When I found out I was having a second child, I knew exactly what I wanted and needed in terms of support, and who would be in the room with me during my most intimate life-changing moments. I would have rather had no doula, than someone other than the perfect match. So, I found Olivia. She was the one! I have high standards. She met them in every way. Not only is she professional, but she has great energy, and it was a wonderful addition to my small birth team. Most importantly she kept my wishes for an unmedicated birth a priority, even when I was ready to give up. I needed her calm confidence to make it happen, and I am so happy she was there to support my husband and I. This is someone who will forever be in my heart as part of my son's birth experience and I am so excited to keep in touch and share where we have gone from here. I am sure that she will be in high demand, so if you have the luck of finding her available, you will not be disappointed. I could not have asked for a better experience with her at my side. My husband and daughter agree. What a wonderful partnership.
What can I say? Olivia is peaceful and relaxed but so professional at the same time. A lot of other Doulas were so "hippy dippy" that they would forget to return my calls and Olivia makes you a priority. When we received her services she was also a full time Nanny which made me a little worried for my Due Date but she always made it apparent that her employer knew as soon as I needed her, she would be by my side. She knew all the tips and tricks to make sure it wasn't false labor so I didn't waste my time at Labor and Dlivery and once I was actually in labor, she spent the whole 36+ hours with me, she even labored at home with me from 10:30pm until we finally went to the hospital at 5:00am the next morning. She also let my husband sleep in between those times so he could be completely coherent for "the show". The week before I was due we texted almost every day to see how I was feeling. Olivia even kept my nurses in check when she could tell that I didn't want to do what they were asking, but I was too shy to say myself. Even 13 mos. after now, I send her updates and she came to my little guys 1st birthday. I'm so happy she was apart of my experience and even though I could have done it without her, it wouldn't have been nearly as easy.
Olivia was an integral part of my wife’s and birth experience. She had so many exercises, tips and suggestions to help keep both my wife and myself calm during an otherwise stressful experience. On top of meeting with us several times before the birth, and being on call for the entire month before our due date, Olivia met us at the hospital and stayed with us the whole time. This was our first child and having a professional Dula was essential to a positive experience. I recommend her.
Olivia was by my side during my 31 hour labor, and it was her calm focus, her support, her quiet humor, and her ability to see what my husband and I needed, that made my labor feel more like a celebration than "work." I believe it was because of her care that I was able to have a vaginal delivery when I was being told a c-section was likely.
Olivia came to my house a number of times before labor began to share information with me, to check on how I was doing waiting for baby to come (I went into labor 7 days after my EDD), and to bring me chocolate milk. Her companionship was so needed and so thoughtful.
Post-partum, Olivia's visits and support got us through the early days and weeks, and her tips on breastfeeding, sleep schedules, and bottle and nap "training" were invaluable.
Thank you, Olivia!!
