My husband and I were blessed to have Elissa join us for the birth of our daughter. Elissa was an invaluable resource as we became first time parents, particularly throughout the pregnancy. She was always available through a phone call or a meeting to answer questions or to just listen as we talked through decisions. My labor and delivery was an induction in a hospital and originally I had hoped to deliver without pain medication. Elissa was supportive while I tried to manage the pain and then was also seemlessly supportive when I ultimately decided to have an epidural. She was a calming presence without overstepping her role as a doula, allowing my husband to be a partner in the birth. She has checked in with us postpartum several times and continues to be a sounding board as we navigate the world of parenthood. I would recommend Elissa to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and caring doula.
We used Elissa as our postpartum doula since we don't have family in the area to help with our firstborn. I credit the information Elissa gave on establishing breastfeeding prior to our daughter's arrival as a main reason we were able to start successfully and with relative ease. During her visits, Elissa also gave validation of our latch/technique, as well as guidance on different hold positions. Later in the postpartum journey, she helped us sort through the mountains of information about infant sleep and feeding routines. She was always responsive to our needs in person and via phone/text and always showed genuine care an concern for our family. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Elissa and look foward to working with her again in the future.
I recommend Elissa 100%. Elissa was my doula for my second baby and I am so happy with the experience. She is a great listener and spent literally hours with me on the phone as I navigated thorough pre-birth gitters and post-birth concerns. I never felt like she had any agenda other than supporting the birth that I wanted/had.
What I appreciated most about Elissa during the actual labor/birth was her attention toward MY needs. I feel like it is very easy for ALL of the attention to immediately switch to baby after birth and sometimes the work and exhaustion of the mother is overlooked as this happens. Elissa stayed there for ME. I will never forget how she helped me relax post birth and honored everything that I had just been through.
If you are on the fence about hiring a doula, I would say that it is the best thing that you can do for yourself and Elissa is a great choice.
Elissa provides excellent doula services. We felt very comfortable through our pregnancy and birth experience knowing she was there to support us and make us feel at ease during such a precious yet challenging time. She supported all our birthing decisions and was able to provide insight and real-life experiences to help us make informed decisions. I was relieved to have her on-call services for post-partum support in breastfeeding. Elissa will provide the doula support you need in just the right dose!
Having a doula was crucial for my husband and my emotional state- prenatal, birth, and postpartum. We couldn't have asked for a better birth and postpartum partner. Elissa stands apart from other Doulas in many ways. One of the most crucial is that she has inside knowledge of birthing hospitals. She’s a pro at navigating the confusing aspects of hospital labor and delivery. The nurses loved her because she supported us without stepping on their toes.
Elissa supported all of my decisions without bias and provided me with an invaluable sounding board every step of the way. I suffer from anxiety, my pregnancy was high risk, and I planned on an epidural. Elissa was able to support this high medical intervention birth which ended in an emergency C-Section as well as she could have supported an unmedicated birth. Prior to the birth, her check-ins and meetings gave me a lot to think about in preparation for labor and delivery. During labor, she was able to support both my husband and me emotionally in additional to providing me with physical and informational support.
As a Certified Lactation Counselor, Elissa helped my son and I establish breastfeeding from the first hour after his birth. When I was unable to continue with it exclusively, she helped make sure that I tried everything and then provided emotional and informational support for the transition to supplementation- all without judgement. Elissa also provided invaluable newborn care support and instruction.
Elissa was such an important part of our birth experience. She provided continuous support leading up to birth via face-to-face meetings, texts, phone calls, and emails. She gave us the confidence to look forward to our birth and helped me understand the information that I was recieving from my OB. Elissa also supported both my husband and myself during the actual labor and delivery. She quietly guided us along and was a calming presence as my birth preferences changed. With her there I was able to make educated choices and feel supported in my decisions. I also appreciated that Elissa took the time to process my birth experience with me afterwards. This provided me with new insights and a sense of closure. I highly recommend Elissa as a birth doula and I know that she would be a positive addition to any birth team.
