Words cannot describe how grateful I am to have had a doula like Kusuma. She was incredibly skilled, knowledgeable and compassionate throughout the entire prenatal, birthing and post natal experience. I could not have survived this epic journey without her!
Kusuma continuously impressed both me and my partner with the level of quality care she provided. She was kind and considerate throughout. I liked that she really empowered me to tune into creating exactly the kind of birthing experience that I wanted. She supported all of my ideas and sent lots of great resources to inform my decisions.
Kusuma is a very knowledgeable and confident professional. She is well organized and generous of spirit. She responded to all of our needs and we just can't say enough about how much we loved receiving her support! As a new mother, hiring a doula was by far the best gift I could have given myself. Thank you Kusuma for making this a wonderful experience!

Kusuma was amazing she was so helpful towards my wife. We walked into our room and the room was set up with candles and music and made the energy so postive. It relaxed everyone there and made for a great birth. If marlee was feeling any discomfort Kusuma was there with new ideas to try and if one wasnt working she was quick to respone with a new one. Nothing short of amazingness. I would highly recommend Kusuma for any doula needs it was second to none. Thank you very much for everything.
I was a bit late in the game (37 weeks) when I decided to look for a doula and met Kusuma serendipitously at the market. I am so glad I did! I would recommend having a doula, Kusuma in particular, to ANYONE after my experience. And I would suggest looking into it at any point in a pregnancy journey, even postpartum. (Of course the earlier the better to get the most out of it, but it really wasn’t too late for me even so close to the end).
I felt very comfortable with Kusuma right away and even though we did not have much time to get to know one another before my labour, I was at ease with her being a part of it. And I would say she was a very integral part! And not just of labour, but also in boosting my knowledge/confidence pre-birth, and in her support and teaching postpartum. It takes a very special person to make someone feel that comfortable in such a short amount of time and Kusuma is a natural at it.
The best part of having Kusuma at my baby’s birth was having someone to encourage me to change positions, to walk around, and to try a variety of tools (ball, stool, shower, acupressure) when my mind was elsewhere. I appreciated her help with figuring out what worked and what didn’t instead of me simply assuming the supine position in bed (which I probably would have done if she weren’t there, and which most definitely was NOT going to work for me :)). Also, the empowerment I felt from having Kusuma present made me feel stronger and more capable of doing what I needed to do. I even felt encouraged to be vocal and that was very freeing.
The only thing I can mention that is even remotely negative is that since my labour progressed so quickly, Kusuma wasn’t able to be there for the first part. I had hoped to have her with me for the whole thing, so I felt a little discouraged when she wasn’t there with me right away. But she did get there, and it made a huge positive difference when she did!
After I had my baby girl, Tati, I was very lost (Tati's dad and I had separated shortly after she was born). So, when Kusuma came along I was simultaneously experiencing the best and worst times in my life. Not only was she there as an emotional support, she was also there physically which was what I needed at the time - someone else's presence. I needed someone to hold my baby while I cried in the shower. I needed someone to make me healthy meals so I had the fuel to nurse and play with her. I also needed someone to make me laugh so I didn't end up spending the whole day in bed feeling sorry for myself. She was patient, caring and sweet despite my sometimes volatile personality.
One of the best memories I have of that time was crying in the shower (after she had made me one of her famous spicy egg and greens wraps and a chocolate almond milk smoothie) only to come into my bedroom and hear Tati laughing with her little toesies in her mouth - Kusuma was dancing around, playing the guitar and singing in all kinds of silly voices, and my baby was HAPPY!
Kusuma's infectious positivity, her knowledge of holistic nutrition, yoga, and meditation, her excellent organization and communication skills, and her capacity to anticipate what people need, makes her an amazing doula and wonderful human! I don't know what I would have done without her postpartum. You won't find another person as special as Kusuma <3
I had an amazing experience working with Kusuma during the birth of my first baby. Although I was unable to follow my birth plan for a natural birth due to complications, Kusuma provided amazing support to me and my family during the process. I really enjoyed having Kusuma there with me, providing emotional support, advocating for me and my baby, and providing suggestions which best suited my birth plan and preferences. She created a warm and relaxed environment during the stressful time. I would highly recommend Kusuma to friends and family and would love for her to attend my future births.
Kusuma went above and beyond my expectations before birth and as a birthing partner. She really has a passion for what she does and it shows in her work. I really wanted a med-free birth since my first birth had a lot of interventions and complications. Thanks to Kusuma's support and her ability to communicate my needs and wishes to hospital staff, I was able to follow my birth plan exactly as I imagined it would be. I could never have done it without her ongoing emotional support before and during labour. My labour was only 3h15 and I believe this was in part achieved because of Kusuma's support in the birthing room, making helpful suggestions, reminding me of my goals and encouraging me along.
