Christian was our doula for my daughter and two years later my son’s birth. I am not a knowledgeable person when it comes to childbirth and delivery. That’s why for me it was so important to have Christian there, she’s both a coach and a star player. Working with Christian it quickly becomes apparent she is a specialist when it comes to childbirth and birthing techniques. In many instances she knew what my wife wanted and needed before my wife did. Christian seemed to have an endless supply of techniques, tips and tricks to help make my wife’s natural labors easier to tolerate. Even when my wife was exhausted Christian was able to work towards achieving our birth plan. My wife and I consider ourselves blessed to have had Christian with us during the births of our children.
We used Christian as our doula when we had our fist child and I can’t recommend her services enough! We did a natural home birth, and with her help and guidance we had a dream delivery. She worked seamlessly with our midwives and allowed us the opportunity to deliver how we wanted.
Her classes leading up to the birth were informative and engaging. I was not very well read on home births, but after realizing it was what my partner wanted to do, I wanted to support her decision in whatever way I could. Christian gave me tons of very useful information and even recommended some amazing opportunities to meet midwives, doulas, and doctors who were happy to answer questions and share their wealth of knowledge as well. Her classes were very helpful, and her coping techniques for what to do and expect when giving birth proved to be invaluable.
Then…labor! I cant stress enough how important she was to our birthing experience, and quite frankly cant imagine how we would’ve done it without her. Our midwives were fantastic as well, but Christian took the lead and was very hands on while respecting whatever needs we had as they changed throughout labor. She anticipated what we wanted, and what we didn’t want, and created a space for us to have the birth that we intended. She gave us enough info in advance to be as prepared as we could, but was there to coach us as things began to get more intense. You can only be so ready for something like this, and with her by our side we knew that everything was going to be OK.
We recommend Christian to the highest degree. We will be using her if or when we have anther one!
It is difficult to put into words the immense gratitude I have for Christian and her doula services. When I was in labor I suggested to my partner that we name our first born after her. I had all the confidence in the world about birthing my daughter and wondered if I really needed a doula. I wanted the companionship at the beginning of my pregnancy, but as the actual birth approached I felt fearless. All of my confidence went out the window went I went into labor. It’s hard. I felt exhausted and defeated and scared. Christian held me and encouraged me and coached me and lifted me up and reminded me that I was capable and my body knew what to do. Before she arrived I wasn’t sure I wanted anybody near me. One of the most significant parts about the experience was Christian working with my partner to show him how to help me through my contractions. THANK GOODNESS because I cannot imagine a birth experience that did not involve my partner helping and loving me through it. Had I not had Christian as a doula, I do not believe I would have had the courage to trust my body and follow through with my birth plan. I feel overjoyed to have been able to experience birth in the way that it is meant to be experienced. Christian gave me the physical and emotional support I needed which empowered me to have the beautiful birth I had dreamt of and a story I am proud to share. I believe all women should be able to experience birth this way. Hire Christian. You deserve it!!!!
Christian was everything I could have asked for and more in a double. She was there for me every step of the way. During labor, she was patient and explained any medical interventions that were offered to me and empowered me to make decisions. When I was lost in the pain of contractions, she talked with me encouraging me to breath helping me focus to get through contractions. She did a great job talking with my husband about everything that was going on, and what to expect while I was in labor. Christian taught my husband how to but counter pressure on my back and they took turns while I was in transition. That really helped me get through it. I just can't praise Christian enough. I was in labor for what felt like forever, and she was there for me every step of the way. While I was recovering, Christian was there to answer all my questions on postpartum healing and breastfeeding. My husband and I couldn't have done it without her. Christian is so passionate about what she does and it really show's. We had an all around great experience, and hope to have Christian with us at our next birth.
