Danielle was an incredible part of our birth story. She was my doula for our third child and I deeply desired a natural birth(my first), but wanted it to be in the hospital and knew I needed support. Upon talking to Danielle and then meeting with her twice I felt so comfortable and much more confident in myself. She never influenced my decision in anyway. She was knowledgeable, supportive, kind, and encouraging. She offered resources, drafted a birth plan for me, and we went over any questions I had. I instantly felt connected to her and excited about the process. She was available through text and so very helpful to me.
On the day I went into labor, I kept telling her I thought it wasn’t time, and quickly realized it was the real deal. She got the hospital so fast and was able to help me through the hardest part of labor. Her calm nature, reminders of what I wanted, advocacy for me, and general encouragement truly helped me achieve the unmedicated birth I desired.
This for me was a huge part of my story. Being able to give birth without an epidural may have saved our son’s life. Our son was born with major complications due to a last minute placental abruption during pushing. He had to come immediately and we were able to deliver him quick enough. He ended up spending 19 days in the nicu as a full term baby.
Danielle was with me as I hadn’t processed the severity of the event and showed no judgment when I was aloof to what was happening. She stayed with me for hours while my husband was in the nicu. She only left when I said I think we will be ok tonight, please go get some rest. I know she truly cares about her moms and babies. I fully recommend Danielle and am sorry I didn’t have her for my first two births!
As I am a first time mother and chiropractor, it was important to me to approach birth in a more natural way. Danielle was an amazing coach throughout my journey- helping to create our birth plan and providing us with resources to prepare for labor, delivery, and postpartum. Danielle was there if I had any questions or concerns and her gentle nurturing personality always put me at ease. During labor Danielle and my husband helped me through the contractions and it was with Danielle’s constant physical and emotional support that I was able to have the birth that I wanted - a vaginal birth without an epidural. I am so thankful to Danielle for helping my baby daughter into this world!
Danielle was an invaluable source of strength, wisdom, calm, and compassion during my pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum period. As a first-time mom, I found Danielle to be an incredible resource. I always felt comfortable asking her any and all questions about my pregnancy and plans for delivery, and she always provided timely, thoughtful, judgment-free responses to my questions. She was also more than generous with her time. When I found out that my baby was breech, Danielle provided a host of information about how I might get the baby to turn. Ultimately, my baby would not turn and I developed preeclampsia, but Danielle’s support, compassion, and knowledge remained immeasurably valuable during my C-section and recovery.
It is clear that Danielle has a passion for her doula work. She helps women feel informed and empowered during their pregnancies and deliveries, and she provides a safe space for women during the vulnerable post-partum period. She carries all of this out with the utmost care, compassion, professionalism, and without judgment. With Danielle as a resource, I felt more self-assured and capable in navigating my first pregnancy and caring for both my baby and myself during the postpartum period. I am incredibly grateful to her and highly recommend her services.
Danielle is sensitive, thoughtful, strong and consistent. She is the kind of rock that is really a gift in a moment of life when you feel so out of control. Throughout the pregnancy she was available on text for our questions. We met twice before our birth and those meetings were well planned and she was a great listener. During the birth she was quiet but strong, empowering my husband to stick to our plan through some difficult periods and quietly supporting me. In fact it was only a couple days later that I realized how supportive she had been when I was talking to my husband about what a priceless support she had been to him. She was unobtrusive but totally available. We were at the hospital about 12 hours and at first I was a little worried that she was going to be bored if it drug on, however as labor progressed I stopped worrying, focused on myself and the work to be done and looking back was so thankful she was there to walk with us through such a special day. I would call her a still strong voice, bringing a confident spirit to the room and constant reminder that we had prepared for this moment and were ready. In the end I had the VBAC I wanted and it was a very difficult labor, but we did it.
