Sarah is the most welcoming and warmest person I have ever met. She radiates trust and competence. She brings a level of intuition to birth that made me feel empowered through my entire pregnancy and birth process. Sarah was the doula and photographer for the birth of our second child, at home. We needed someone that our young daughter would also be comfortable with. Our daughter must have been able to sense the mother in Sarah; she sat in Sarah's lap comforted to witness the birth of her baby sister. Sarah captured a scene of our family just moments after the birth that hangs on our wall and prompts our three year old daughter to tell her favorite story: the magical birth of her sister.
Sarah was our doula for the birth of our 6th child. Both my husband loved having Sarah's knowledge and loving unbiased support from the prenatal period through post partum. My husband especially loved the calm reassurance she provied during labor. To me she was invaluable in the postpartum period. Sarah is personable and intuitive making her a great part to any birth team.
What can we say about our birth experience with Sarah as our doula? Hire her if you are looking for someone who goes above and beyond what is expected, someone who will be your photographer, coach, chef, and friend. From the moment Sarah arrived to meet us at the hospital, throughout what was at times an arduous but in the end utterly rewarding labor and birth, she was by our side providing advice and comfort both physically and mentally. We hired Sarah to be our birth photographer as well as our doula, and she alternated between these roles seamlessly without us ever feeling like she was neglecting the responsibilities of either. Being that this was our first pregnancy, we weren't sure if adding a doula to the mix of nurses, midwives and doctors already in the room would make us feel overwhelmed, but Sarah's presence was not at all intrusive-- when we were in the zone together, powering through a contraction or breathing deeply together between pushes, she was a quiet observer, but the second one of us showed any signs of panic or uncertainty, she suddenly appeared by our side to give us exactly the support we needed in that moment. The aftercare with Sarah has been just as excellent as the services we received during the birth. She arrived at our home a week later to deliver a custom made photo album that contained some of the most deeply meaningful, precious pictures from iour birth experience. She even brought us some homemade chicken pot pies from her farm, knowing we would be needing all the dinner help we could get in the weeks to come. Thank you for everything Sarah!