Love, love, love Christian and Di Nixi Doula!! This was our first time using a doula (but our 3rd birth), and we couldn't have been happier with our decision to spend the money on this most important asset. It was delightful and comforting to have her to text/call and run things by prior to labor. (She talked me down from a few cliffs in the few weeks leading up to labor...) Christian is very knowledgeable about all things birth-related and was able to answer all of our questions; she even went above and beyond and would send additional research-based articles and information that supported/explained decisions we were attempting to make, which we were able to add to our arsenal going into the hospital setting.
During labor, Christian was there for whatever we needed (within the realms of her contract, of course...haha!), and she couldn't have been more supportive of our decisions as labor progressed. She added a calming voice and patient support as we navigated our options, and she made many various helpful suggestions on position, environment, and medical decisions. My husband was able to focus solely on me and the labor (as opposed to other extraneous details, etc.) with Christian there, and it was comforting to know we had a "birth expert" at our disposal to give us advice and encourage our decisions with sound, research-based data.
Although our birth did not end up going the way we had hoped, Christian was continually supportive and just a fantastic cheerleader for us from start to finish! She even brought us beautiful, cheery hand-picked flowers on her postpartum visit, and is still available to us even now after the birth, should we have any questions or postpartum issues.
We highly recommend this sweet doula!! Her heart is absolutely in the right place!! :)
PS: Try her RRL tea! It's a-mazing!!!!!
Christian will always have a special place in my family's heart. For the first few months of my pregancy, I laughed at the idea of having a natural birth. However, meeting with Christian, hearing her birth story, and becoming informed made me realize that I wanted to go unmedicated. I started telling my friends and family that I didn't want to get an epidural or any medication. For the most part I got discouragment, laughs, and people saying, 'why would you do that?'. When I told Christian these things, she opened my mind to affirmations. If I wanted to, I could absolutely do this. I was designed to do this. She kept educating me and provided others birth stories. While she would support me no matter what I choose, she gave me the information and confidence to make a birth plan that fit me and what I wanted, regardless of what other people said I should do. I was able to call her anytime about any questions or feelings. By the time I was full-term, my fear was replaced with excitment for my birth experience and getting to meet my LO. Thanks to my doula, I knew what might possibly go wrong during my birth and how I wanted to handle it should a hiccup arise. My birth plan was thorough. Christian was available to me thoughout my labor and stayed with me in the hospital until my son was born. Her calm, yet strong demeanor helped me remain positive and assertive during labor. She helped my husband know how to support me. She provided emotional strength to both me and my husband. Whether she was holding a straw to my lips, pressing a heating pack to my lower back, or pushing my hips together to ease each contraction, Christian remained by my side. She educated the nurses on my birth plan and gave me the courage to speak up when things started to veer from it. I highly recommend Christian as a doula. No matter if you are going unmedicated or not, she can give you peace and confidence in your birthing experience.
A mutual friend connected Christian and I, and I am beyond grateful. Though we only had two weeks getting to know each other, I felt comfortable with her. Christian was on top of any and all information she thought would be helpful and beneficial for my pregnancy and labor. As well as any to answer questions we had. The night of our labor and birth she was amazing. I wanted our 3yr old there and he wanted to be there as well. So my plan was to let him and my husband sleep as long as I could. Christian shown up shortly after my contractions started to intensify to the point of self-doubt. (Which allowed them to sleep longer.) She encouraged me and reminded me of my goal and the beautiful outcome. We walked for awhile before I was ready to sit back down. Through the walking and sitting, the different massages she used were so helpful and relieved pain. Her calming voice not only helped me, but received comments from the doctor and nurses as well. Soon we were in active labor. Christian was continously counter commenting my spoken doubts with positive affirmations. It was great to hear. In-between contractions while my mind was calm, it helped me to look at my son and husband and think of the beautiful sister I was bringing into the world for us. She was great to remind me of low moans/grunts to help push from the higher ones being made, and it definitely made a huge physical difference. Within minutes of pushing my baby was here. This was my first time having a doula and I will definitely do it again. I could only imagine the mental stability that would come from the whole pregnancy based off what I received from 2 weeks! Christian was great and so beneficial not only to me, but my husband, and the nurse that delivered me.
