I would definitely recommend Heather as your doula. She was such a knowledgeable and pleasant, calming person to accompany me and my husband through the birth of our first child and our first few weeks as parents.  Heather has lots of evidence-based information available for many different questions one has about birth, newborns, breasfeeding, etc. She also made me feel confident that I made good decisions. She referred me to a great lactation consultant. She really made the birth process less scary, both as a friendly distraction from labor and as a knowlegeable counterpart to add details or explanation to what the hospital staff were telling us.  Heather took lovely pictures at birth and of our family together soon afterward. She supports both parents, not just mom. We met before the birth, and as part of the flat fee package, she checked in with us after the birth a few times. Birth is just the first step, but Heather can be a resource for starting out as a parent.
