NDDA is a group of Amazing women. I am beyond blessed to have had Laura and Lauren by my side with the birth of my twins. If not for their encouragement, support, and expertise (and the help of an amazing midwife, Meagan Whitehurst), I do not believe it would have been possible to have had a vaginal birth for both of my twins (born 4hrs apart!!!!!!) . “Thank you” doesn’t convey the level of appreciation owed to this amazing woman and the organization she represents
Lauren was fantastic. This was my first birth and after ready a thousand books I settled on wanting to have a natural birth in a hospital. I knew that my husband and I would need help and we decided to get a doula to help us navigate all the uncertainties and trials of labor. Lauren was perfect. I am a type a personality and had a lot of expectations, Lauren was very knowledgable and helped me prepare my birth plan. However, labor is completely unpredicatable and sure enough my birth plan went out the window from the start. Lauren was awesome, she supported me throughout and helped me adjust to all the unexpected changes. She is the type of doula that will know what to expect in a variety of situations, will run to your side with peppermint when you're nauseaus, grab a leg when you're pushing, and check in with you months after you've delivered. My husband and I consider her family.
I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. When I heard Melissa wouldn't be able to make the delivery, I was a bit upset. However, when Lauren arrived I knew we were in good hands. As cheesy as this sounds, Lauren felt like our guardian angel. Her presence was calming yet subtle, and encouraging but gentle. She gave me the opportunity to take charge and play an active role throughout my wife's delivery. I couldn't have imagined a smoother process and Lauren played a major part and for that I say, thank you!
Lauren was a second doula when my wife went into labor. Although we never met her before, it was as if we had known her for a long time. She was very friendly and helpful during the whole laboring process. she also helped capture the moment for us with some great photos. Lauren helped out so much with small things so that there was nothing that we had to worry about. She helped take care of little details so that my wife could focus on giving birth and I could focus on my wife. She also willingly spent almost all of her birthday with us(literally until midnight) because she was more excited about seeing and helping my wife give birth than celebrating her own birthday. She is a truly great doula that I wouldn’t hesitate to have again. We are very appreciative of the work she did for us.
Lauren volunteered as a second Doula for my labor and delivery, and I am so incredibly thankful that she did. She was another set of hands and encouragement that i needed! I had never met her before that day but just within a couple of hours it felt like i had known her all my life. She was kind, encouraging and working behind the scenes in ways i didn’t know i needed, not to mention she also assisted by capturing my whole 27 hours of labor and delivery and gave my husband and I beautiful photographs as memories for that incredible experience of the birth of our child. The thing that blew me out of the water is that my labor and delivery was ON HER BIRTHDAY! She chose to spend her birthday assisting me bring my child into this world, if that doesn’t tell you how special and dedicated Lauren is to being the best Doula she can be, i don’t know what will. Have Lauren Bullington as your Doula, you won’t regret it!
Lauren kindly volunteered her services as a labor doula to my partner and I when we had to evacuate our home in FL for hurricane Irma. We ended up staying with family in Dallas until it was safe to drive back home, but I went into labor the day we were leaving. I was far from home, without my doula or midwife and only a printed birth preference sheet I prayed the nurses and doctors would respect when I struggled at the hospital. Little did I realize that Lauren would be one of two amazing doulas who showed up to support me through the labor. My doula apparently reached out last minute (I began labor with contractions 5 minutes apart) to the online community and Lauren responded that she would help!
Lauren provided me with emotional encouragement and practical care -- like bringing me water while I was walking the halls, helping me bend backwards in the birthing ball to get my baby in a better position, and holding my hand when my strength waivered. She also offered to capture the night on camera, which I thought I might hate but I was actually so happy to have those photos to look back on. They were real, raw, and unedited, but seeing the candid moments are priceless and take me back to the most empowering night of my life. Thank you for your kindness and generosity, Lauren!!!
