we immediately texted her to let her know we would be heading to the hospital. Lindsey responded right away. She called us and let us know that she was up and would be heading to the hospital to meet us there! Lindsey arrived pretty soon after we did and brought with her a special touch of candles and aromatherapy in case I wanted either during labor. She motivated me throughout the entire labor to move around, whether it was walking the hallways, bouncing on my birthing ball, doing squats, and when the hard times really set in, she got me dancing/swaying with my husband while he held me up. She was there the whole time coaching me through each breath, each contraction, helping my husband to be the best support he could be for me, massaging my back, rubbing my arms, telling me I was doing great. I never once felt I was doing this alone. I would forget to breathe during the intense contractions and while I was pushing and Lindsey kept reminding me and coaching me through it all. I think I would have passed out otherwise.
THANK YOU LINDSEY! We love you so much!
Lindsey was an amazing asset for us during our pregnancy and birth. Being a first-time father, I had never even heard of the word Doula. After learning what role they play in the process I was all for have an additional “team member” to help guide us. We were told by many friends that the most important aspect of a Doula is the vibe and connection you have. When we interviewed Lindsey, we hit it off right away. She has a sweet, reassuring presence that was exactly what we were looking for.
Her in home visits prior to the hospital trip were informative and gave us direction on what questions to ask our OB and what to expect during our hospital stay. Amber’s water broke at 3am, we texted Lindsey and met her at the hospital shortly thereafter. She instilled confidence that she was on call for us around our due date.
Lindsey made everything better once we got to the hospital. We constantly checked in with here when making decisions about how much Petocin Amber should get and what our next steps were going to be. She provided essential oils, candles (not real flames) and helped Amber by massaging here and supporting her throughout labor. Lindsey reassured me that I was doing a good job as a partner which was nice to hear in the thick of the craziness. She was on one side of Amber and I was on the other as we coached and cheered her to get our baby boy into this world.
I would highly recommend Lindsey to anyone considering a Doula. From a guy’s perspective, I found the coaching and support reassuring and viewed her as another team member to help Amber’s birth go the way we envisioned. She helped us tremendously and we are forever grateful! Thank you Lindsey!
Lindsey was such a wonderful doula and played an important role in the birth of our son. His birth did not go according to plan. In fact it was quite the opposite. And with every bump along the way, Lindsey was informative, consoling, and so supportive. She held my hand, and let me cry, and gave direction to my support team so that they could all be there for me. She understood what I needed and I couldn't have imagined it without her. We are so grateful to have shared this moment with her and highly reccommend her.
