Heather was a wonderful resource throughout my pregnancy and birth as well as after the delivery of our second child. She was kind, caring, loving, and supportive and was available to answer any questions we had. When my water broke and I waited at home for contractions to start, she provided me with much-needed calmness as well as information on acupuncture at home as well as other things I could do to jump-start the process. The birth plan got thrown out the window when my contractions were much stronger and faster than I had prepared for, and she was there to support my new decisions without judgment. She anticipated my fears and needs during the birthing process and was there to provide emotional support when I was completely tapped out. We were very happy with the support she provided and if I ever decide to have another child, we will definitely be in contact with Heather Renee (or "Feather" as my older son calls her) as she is now a part of our family.
Heather was our doula for the birth of our second child. We really value the support, wisdom, and calming presence doula's bring to the birth experience, and Heather embodies these qualities. From the first time we met Heather, I felt safe and in good hands. She is an extrodinary listener, and completely disarming in her judgement-free demeanor. Throughout our work with her, she was attentive and attuned to both my partner and me. After the birth of our son, she checked in numerous times while respecting our space to recover from the journey. Heather was an invaluable part of our team throughout the pregnancy, birth, and post-partum. I highly recommend Heather as a doula!
From our first visit, Heather Renee was extraordinarily kind and generous in her provision of care and support. We had suffered a terrible loss in my first pregnancy, and as a result, I was actively navigating complex anxiety surrounding labor. We shared our story and my fears, and Heather Renee immediately turned towards them, asking gentle, priming questions to help her understand what we might need in preparation for bringing our daughter into the world. She heard our desires and preferences with total openness, offering advice when we asked, and gentle reassurance.
Throughout our journey leading to labor, she provided consistent support of all kinds -- whether through teaching my husband comfort techniques, teaching me breathing and relaxation exercises, or simply just texting after an ob/gyn visit to see how I was feeling.
When I went into labor, she happened to be just a few blocks away, and came to the house to be with us. As my husband drove us to the hospital and I knelt on the rear floor, Heather Renee administered counter pressure on my back, offering confident affirmation. Throughout my active labor, she used words and silence with equal intention to support me, and my husband. It was deeply special to have her by our side through our process, and in the hours of my labor. After I had decided to have an epidural (a decision that was difficult for me to make) there was a lovely calm that she, my husband, and I enjoyed together. While I've no doubt that I'll forever remember all aspects of my labor, those moments together, felt especially precious.
Heather Renee is a very special human-- I'm deeply grateful she was such an integral part of our experience. I am so glad to be able to have the opportunity to recommend her.