My only critical feedback is that I'm not really sure what the postpartum visit was supposed to be. We didn't ever have the time in our crazy newborn days to schedule it. I would have appreciated it if that was better understood and postpartum was better prepared for. I think we often spend a lot of time thinking about the birth, but that is just a day (a very important day!). It does figure into how your postpartum goes, but preparing for that before you are in it is so critical. If I have any more children I will definitely spend more time giving attention to how I prepare for after the birth and not just the birth.
Danielle is the amazing owner of Lioness Doula Services, LLC. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and my guardian angel during my pregnancy and the delivery of my baby. The insight and care she provided me went above and beyond, even when she was thrown a curve ball and my baby was delivered not breathing. She was my rock and stood by my side in my weakest, most fearful moment. She even provided me with after care and any resources that I needed. Not only do I feel like I created an amazing relationship, I have walked away with a friend as well.
I hope she might be able to help other families on their journeys! ??
Danielle was an amazing doula for the birth of my second child. To be honest initially I hesitated to hire a doula this time around, because our experience with another doula who attended the birth of our first child was just “okay” despite her being very experienced. At the advice of our midwives at the last minute we found and hired Danielle! I was very committed to achieving a VBAC and at the time she had accomplished her own and had successfully assisted another mother with her VBAC and that drew us to her. She was awesome throughout and very flexible to our needs and desires – from initial meeting to discuss our past birth experience, expectations and desires, through more than 24 hours of active labor at the hospital, she was an awesome resource for me and my husband and 100% supportive of my birth plan. She completely understood my desire for a VBAC, and barely left our side through the whole ordeal, which included use of a birthing pool, several failed epidural attempts, loss of my daughter’s heartrate indication and resulting need for an internal monitor, Pitocin, and ultimately, successful VBAC of my daughter after 40 hours of labor (over 24 of which was with Danielle by my side)! Even after the birth she waited until things calmed down and we had successfully latched and made sure we had food before she left. Her dedication to making sure we had the best birth experience possible was a huge blessing!
Danielle provided advice and support in decisions throughout, without ever being pushy or trying to sway our desires. She was also an amazing sounding board throughout and my reality checker when I needed one. I absolutely recommend Danielle. It is clear that being a doula is her passion and her calling. She’s already top-notch, and as she gains experience and attends more births she will only get better! I only wish we still lived in the area to use her for our next birth!
As a first time mom and living in the area with no family around, I felt confident about having Danielle's support throughout my pregnancy and during the birth. She was very thorough in getting us ready, asking what my needs and preferences were, and putting together a game plan for the big event. She took the time to help me develop a plan around the type of experience I wanted. Danielle was super communicative from our first meeting until after the baby came, and we were able to meet multiple times. She kept my partner involved the whole way too. After I arrived at the hospital, Danielle kept in touch the entire time and made the decision to come at the exact right time. I'm glad she knew, because it was my first time and I had no idea when was the "right time." Because of the interventions I needed, I was bedbound and didn't get to use all of the techniques we planned but she was still very valuable in the hospital room. I was very happy she was there for support and assistance.
I talked to a handful of doulas and felt an immediate connection with Danielle. My instincts were right, and I found her to be gentle, completely non-judgmental, and very supportive. Any time I had questions about anything, whether they were for the last few weeks of pregnancy, during labor, or for recovery, Danielle followed up with helpful information right away. I wanted to have a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) at a hospital and hoped to have it be unmedicated, and Danielle provided me information and the support during labor to help me make that happen. She never pushed me to have my labor any other way, and had a lot of resources to help guide me to make my own decisions. I was due around the holidays, and was nervous about people being unavailable, and she not only reserved a back up doula, but arranged for me to talk to the back up doula so that I would be comfortable in case I did need her. During the delivery, every time I had a contraction, Danielle was there, without my having to tell her I needed her. She either provided counterpressure to help with the contractions or guided my husband to do so. She reminded the nurses and doctors about what I wanted without being obtrusive in any way, and I believe her presence during labor and support before labor really helped make everything go smoothly. I highly recommend Danielle without any reservation, and wish I'd hired her (or had any other good doula) for my first labor which was not nearly as smooth.
