Birth is one of the most vulnerable experiences of a person’s life. Your birth matters! I believe that building a strong relationship with my client is the key to providing the best support possible. When you hire me, I’ll meet with you 2-3 times prenatally to discuss your birth plan and how I can best assist you. This usually includes going over breathing/relaxation techniques as well as labor/birth positions. This is a great time for partners to learn practical ways to support you as well! I provide continuous support through labor and birth, and assist with the immediate postpartum period (about 2 or 3 hours after birth). I also do a couple of postpartum visits where again, I assist you with whatever you may need- from cleaning your house to making food to assisting with breastfeeding positions to rocking babe while you get some rest. I include birth photography for all my clients as well!

I’ll never forget the day I met Sarah. We met at a local park to chat, while my husband and son played. I’m a very shy person, and don’t warm up to new people easily. Sarah and I ended up talking for over two hours; We talked kids, pregnancy, family, health and so much more! I remember getting in the car, and telling my husband “wow I wish she could be my best friend”. Haha
Sarah was absolute critical in the birth of my daughter. After a less than ideal first delivery that scared me so bad, I asked for a csection with my second. When we were discussing having our third, I said it’s absolutely necessary this time we have a doula. & I thank the stars for Sarah’s role in the birth. I can’t imagine that her birth day any other way.
Sarah went above and beyond for me and my family during my pregnancy. She gave extra attention because of past pregnancy complications. Always answered any questions I would text with a follow up, “how are you” and genuinely care. I had several false alarms for the fact I’ve been pregnant 3 times. But I had never gone into labor before and Sarah probably felt like I was a new mom. Haha But she didn’t make me feel silly or insecure about them at all.
I can’t say enough good things about her. & you are lucky to have her at your side on your special day.
Its so hard when you’ve met someone as amazing as Sarah to know where to begin! I found Sarah on Doula Match and from the first phone conversation, we instantly clicked. My first birth experience with my older daughter had been traumatic and I wanted a doula who could be there to not only support me but be an advocate for my wishes as well. Sarah went above and beyond that. I was laid off while pregnant and called Sarah, so upset. Right away, she insisted we meet for coffee and sat with me as I cried and worried about the financial stability of my family. She encouraged me as I hunted for a new job and cheered me on when I found one. No question was too small to ask her when it came to pregnancy, navigating dynamics with doctors, and prepping myself to give birth again. I opted for a c-section after experiencing some complications and throughout the decision making process, Sarah remained a steadfast and non-judgmental advisor. When the day of the birth arrived, Sarah hustled to get to us at the hjspital and was there right in time. She helped me to remain calm and comforted me throughout the entire procedure. Right after the birth, she helped my new daughter latch and stayed with my husband and I until we were settled into our postpartum room. In the postpartum period, Sarah was responsive and a calm presence, coming to visit me and being readily available on text. I’m confident in saying that Sarah was a HUGE factor in why my birth and postpartum period has been so positive and peaceful. She is truly a caregiver who is called to this profession. If you’re looking for a gentle and compassionate person to help you through this journey, you can stop here. Sarah is the real deal and anyone who works with her should count thems as fortunate. We love you, Sarah!
I decided late in my pregnancy that I wanted a doula, and I now I can't imagine what on earth I would have done without Sarah. I had a long labor and Sarah was incredible. She was with us for well over 24 hours. She talked me through fears when my labor stalled, rubbed my back through 17 hours of active labor, and was there holding a leg when I gave birth. I have said that my husband cried two times on that day - once when our daughter was born, and once when saying goodbye to Sarah. She was instrumental in our great birthing experience.
Sarah was so incredible and was an absolute game changer for my labor. From the very first meeting Sarah made me feel so comfortable and I knew she would be a perfect fit, it felt like we were old friends that had known each other for years.
Sarah makes sure to get to know you and your partner beforehand, she makes you feel very confident about the labor process. She is always available, even when I went into labor at 1:30am, she was quick to respond, super helpful, asking questions, making suggestions, and an eventual game plan of what time she would arrive to assist with labor at our home before going to the hospital.
