Founder of CAPS for VBACS. A group of volunteers who crochet or knit newborn hats to donate to hospitals. The hats are recognized by their single stripe of a contrasting color to represent both a scar of a cesarean and vaginal birth in the way it crowns the head of the baby. The hats are for all babies to wear and raise awareness of VBACs so women know their options going into future births.
ON MATERNITY LEAVE: Just welcomed my third baby October 14, 2019. I am taking some time away, but I will be available again in May. Thank you! I am a trained doula finishing up my certification. I am so excited to be available to help people through this journey of theirs. My services include a prenatal meeting, continuous labor support, initial breastfeeding assistance if needed, and a postpartum visit. If you have your camera available, I am more than happy to take any pictures you request.

My husband and I hired Brandi for the birth of our second son, and we are so glad we did. From my very first interaction with Brandi I knew she would be a perfect fit for our family. Brandi was very responsive with calls and texts to any of my inquiries and she eagerly shared information with me on any questions or concerns I shared with her. About a month before my due date Brandi came to our house and reviewed birth preferences, breastfeeding positions and labor positions. She encouraged us to practice a few while she was there to get an idea of which positions work for us and which ones didn't. After she left that day I felt confident, empowered and excited to give birth. On the day of my induction Brandi arrived promptly after we asked her to head to the hospital. Labor pain for me was manageable at this point, but it was nice having her calming presence in the room. When the contractions started to pick up Brandi encouraged me to switch laboring positions, reminded me to use the restroom and even massaged my feet. Her encouragement and reminders allowed me to focus on my breathing without having to watch a clock. By this time Brandi took the initiative to make some adjustments to the room by turning on some music, dimming the lights and adding flamless candles. My contractions picked up quickly and it became harder to focus on anything else than the labor pain, but Brandi was right by my side rubbing my back when another contraction started and reminding me to breathe or make any noises I needed to. I asked for an epidural, but by the time it was ready I had already started pushing, and just like that my son was born 20 minutes later. Brandi held my hand through the end until my son was placed on my chest. I gave birth to my son without an epidural and minimal time pushing and I am absolutely CERTAIN I could not have done it if it weren't for Brandi. I wish I had more than the limited 2000 characters to further explain just how wonderful she is.
Brandi was a fantastic doula. She helped us with the birth of our first child and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a doula. She was very organized and informative. She went above and beyond our expectations by bringing medicine balls to show differnt birthing positions and infant baby dolls to demonstrate nursing to one of our early meetings. At the hospital, she brought music for us to listen to, extra chargers, extra hair ties, etc. She helped remind of us the different positions I could use to get through the birth all naturally, rubbed my back during contractions, applied cold wraps, etc. Brandi gave us alone time when we didn't even know we needed it so we can take everything in and decompress a bit. When my husband didn't have time to grab food before we went to the hospital she brought some food for him! Again she went way above and beyond my husband and my expectations. We never felt rushed or like we were a client. She made us feel like this was our special moment and that she was there to guide us and make sure our son's birth went the way we wanted it. My husband and I would HIGHLY recommend Brandi as a doula!
It was an honor to have Brandi Timko as my doula for the birth of my second child. Her presence made all the difference between my first (which was not accompanied by a doula) and second. Her knowledge, professionalism, and compassion all lent to the experience. In reflection of the event, my husband and I both agree that her presence there allowed us to focus on each other in a way that we had not been able to feel with the birth of our first son. She stepped in to anticipate my needs with everything from positioning, to keeping me hydrated and sustained, to providing me with music to relax. Brandi offered suggestions to manage my pain and control my breathing, gave physical support during contractions, and even massaged me with gentle touch while being able to guide and assist my husband. In a way, we were both able to appreciate the amazing miracle taking place better than before. After my delivery, my son needed immediate attention and I was helpless to do anything. She relieved my fears and anxieties by standing at my side to relay everything the nurses were saying that I could not hear and gave my husband the chance to be by his side in that time of need. Since he was with the baby, during the repair that followed birthing, she gave me a strong hand to hold through the discomfort and spoke kind words of reassurance. I felt safe and cared for every step of the way. Afterwards, Brandi continued to be there as we began breastfeeding and, just as she had before the delivery date, in the days to follow, she has checked in often to offer me advice. I hope this is a promising beginning to her career as a doula because she has a true gift and talent in this field.
