Kathryn was a wonderful support for me from our first meeting on. She was very thorough and non judgmental when discussing my hopes for the birth, she always checked in to make sure I'd be comfortable with any ideas she had. She has a very calming and loving demeanor so it's easy to feel comfortable with her! Kathryn came fully prepared to the hospital about an hour after I called her when I was in labor, as per our contract and discussions. I had a crazy fast labor and had already given birth but she stayed for a while and really helped me in that immediate post partum period. She made sure I was comfortable and hydrated and helped me relax for that painful first urination after birth. Kathryn went above and beyond by checking in on my older kids for me also. And her post partum visit a week or so later was so nice as well, to talk about the birth experience (I always want to talk about it but don't want to bore people who aren't interested) and to get a shower while she held the newborn! I would definitely recommend Kathryn as your doula!
The first thing my husband and I noted when we started interviewing doulas was her calming voice. After a phone interview, she left us both feeling calm and serene so we knew it was a perfect fit!
Kathryn was my doula through two unmedicated births. Going into this process I was nervous and still learning how her role would help me through everything. She checked in with me throughout my pregnancy. She sincerely listened to my first-time mom rants and worries and anxiousness and found words to calm me every time. I honestly could not have done this without her. She kept us informed, comfortable, and happy through the entire labor and delivery. Her thoughtfulness, preparedness and knowledge made us feel like pros by the time I went into labor for the second time and she was there every step of the way. She has this uncanny sixth sense of when she needs to step in and help and when to let us fly solo (knowing she was also close by if we needed a tag-in). My husband said having her there gave him more confidence in his role during both births. If we ever go for our third, Kathryn will be my first phone call!
We love Kathryn. We are first time parents, and we were looking for a knowledgeable, supportive, easy-going coach for labor/delivery. I also wanted someone to connect with my husband and be a support to him, too. Kathryn was wonderful. My husband has told me many times, "I can't imagine what it would have been like without Kathryn." I liked the idea of natural childbirth, but didn't know if I could do it. It was important to me to have someone who could be supportive regardless of what I chose. Kathryn was great. She just wanted me to have the best childbirth experience possible, whether I used meds or not. She eased my concerns about my pregnancy, and she was the one person who kept me calm and focused during labor, with her soothing, calm spirit. She stayed with me the whole time, held my hand, massaged my back, and wiped my forehead when needed. She has a wholde "bag of tricks" to make labor more bearable. The birth of my son is a treasured memory for me, in large part because of Kathryn. Another really special memory for me is the postpartum visit. She helped me process the birth experience, we talked about all the details and laughed together. Kathryn guided me through a scary experience and made it a wonderful memory.
