The moment we met Soleya, we knew she would be perfect to help us through my VBAC. Everything about her is calm and positive. She was always there to answer any questions I had. When it was time to go to the hospital, she was there. She never left my side and she helped me remember what I wanted and to be strong. She helped me breathe through the strong contractions. She was there for me and even spoke up for me. I truly believe that she was the main reason I was able to get as far as I did. She also took pictures and even video of baby coming into the world. She is family now to us. We absolutely love her!
Our experience with Soleya was wonderful. Upon first meeting her, my partner and I felt comfortable right away, due to her relaxed and down-to-earth personality, and my 5 year old adored her as well! Throughout the pregnancy Soleya stayed in contact and checked in on us, which became increasingly helpful as my pregnancy became high-risk in the last several weeks. Her emotional support and availability through that time was so appreciated. When I was admitted to the hospital a week before our scheduled c-section, Soleya made the effort to come see us, even though being in Seattle was not part of our plan! Then on the morning of the surgery, she came to take pictures and offer support to my partner and mom, even though she couldn't be in the room for the delivery. When our baby was taken to the NICU, she stayed for several hours to make sure we were all okay. She really went above and beyond what we ever expected, and was so gracious and kind! We feel so lucky to have had her involved in the birth of our son.
I had the honor of being Soleya's first doula assisted birth. After talking to a few doula's we choose one before we had found Soleys. The doula we choose canceled 6 weeks (roughly) before my due date and I paniced. I found Soleya and asked to meet her and explain my situation. She was more than willing and happy to work with my husband and I on such a short timeline. She drove to us and helped us practice techniques and coping skills. Being our first baby, my husband and I needed a lot of guidence. We ended up liking Soleya much better than our first doula and being glad the first one flaked out! When my water broke at 5am we talked to her and she kept in constant contact with us. During the birth she read my body emotions very well. I don't like to be touched when I am in pain which could make her job harder. She did amazing helping me cope and doing other things such as providing a wet cloth and essential oils as I requested. She was very tentitive and helpful but never put herself in the way. My husband didn't feel like she replaced him in any way but supported us. She helped me try and stick to my birth plan that we established and respected my decision when I choose to deviate. While pushing she helped encourage me and talk me through all of it, telling me I could and that I was strong. She was there for the entire 24+ hours and a few hours after the birth. Once my son was born she spent some time with us to make sure we were adjusting and breastfeeding ok. Once we were home she checked in several times and came to see us and our son. I'm very glad she was apart of our birth process!
