Lynne was wonderful!! She was ready and waiting at the hospital when we pulled up. She was attentive, calm and effective during my labor. While in labor we were waiting for my grandma to arrive to care for our children, so my husband had to stay with them while we waited. I don't know what we would've done without Lynne. While my husband stayed with our children in the waiting area, Lynne was able to walk with me and massage during contractions. My grandma made it before delivery and my husband was able to join in the labor process. Lynne's voice and directions were so helpful as I was pushing and helped me stay more focused. She also made sure I was fully hydrated, reminded me of questions I wanted to ask the dr/staff, and took lovely pictures of our family after. We're so thankful we found her!
Lynne was wonderful, I’m not sure what I would have done without her! Doula‘s are a much needed support in the crazy thing called labor; she is soft spoken and kind and had her supports ready for whatever labor threw at me. I am forever grateful for her presence!
We had a great experience with Lynne. During the pregnancy (and after), Lynne was quick to respond to any questions I had and made herself always available. She would check in with me if she knew I had an appointment or periodically. I felt like she was a great support even before labor. Her prenatal sessions were fun and very informative and helped my husband and I feel less anxious about the unknown realms of labor and childbirth (being that it was our first child). Lynne took the time to get to know my birth plan and brought up questions I had not considered in making it. In early labor, Lynne made me feel comfortable at home and once we got to the hospital, Lynne was gentle and worked well with the hospital staff. She would remind me of different parts of my birth plan as they happened and advocated for me throughout the process. For example, she would ask the staff not to talk while I had a contraction per my request. She encouraged me and continued to help me (as well as my husband) feel relaxed and not anxious in the hospital. I had a great birth experience and was able to have the natural childbirth I desired. I could not have done it without Lynne's support. She feels more like a part of our family now than the stranger we met just a few short months ago. I highly recommend her and we hope to have her there again with any subsequent children we may have!
My husband and I were preparing for birth with our first child. Society had portrayed child birth as a painful experience, and my husband and I were feeling anxious. We decided to pick Lynne so that we would have support during labor from someone who had come to know us. When I first spoke to her about why I wanted a doula, she reassured me by sending me information specifically to the areas that addressed my anxiety. I didn't know what doctor would deliver my baby since my provider had many different doctors on call. I wanted to have someone who knew what we wanted out of our birth experience. Lynne arranged two prenatal visits so that we had the chance to get to know her ahead of time. I wanted support for my husband as well, since he wasn't sure the best way to support me throughout labor. She continued to reach out and check on me between visits.
When the time came, Lynne met us at the hospital at midnight. She stayed through the birth until 2 pm the following day. She helped me breastfeed for the first time during skin-to-skin. She was like the energizer bunny. While my mom and husband took turns resting, she gave support and comfort through every contraction- which is saying something, because they were 3 minutes apart or less for 12 hours! When I was exhausted or overwhelmed with pain, she reminded me of the different coping strategies we had discussed, and suggested different things I could do to get up and move positions to distract myself and provide relief. She made sure I stayed hydrated by offering water, jello, and water ice while I labored. I didn't plan on a natural birth, but I had one thanks to Lynne. She was open to an epidural or whatever I needed, but I really wanted a natural birth, and I know I would have been frightened into an epidural without her support. She made me feel that I could deliver without an epidural. I had the positive birth experience I wanted, after hearing so many scary birth stories.
Lynne was an amazing person and doula to work with! She was open to and supportive of any birth plan changes that happened. She was incredible at getting me though each contraction. She also prepared me very well for what to expect during my birth as well as postpartum experiences. My birth would not have gobe the same without her! I give her 5 stars abd highly recommend her!!
We used Lynne as our doula for the birth of our baby girl! She was so supportive and amazing. She knew exactly what I needed and was able help support me and my husband. My birth went as I had hoped and having Lynne there played a large role in that. I would highly recommend Lynne Govatos and I will be using her For future babies!
