Sophia far exceeded any expectations we had for what a doula provides. She helped make our birth experience special, and spent 18 hours with us through labor. She was so attentive to our needs and was extraordinarily supportive to both of us and our family... She was an absolute joy to work with. She was knowledgable, patient, and passionate about her work. We both highly recommend Sophia.
Eternally grateful that we hired a doula for our first birth experience. Sophia was always deeply engaged, an active listener, and owned our birth preferences. We ended up having an emergency c-section after a long labor, and unproductive pushing, and she was tuned into my needs every step of the way. She knew my birth preferences and not only advocated for them, but reminded me of them during low points. She was an incredible support to my partner and helped us also reflect on the labor after the fact. She was super giving of her time and even accompanied me to a lactation appointment after our daughters birth. We are forever grateful for Sophia and she will always be our doula!
Sophia was such a fantastic support for me during my very long and difficult labor. I am truly impressed by her endurance since she was so attentive to me every minute of the more than 24 hours she spent with me at the hospital. My goal was to have an unmedicated birth in the hospital and to stick to my natural birth preferences. I succeeded in my goals and there is no way I could have done it without Sophia! She was especially helpful in suggesting different positions for me to try and help ease my intense back labor and providing prolonged counterpressure on my back which felt amazing! I'm also so grateful that Sophia encapsulated my placenta for me and even gave me several handmade herbal postpartum gifts. She is truly special and dedicated to her work.
Sophia’s support enabled us to have a peaceful, positive birthing experience that I cherished. During our pre-labor sessions, we expressed that we’d like to have a calm environment during labor, and she made that happen for us with battery operated candles, meditation music, and a calming presence. Our labor room was utterly tranquil, conveying to every person entering the room to interact with us in a soft, quiet manner. I utilized Hypnobirthing breathing and visualization techniques for labor and Sophia made sure she was familiar with our approach and birthing plan, and was a vocal advocate of that plan with everyone that interacted with us thoughout labor. Sophia was by my side for over 27 hours straight, providing a huge sense of comfort to my husband and me. She gave me light touch massage and guided me in meditation. She even took photos during and immediately after labor which captured the beautiful moments when my husband and I met our daughter. We are incredibly grateful to Sophia and so glad she was our doula for the birth of our first child.
Sophie was an unimaginable, incredible help during our pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. From her words of comfort to her immense knowledge about babes, pregnancy, and beyond.
As a gal who likes to say I “fly by the seat of my pants” more so than I like to admit how unprepared I am, Sophie was there, filling in the gaps, steering me and my partner along into the crazy otherworldly dimension that is pregnancy and child birthing. Not only was she extremely helpful but adapted to our “go with the flow” attitude and accepted without question that was our process.
During labor she gave gentle guidance to my partner during his “deer in the headlights” phase, while also making sure I was getting what I needed. As well as helping my midwife team with whatever they needed. Without Sophies help, I don’t think our home birth would have been as smooth and successful as it turned out to be, and We’re immensely grateful for her part in our experience.
If you are looking for a doula who will have your back (literally if you want!) and help you advocate for yourself during the birthing process, then Sophia is the doula for you! I felt safe and empowered with Sophia in the birthing suite with me. This was huge for me because she brought her knowledge and incredibly calm demeanor for my first child birth. Sophia knew my birth plan like it was the back of her hand and helped me to feel confident in expressing my wishes.
Not only was she great during the birth, but Sophia was super helpful in the weeks and months prior to my due date when she met with me and my husband on working to curb my anxieties surrounding childbirth.
Sophia Tschida assisted me throughout my pregnancy and birth. She was a helpful moderator when we discussed our birth plan and assisted me in clarifying my wants and needs before labor even began. Sophia offered books from her collection and helped me find resources I needed to prepare for my birth experience. She was a good listener and was able to reframe fears into useful inquiry. I greatly appreciated her dedication to my partner and I. It felt good to be supported and encouraged when faced with so much change. At our last prenatal meeting she helped us talk about multiple birth scenarios and made sure we were answering questions regarding emergencies and changes in plan without making me feel nervous.
Our birth started as planned, at home, intimate, and without anxiety. Sophia came when we started to feel we needed more support and offered help in preparing our home. She helped us communicate with our midwives and family members. Due to malposition, my labor took a long time. After 24 hours we decided to transfer to the hospital. Sophia’s assistance made this transition swift and helped me feel confident in my choice. At the hospital she helped maintain a sense of sacred space despite the environment. She helped us keep our birth plan as intact as possible and made sure we were still aware of our options. I am so grateful for the support she offered both me and my partner when we were all so sleep deprived and extended beyond our limits. We felt able to focus on our birth and bond while she monitored the communication with our family and care providers.
We would absolutely solicit her help for future births and recommend her to others. She has a natural ability to remain calm and collected and listen to your needs. We never felt that she judged us or our plans for our birth. She helped us think about things we weren’t preparing for and made space for our unique experience. Thanks Soph!
