Monalisa is simply wonderful! I had trouble finding a doula to help support me and my potential Christmas baby, but she did not hesitate to take me on as a client. She came over frequently and talked to me about my wishes (a VBAC) and what positions, pain management, labor techniques, etc. I thought would be best. She involved my husband by showing him how to support me in labor and relaxation positions, and the two of them together were always able to lighten the mood when I was anxious or tense. During my labor (an induction) she reassured me that every decision my husband and I made was a responsible one. She and my husband took turns with different positions and comfort measures. She was able to stay by my side while my husband went to get food or make phone calls. She brought me a goody basket with nauseau candies and flavorong for my water, and helped my husband keep me hydrated. She was with me the entire time, and only left my side after my baby boy had been born and she helped me to establish breastfeeding (something that I was not able to do successfully with my first child). Even now, seven weeks postpartum, she continues to do everything in her ability to help and reassure me with breastfeeding. I had my successful VBAC and could not have asked for a better experience. I know that it would not have been possible without Monalisa's encouragement, love, support, and laughter all along my journey. Thank you Monalisa! We love you!
I am a brand new mom and I don't know how I would have delivered my first baby without Monalisa! She was completely supportive throughout the entire process, from the weeks leading up to my son's birth to the weeks after his birth. She helped to educate me on my options and always maintained a non-biased attitude. I felt as prepared as I could be when it was finally time to give birth to my son. Things did not go as planned, of course, because nature took over, but Monalisa helped to keep me as close to my birth plan as possible and I felt confident in my decisions throughout my 40 hour labor! The most important support that she provided was her gift of massage during labor! I wouldn't have been able to tolerate the pain of labor at all if it wasn't for her massaging me throughout. It helped to relieve the pain and stress. Like I said, I could not have had this baby without her! Thank you, Monalisa!
Monalisa was an amazing doula through out my pregnancy and birth. She was always so supportive and keeping me informed whenever I had questions or worries. I had preterm rupture early on and was able to heal and she was always there for not only me but my family as well. She really helped my 3rd pregnancy and birth be so much more enjoyable than I imagined. She helped me be comfortable with my pregnancy and the process of it all. It’s really like having a second mother there for you. I highly recommend her to have in your corner through out this beautiful time in your life. I wish I would have had her with all my pregnancies! You’re the best Monalisa!
I loved feeling more confident with baby number two! I know that confidence came from the education support and love from MonaLisa!
It was important for me to feel like I had a say in my options at the hospital. MonaLisa had a tons of information about cord clamping, baby shots, birthing positions, and more. I honestly had no clue we had any say in that stuff. With my first I was never asked about any of those options or lead to believe I had a choice in those things. I felt empowered and confident with all the education MonaLisa provided.
My labor was different and I won’t go into the whole story but I’ll tell a little about it. I had been sick for about ten days with high fevers and night sweats/body aches that quite frankly were terrifying being as pregnant as I was. I felt disregarded and not validated with my medical care but MonaLisa was in contact with me almost everyday with suggestions and encouragement to me to advocate for myself and baby. My water broke on the 10th night of these symptoms and we both decided I would wait for me to go into actor labor being my birth plan was to try and labor at home as much as possible. I never went into active labor and although I hadn’t communicated with her about it I decided I wanted to go into the hospital early morning. When I woke up she had already called me and was practically outside my house to take me in. It was so nice to have someone else have the urgency you felt as well. Long story short it was a mess at the hospital. Nothing against the staff it’s just everything that could have gone wrong kind of did. MonaLisa sat by me the whole time offering suggestions, encouragement, and peace. There was quite a bit of advocating I had to do at the hospital as well and I know I wouldn’t have been equipped to do it with out her! So grateful we hired a doula and SO grateful we hired MonaLisa!
