When I found out I was pregnant, like many women I had many thoughts running through my head about the journey I had ahead of me. I would spend most of my time thinking about L&DI’ve always been a super dramatic person I’ll proudly admit and pain was never something I handled well. I knew I wanted to make my L&D story an experience I would look back on and be proud of the power and natural abilities my body has while bringing a new life into the world and knew I wouldn’t be able to do it alone. That’s when I started thinking of the idea of a Doula. We decided that we would try for a natural birth in a hospital setting. I had a good relationship with my doctor but still knew I would need someone besides my husband to be there to support me during the craziness of labor. A little late in the game during my third trimester we found Chelsea. From the first meeting I was impressed by her knowledge and professionalism. I felt immediately comfortable discussing with her my plans and goals. I truly believe it was my meetings with her and her overall relaxed demeanor that made me such a calm mama to be in those last weeks, I knew I was in good hands. Fast forward to my baby boys birthday, Chelsea was at the hospital within lightning speed knowing she had her own little one to care for and was a strong presence within the room. My birth story was much different than I imagined it to be, I was much less involved in different positions and things than I expected but she helped me just go with the flow and never pressured me. I gave birth naturally (and dramatically) and Chelsea stayed with me for a couple hours after while my husband left to check on our dog and helped with the initial breastfeeding. Even to this day 2 months later I feel like she’s always there to make me feel like I’m doing an amazing job if I ever need a boost. I’m grateful I went ahead with choosing Chelsea to be my doula and recommend her highly.
Chelsea has a natural talent for caregiving and teaching others. From the start, she was very organized, helpful, dedicated, dependable, and always went well above and beyond our expectations. I could not imagine doing this without her by my side. In her prenatal appointments, she always provided a wealth of educational material as well as demonstrations to us. Throughout the process, she would reach out to check up on me and to offer any assistance we could use.
When I started labor, she made herself available immediately and coached us through the whole process; she eased a lot of my tension and anxiety. We had a very long and difficult labor, but she never once left my side. She helped me through each contraction with a variety of caregiving techniques, positions, and moral support. Also, she provided a host of tools such as the rebozo, peanut ball, etc. Even after the birth, she specifically stayed until we had our first latch even though it was very late, so we appreciated that. Finally, in the postnatal appointment, she provided us many small gifts such as teas, herbs, pads, etc. to support my recovery.
Chelsea is so much more than just the bare minimum required of a doula. She is very passionate about her work and wants to give you the safest, healthiest, most well informed birth possible. 11/10 for sure!
Chelsea is a great doula! I had an amazing birth experience with her. I was expecting my second child, my first birth was a hospital birth with epidural, and this time would be my first time with a birth center birth without any medication. My husband was out of country, I didn't want to be alone in the birth center, and Chelsea made me feel that I am not alone. She was not only a doula to me, but also a friend. She was very kind, supportive, well-organized, and proffesional. Even though this was my second baby, I learned a lot from her. She educated me during our prenetal visits. She sent me the recepie to prepare cooling pads informed me on everything I asked. She was very calm and encouraging before, during, and also after the delivery. She did even the things she doesn't have to, she provided me Red Raspberry Leaf Tea in her prenatal visit and herbs to use after delivery. I was planning to take an uber or lyft to the birth center, but she kindly offered me a ride, picked me up from my place, took me to the birth center and dropped me off to home after the birth. I am so glad that I didn't have to go to the birth center with an uber/lyft driver, a complete stranger while having my contractions. Chelsea has an amazing birth story herself which gave me courage to go through my labor and delivery. Her presence during the birth of my daughter, Ayse Mila, was a tremendous help. Beside her active coaching, Chelsea also provided heating pads and massage during labor, tracked my contractions, and prepared a timeline to help me to write my birth story. She took my and my baby's pictures. I feel very lucky to have her as my doula. I would highly recommend her to everyone. I couldn't have done it without her! I am so greatful to you and I can't thank you enough Chelsea!
