I have joyfully been attending births since 2003, starting with my niece. At first it was a hobby, but now it is my calling and profession. I am a mother of three and grandmother of two. I owned and operated a licensed daycare for 6 years while my children were growing up. I’ve worked as a postpartum doula and newborn nanny since 2013. I’ve volunteered for several years in my church nursery.

My husband and I reached out to Sheila in January to discuss how the process works and to setup time to meet. We ended up meeting in mid February about a month or so before my due date. We loved Sheila from the moment we met her. She was so helpful in answering all of our questions and making sure we felt comfortable with the entire process. We had every intention to hire her as our doula! Over the next few days we discussed additional meeting times and planned some birth prep class meetings. About a week or so after meeting Sheila, my water broke (4 weeks before due date)..I text Sheila (without having paid anything or officially booking anything) and she came quickly!! My entire experience for nearly 12 hours without Sheila included being nervous, being in extreme pain and uncertainty of what was going to happen. The moment Sheila came to the hospital- things changed for the better. She was so helpful in calming my nerves, answering all of my questions and being there for me, physically and emotionally. It made such a significant difference to have her there. At first when I went into the hospital I nearly hesitated contacting her since I had not paid for her services and it was so last minute- but it was the best decision I could have made to have contacted her. Sheila was with me every step of the way and even has an amazing assistant/partner who came later in the day and was also very attentive and helpful. They were both with me during the birthing process. Over the next few days and weeks Sheila continued to check up on me..and even came over to my home after some time to visit me and the baby! She offered to help in anyway that she can. My experience was very pleasant because of Sheila! I felt so comfortable and confident during my delivery because Sheila was so helpful in reassuring me every step of the way. When I do have another baby, I will hire her again without a doubt!! I strongly recommend Sheila!
Sheila was an AMAZING support. She is kind, patient, and knowledgeable. She was also really flexible in helping us adjust our birth plan after I had an accident before my delivery! She was frequently checking in with me in the weeks before our baby was due and was supportive of the decisons that my husband and I made for our birth without pushing any agenda. She offered suggestions that were helpful throughout the whole process, helped us to advocate for ourselves at the hospital, and offered amazing support after our birth as well. If it wasn't for Sheila's support, we probably wouldn't have had help in identifying our baby girl's tongue tie so early and transitioning earlier into easier, less painful breastfeeding. We can't rave enough about how invaluable she was to our birth experience. Thanks, Sheila!
My wife and I used Sheila's Postpartum Doula services and she was amazing. My wife and I are first time parents so that first night we brought our baby home we were excited to finally be out of the hospital but scared to be on our own. There's this brand new tiny human being to take care of and we'd never even so much as taken care of a pet before. None of our family is around so we were pretty much on our own.
She was with us that first night we brought our new baby boy back home and we were so glad we had her. Her wisdom, expertise, and confidence gave us so much strength.
When my wife broke down in tears from the combination of exhaustion, pain, worry, frustration, and sleep deprivation, Sheila's shoulders were there to provide comfort and guidance. She showed us how to do a sponge bath, how to feed the baby, how to use the various carriers and swaddles that we were gifted (and that arrived in incoherent tangles).
Her aid was essential to navigating the rough waters of the Fourth Trimester and we were very happy with our decision to work with her.
I think the most important aspect of any relationship you build with your baby's caretaker is trust- and immediately we trusted Sheila with our first born baby, the night we returned from a very traumatic and long birth/hospital stay (11 days total)! Look no further if you want someone to care for your baby like family would but with the knowledge of a doula. She is always early, communicates clearly and is so helpful with everything while I heal from a C section. Whether you're a first time mom, a c section mom or just any mom that wants SLEEP or extra hands, do yourself a favor and hire Sheila to help you!!!!!