As I sit here thinking of the many great things of Monique to say......There is soo many. First of, I’m extremely happy I had a Doula at my NATURAL birthing. She was very attentive when I started to have contraction and when I got to the hospital, she talked to me. Helped me through my contractions, walked with me, guided me through pain and push. She set the tone and kept calm. I can’t forget to tell you how she was there for me through my pregnancy, every month, checking on me, sharing information and making sure I was ok, health and mental wise. Very friendly and caring ???? She genuinely loves being a Doula and it shows. I HIGHLY recommend you have this Doula at your next birthing.
Our pregnancy ended sadly for us with a miscarriage but we wouldn't have made it through without the support of MonaLisa. We are hopeful for our rainbow baby and we will ask for her support again very soon. You won't find anyone as personally invested as MonaLisa. She remembered all my appts and would text me well wishes, she randomly checked on me and was always encouraging. I remember after working with her for 4-5 months she mentioned she had to meet another client at that time, and I was shocked lol she was so attentive to me that it hadn't even crossed my mind that I wasnt her ONLY!
The day we lost the heartbeat she came over then went to the store and made dinner for the whole family. She held me while I cried. She gave me a massage and she even tried to give us back the deposit we had paid just 3 days prior. She offered to go to appts with me, and to sit with my while I misscarried our baby. She was strong enough and understandng when I asked her to look at graphic pictures I desperatly needed to show someone to understand what I was looking at. My miscarriage took 3 1/2 long, gut wrenching months. I waited for a natural expulsion, then took pills, that stilll didnt work so I finally had a d&c. She honored my choices the entire time. When she didnt have an answer for me she sought one out. She has helped me find ways to heal and honor my child. On my last appt to the dr while awaiting some potntially scary news she just popped in on her way to drop her own child off at school just to give me a hug.
She has been transparent about who she is and what she suggests, but also incredibly focused and oriented on what was ultimately important to us. She even was a faux counselor during a couple emotionally charged moments. She is funny, kind, passionate, and absolutely loves helping bring babies into this world by loving their mommas!
My experience was amazing! I am a first time mom and didn't know what to expect. I rember sitting at home and my contractions getting stronger and stronger and the more i got them the less I was able to breath! I remember caling Monalosa and she rushed to come get me to take me in the hospital. As soon as she came for me she calmed me down so much! I was able to get through the contracts without them hurting so bad. She helped me breath properly and made sure I was comfortable as much possible! i LOVED how she stucked by my side and never left and how she made SURE the doctor and nurses know what I wanted and didn't want! She made it clear to them when I couldnt. that was one thing I loved most about my experience! She speaks for what you want and will stick to it all the way out! She held my hand the entire time! I remember going in at 5cm and then 2 hours later my babies head was almost out. I just remember them telling me not to push it was so hard not to I felt Iike I was gonna black out but i had monalisa right there by my side And she made sure I was staying cautious and was able to hold the baby until the doctor was ready. Without her I probably would of had an epidural forced on me (i wanted natural) and I would of never been able to get through those contactions She was there the whole way and stuck to my entire birth plan(: it was an amazing experience I highly recommend her! She helped me succeed the labor I wanted! I couldn't thank her enough.
Monalisa was a very kind and spunky doula. She has a lot of energy without being overbearing. She regularly kept in touch during the last few weeks of oregnancy and helped keep my spirits up. I had a very fast labor and she was able to stay with me and give the support I needed at the moment. She helped my partner and myself stay focused on the present. She slipped right in with the birth team without stepping on any toes. My partner found his niche and Monalisa worked herself in around him.
I would highly recommend Monalisa to anyone looking for a doula with a lot of energy. I am naturally reserved and she was able to connect with me and I felt entirely comfortable around her at every stage. My partner also found the value in a doula through Monalisa, so those with hesitant partners need not fear.
My experience was just amazing. Without the help I don't know how I would've done it. Going into labor my first was pretty scary and I didn't really know what to expect. With the help it seemed so much easier, helping me take my mind off the pain and focusing on something else was a BIG help. Having and doing things with thing such as the birth balls, the music, lights, massaging, and smells of scents helped a lot. I couldn't be more thankful to how everything turned out. ??