I ended up having back labor, and I would not have made it 24 hours without an epidural if it hadn’t been for Sarah and her pain management tools. She assisted my husband in how to help me. During difficult, painful contractions towards the end when I was 8cm, her calm voice saying ‘take a big breath for baby,’ was the only one I could actually hear.
After being in labor for almost 24 hours, the midwife mentioned that my son wasn’t coming down quite straight or at the crown of his head, Sarah immediately took out her rebozo (basically a big sheet of fabric) placed it around pelvis and shook, she did this a few times. After my son was born the nurses told me they thought that was the only reason my son came down on the crown of his head and also the reason I didn’t have to push for very long. Her knowledge is invaluable, she’s ready for any situation. I personally think she saved me from a c-section just with providing that technique. She helped my labor go almost flawlessly.
I’m forever thankful for Sarah’s services and I’m so happy that we chose to hire her. I recommend her to all my pregnant friends or friends who are thinking about starting a family! If we have more kids she will for sure be our Doula again!!
My experience with Sarah is one I will never forget. I'm so very grateful to have had her there on the greatest day of my life. She is a very kind, caring person and you can tell she loves being a doula. The moment I met with her I knew she would be our doula and didn't need to meet any others. At the birth and during labor I had some complications but she remained so calm and helped me through. And as a new mom, she helped me get through a lot of firsts. I would definitely recommend Sarah to every mother to be. Thank you for everything. Next baby we have we would to have her again as our doula.
There are no words to describe how grateful I am for all of Sarah's help while pregnant, during the birth and postpartum. She went above and beyond what I expected and I could not have had the birth that i wanted without her.
We first met Sarah through Skype and immediately knew that we wanted her to be our doula. We had a couple of meetings prior to the birth where she discussed everything from birth positions and helping my husband understand what he could do to help to talking about post partum depression. This gave us confidence in ourselves and a greater understanding of what was to come. As soon as I went into labor she met us and during the whole process she used lots of positive affirmation and different techniques/positions to help me have the natural birth that I wanted. She made me feel confident, empowered and comfortable. The birth went better than expected and a lot of that is thanks to Sarah!
She came to our house a few days after birth, one night last minute when I was having trouble with our son latching and then again a couple of weeks later to check in.
She is well educated on birthing positions, what happens to the body before, during and after birth and just has a really good general knowledge base about the industry and pregnancy.
She has such a warm, beautiful, bubbly personality and without a doubt, I would recommend her to everyone! Thank you so much once again for everything. You are AMAZING!
We decided to use a doula because this was our first child and we wanted to go all natural (no pain meds or even an IV). I wanted my husband and I to have the best birth experience possible. When I began my search for a doula I spoke to Sarah on the phone first and then did an in-person interview. Immediately after the phone call I felt a connection and thought she was going to be the best match. I interviewed about 4-5 doulas and I was right. Sarah was wonderful. She is very knowledgeable and compassionate. On the day of my labor I text her and told her I thought this was the real deal. She guided me to make sure what I thought was right. She arrived at my house about 2-3 hours later. This was perfect because when I first contacted her it was very early in my labor. She stayed with me and my husband throughout everything and guided him on things he could do to make me feel more comfortable. She listened to my needs and knew exactly when to step in, give guidance and when to step back. She is considered a part of our family now. After all was done and our son was born she stayed for 2-3 more hours until we were ready to rest.
While being our doula she also took our birth photos. Within a few days she had all photos delivered to us and they were perfect. We will cherish her and the photos for a lifetime. Although many believe a doula is only necessary for the first birth, we will continue to have her for the rest of our children’s births. My husband was not really sold on the necessity of a doula in the beginning but after birth he was amazed on how wonderful and helpful a doula was. Not just any doula, Sarah is AMAZING.
After birth she visited our home 2 times to check in and make sure we were adjusting and doing well. She also helped us with our first submerged bath! <333 love you Sarah!
