I offer a free consult to see if we are a good match! If we are not a match, I will do my best to find a doula who is. If financial assistance is needed, I am flexible and will accept monthly payments. After we have the signed contract, we will have two meetings (or more if time allows). I will be on call for you two weeks prior to your due date and until the baby is born. We will remain in contact through out your pregnancy for any questions, concerns etc. After birth I will do a postpartum visit. I look forward to a birth experience with you!

Karry was nothing short of amazing! I had a very difficult labor and she helped us stay focused and on track with the birth we wanted with minimal interventions. She is very knowledgable and is very good at helping to navigate the hospital setting. She is a very talented massage therapist as well. I had quite a few massages before birth and she was wonderful during labor especially since I had excruciating back labor. She was so patient and compassionate and kind. She is extremely positive and focused. I can't say enough about her! I also received placenta encapsulation from her which was excellent. I highly recommend her as a doula.
We interviewed 4 doulas before deciding on Karry. She reminded me of my best friend and there was just something about her that I knew she was the right one (I know sounds sappy). She even gave us a hug at the end of the interview. She is a very warm person which I liked a lot. She answered all my questions and helped me get to a place where I was ready, even excited to do an unmedicated birth. I needed to get induced becasue my fluid was low and there was risk of the cord getting wrapped around the babies neck. I called my husband to tell him the news and then called Karry. I burst in to tears while on the phone with her because I didn't want an induction. She calmed me down and walked me thru the questions I should ask and told me that I could still have a nautral induction. My induction took forever and Karry was there the the whole time. She was with me from 9am one day to 5am the next morning. Numerous times we had to make decisions about the next step in the induction process and what interventions we were going to have. She was incredibly knowledgable and I believe that every decision we made that day was the right one because we had all the information, look at pros and cons, etc. My husband and I were so grateful to have her there. I needed Pitocin and was still able to give birth without an epidural. An amazing feat! I don't think I could have done it without Karry talking me though the whole thing. Her voice, touch and her prescence are very soothing. Since my labor was so long it was nice to have her there to give my husband a break as well. We will definitely be haivng her as our Doula for our next pregnancy! She was AWESOME!
Karry was my doula for the birth of my daughter in August. I interviewed a few people and felt really at home and comfortable with Karry. I had already had an unmedicated birth with the birth of my son, and wanted to do it again. My labor was VERY hard. It started at 10:30 at night and I didn't sleep all night as I labored through very very hard contractions with little energy. Karry was by my side every step of the way, anticipating my needs and helping my husband to help me. The last thirty mintues or so of my labor were really really hard for me. I was feeling really hopeless, sad, exhausted, just ready to give up as my baby was not in any hurry (my 2nd baby flew out, so don't count on a fast labor if you have already had one!). I got through it because of Karry. Serioulsy. She was such a cheerleader (without being rah rah, which would have annoyed me) and just was a great partner along with my husband. She is also very funny and an amazing masseuse, which I was hoping would come in handy during labor and it certainly did. Two big thumbs up!
Karry was my doula for the birth of my daughter on Sept. 8 at UIC in Chicago. If she had not been with me, I think I'd be in therapy right now. I'd planned on a natural, unmedicated VBAC. We called Karry at 1:45 am when my water broke, thinking it would be a while before we'd need her but my contractions quickly started coming one on top of the other and very strong. Karry met us at the hospital somewhere around 4 am and did not leave until 11 pm that night. She was my rock, helping me through contractions as they came crashing in one on top of the other, helping me understand what was happening, what the concerns were and confirming that the hospital team wasn't kidding when they said my labor was not normal. She helped buy me time to think, helped me process my thoughts into coherent questions for the medical team. She never spoke for me or decided for me, but helped me advocate for myself. She was so much 100% there for me that my husband felt comfortable taking a nap and taking 1 hour for lunch. She, on the other hand, refused to leave my side. I'm not even sure she took more than a bathroom break the whole time. I just can't express my gratitude well enough. She made sure I wasn't alone, physically or emotionally. In one of the hardest and scariest moments of my life, she was there holding my hand, literally. My daughter was born by C-section at 8:30 pm and I wish Karry would have been allowed into the OR. She even hung out during the 2-hour surgery and met my husband in recovery with our daughter. From the first moment I met Karry, I felt like I'd known her forever. As if maybe we'd been grade-school friends or neighbors growing up. She is increadibly warm, giving, present, capable, caring and funny as hell. No BS or pretentions about her. I'm really blessed that she was my doula. If I were ever to attempt another labor, which is not on the forecast, she would be the one person I'd absolutely have to have by my side.
Karry Anderson was our Doula for the April 29th birth of our second son Adam. I was hesitant at first because I felt she was there to replace me. Boy am I glad i decided to partner with her. She didn't replace me, she added knowledge and positive reinforecment. My wife wanted to deliver naturally and Adam was coming out sunny side up. She helped calm my wife while helping in every way possible. Lets focus on the man's side of things...When I needed to go to the bathroom (becuase I was nervous), she was there to fill in for my responsibilities....when my wife needed someone (besides me) to push her, Karry was there. After the birth, while I was spending time with my newborn son, Karry was there to help my wife through the "post delivery" process.
I 100% now understand the roll of a Doula and understand she was a valuable addition to our birth. I would suggest to anyone I know to use Karry Anderson as a Doula!
I intereviewed several doulas before meeting Karry, & I just knew that she was a great fit for us. Karry was an amazing part of our birth experience! She is truly a gem & made our birth experience so special. She brings a wealth of knowledge & skills, as well as such a positive energy. I learned so much from her, & she is truly an inspiration.
