I never used a doula for my three previous births, but for my fourth I wanted to use one based upon things I learned I needed help with from my other three. My delivery was quick so Amy didn’t have much to do (sorry Amy ??), but during my brief delivery she was very reassuring and helpful in keeping me together. She stayed with me for over an hour after delivery which was much needed. The biggest thing I needed was postpartum care. There was no question that I wanted Amy to come to my home to help me during by fourth trimester. That is the area I struggle with the most. Amy was a tremendous help to me. From helping with my older three to giving me guidance on what could be causing my newborn’s fussiness to just talking to me and keeping me company when I felt very isolated; I don’t know what I would have done without her. If I was just a few years younger, I could probably be talked into having another baby just so I could have Amy with me through the experience again. I highly recommend her to anyone considering hiring a doula.

As a mom of four, I understand how each birth can be very different. I also understand how important preparation is. When my daughter and son-in-law were getting ready for the birth of their first child, they were concerned about having extra support during the delivery. When I met Amy (almost accidentally when she arrived at my business!), I knew that she had the personality that would connect well with my daughter. They did hit it off. Amy was able to suggest exercises and stretches that were very helpful, especially late in pregnancy when S was very uncomfortable. When it was time for the delivery, Amy showed up with her magic bag of tricks to keep S supported and on track. The first part of the labor was very intense and when the figured out that V was sunny side up, Amy was able to position S so the baby moved and the rest of the labor went beautifully. My daughter and son-in-law both expressed how much Amy made the difference in the whole process. She reassured them throughout the labor and delivery. Her support allowed them to relax into the experience.

As for myself and my husband, she was able to give us reassurance, as well. Knowing that she was working with S and D throughout the late part of the pregnancy was a relief. She was able to give them the attention they needed to answer questions and coach them through the last weeks of preparation...which gave me a huge sense of relief as a worried mom/grandma. As for the actual birth, Amy kept us in the loop and let us know when our dear, sweet bundle of a granddaughter arrived.

Did I mention that she took AMAZING photos of everyone and I have them framed in my house!? What a blessing! S and D were able to focus on the baby and we all have the beautiful photos to remind us of the day.

Overall, Amy's presence made a huge difference for all of us on that very special day.

My husband and I hired Amy for doula services when I became pregnant with our first child. We decided to look for a doula because my husband travels for work and we don’t have any local family. It was important to us to find someone who we felt comfortable with if he was away- but also to support both my husband and myself throughout this new experience. Meeting Amy for the first time I could see she was the right fit. Her experience in nursing, ability to provide evidence based information/ resources and caring demeanor was invaluable. I was excited and relieved to have her support and expertise. Amy provided us with a lot of resources ranging from laboring/ birthing techniques, podcasts, websites and books. She responsed in a timely manner and answered any questions or concerns we had. She gave us support and guidance in the decision to switch doctors offices mid pregnancy when it was not a good fit and we were still new to the area. From the moment early labor started, my husband was able to reach out to Amy via phone or text for guidance.  Amy met us at the doctor’s office for a labor check and shared some techniques with us that helped to relieve some of the back labor I was having. That evening I was admitted to the hospital, Amy arrived within minutes of us arriving in triage and stayed with us through to baby’s arrival. Throughout the whole process we felt confident in asking questions and making decisions that came our way. Amy felt like a part of the family and continues to keep in touch! She brought ease, comfort and empowerment to both me and my husband. My husband felt that he could provide me with what I needed, and step away if he needed a moment knowing I would be in good hands with Amy. Amy was able to explain and guide us at the hospital with different options and read exactly what my husband and I needed in the moment. We are so grateful for Amy’s expertise and would highly recommend her doula services!

Amy is an incredible and kind doula. Her energy will get you through the toughest moments in labor! My partner and I enjoyed her sense of humor which she uses very appropriately at just the right times. She is knowledgeable at navigating all aspects of birth planning. I will call her as soon as we are expecting again without hesitation!

Amy is an amazing doula. I am a single mother by choice and Amy was my birthing partner and doula in one. I can not recommend the Amy and the benefits of a doula enough.

Amy was an amazing doula to work with! She was patient, kind, and informative. There were times during my birth where I wasn't the nicest to her or my other birth team members, but she remained professional and sought out to make sure my birth plan was met as closely as possible. I was able to deliver my daughter without an epidural, which was my main goal, and only needed nitrous oxide starting at 9.5 cm and beyond. I will definitely be using her services again in the future if I need it.

I cannot speak highly enough about Amy. From talking and meeting ahead of time, to the labor and birth and beyond, she was amazing. Her passion for what she does was evident from the first meeting we had. She made sure she knew our preferences, provided a wealth of knowledge and advice when needed, and were incredibly helpful throughout my pregnancy, labor and postpartum with our first child.  Amy was with us for her birth and she was incredible. She helped my husband help me as well as helping me, advocating for us with the midwife and truly jumping in and taking the lead when necessary.  She was always available through our texts to answer questions before we went to the hospital. She really helped us have the birth we wanted. We would definitely use Amy again if we have any more children and recommend her to everyone!

We are so thankful that Amy was our doula for our baby's birth in October 2019!  She was there for us before, during and after the birth.  Beforehand, she met with me several times and came to one of the prenatal appointments.  When I went into labor she responded immediately to my texts at 3:30 in the morning and helped me decide when it was right to head to the hospital.  She met us at the hospital and was by my side the entire time!  Her encouraging words and presence were invaluable during labor and birth.  She calmly and knowledgeably gave others in my support team instructions on how to help me get through the contractions.  There was one moment during the pushing when I didn't think I could do it, but Amy knew exactly what to say to help me refocus.  After the birth, Amy has been a supportive presence.  She provided helpful breastfeeding support and continues to be there if I have any questions.  Even though this was our third baby and we knew what to expect, I still highly recommend the support of a good doula.  Amy was the most effective, knowledgeable and kindest doula we've had!