I cannot begin to explain th amount of gratitude I have for Sarah! She went above and beyond as my birth doula. She is truly gifted at what she does and no doubt meant to be assisting in the process of bringing babies earthside (my midwife loved having her there as well)! She was so kind, compassionate and supportive through the whole process. Our meetings before birth were so organic and comfortable yet she was very respectful and professional when it came to labor time. She made me feel so supported and confident throughout the whole experience. During labor she intuitively knew when I needed her by my side and when I needed space. She was such a great balance of motherly wisdom and friendly companionship. She is full of knowledge and resources for everything in her field. I have yet to meet another person who is as selfless as her, she really made me feel special in this sacred time of life for me as a woman. She honored my desires and my birth far exceeded my expectations. I was in labor for over 21 hours and had to keep walking around to keep labor progressing almost the entire time and she was by my side for most of it. Sarah is understanding and patient and was such a lovely person to have in the room during this experience. She is so organized and prepared with her big bag of goodies, she even let me borrow one of her own personal birth balls during my last trimester, she would give me samples of different essential oils and to top it off she took some very raw and beautiful photos of Asher’s birth that I get to keep forever. I cannot wait to have her with me for my next pregnancy, she is seriously amazing! Thank you Sarah!
Empowering, supported, extraordinary, safe, positive. These are words that come to mind when I think of my birth experience with my wonderful doula. From the moment Sarah said "I do" to being my doula, she was incredible. During my pregancy I suffered with hyperemesis gravidarum where I needed a PICC line all while caring for my toddler, to say I was very stressed would be an understatement. Sarah offered everything from emotional support to helping me with different stretches and positions for my sore pregnant body, and even a massage to help me relax the closer it became to baby's arrival. She always responded very quickly when I had question. Towards the end like most mothers, I became anxious and really just wanted baby to be here. She reassured me he wasn't going to stay in forever and talked me off a ledge! When it came time for baby to make his arrival, I called Sarah at about 230am and she immediately answered. We had a few false alarms leading up to the real deal, but she was supportive and ready to go every single time I called for her. Arriving at the birth center, Sarah greeted me with a big smile and made me feel so calm and confident. Knowing I had someone with so much knowledge in my corner made it much easier to walk into the birth center. My first birth I had a lot of birth trauma, so feeling positive and calm this second time around with her presence and support made a world of difference. Sarah showed excellent communication with the nurses and midwife who were also caring for me, and she advocated for me when necessary. Baby displayed some heart decels and then shoulder dystocia and despite that, Sarah kept calm, which kept ME calm, and she gently reminded me to breathe and to focus. Post partum, she supported our entire family in the great transition from 3 of us to 4. She helped me get comfortable and with breastfeeding and cleaning up. A service like hers is absolutely irreplaceable. I could never thank her enough!
I first met Sarah as a student in a birth doula workshop where she was a volunteer speaker. I was immediately struck by her enthusiasm and obvious passion for providing a safe and welcoming space for laboring mothers. She has an innate drive for helping and empowering families to make informed decisions.
When it came time for the birth of my fourth child, Sarah volunteered as a backup photographer even though she had only known me a short while. Sarah responded promptly and positively once I was in labor and unable to contact my primary photographer. When she arrived, she immediately introduced herself to my birth team, and got to work taking photos (which turned out AMAZING!!!). More importantly, her calm and positive presence really contributed to creating a warm and productive environment for me to work through a difficult labor in. Without ever having prepared with me postpartum, she instinctively read the needs of everyone in the room and was able to interpret my own labor-land grunts and wordless communications better than my mother! She guided my 5 year old through his questions and desire to help, and was generally just an amazing addition to the team.
She's the kind of doula who immediately feels like family because she works from her heart. I strongly reccomend her to anyone seeking an empowering and positive birth experience.
Sarah North made my birth experience incredible. I didn't originally plan on having a doula at the birth of my daughter, but my midwife recommended Sarah to my husband and I and we couldn't be more grateful. Sarah was there every step of the way for me and made my birth go smoother than I could have hoped. Not only did she make sure I was educated on birthing techniques, positions, and the processes my body would go through, but she made sure I was emotionally prepared for everything as well. Sarah's presence at my birth helped me remain calm, focused, and empowered and the photos she offered to take came out beautifully and they're something I'll cherish for the rest of my life. Deciding to hire Sarah North to be my doula was the best decision I could have made.
