I’ve worked with Kathy over the past four years as my doula for two of my children. During our first meeting with Kathy we felt an immediate connection and comfort with her.  Kathy is very knowledgeable in how to prepare for birth, positions that progress labor along as well as how to handle challenges that arise during labor.  Kathy is a great advocate for what my husband and I wanted for our labor and delivery and had a way with words that she could always bring us confidence and comfort in the moments we needed.

During the last months of my third pregnancy Kathy taught my husband and I the Three Sisters of Balance stretches, which I believe assisted in my baby moving down into position at the end of my pregnancy.  For the first time, my body went into labor on its own and ended with a natural, healthy birth. This was quite a gift as my first two pregnancies I was induced and in a position of TOLAC for my last two deliveries.  Both of my births that I had a doula present ended in a natural vaginal birth which was one of our dreams.

At the end of my third pregnancy COVID-19 hit our country.  Our hospital only allowed one support person, my husband.  Despite this change, the support I received from Kathy continued during this stressful time for our family.  Knowing this was the way forward we all agreed to a ‘remote doula’ option via video chat.  Having this plan brought my husband and I relief that we could still count on Kathy’s expertise and calmness to be present during labor if we needed it. Kathy helped me find my peace leading up to labor with so many uncertainties that COVID-19 brought. She was flexible and while not able to be present at this birth, remained on-call and ready to be our doula virtually during my labor and delivery.  Having Kathy as part of my care team has been beneficial and helped my natural labor and birth dreams come true.

Kathy is a very knowledgeable, kind and supportive person. She makes an excellent doula with advocacy for mamas and their birth experience as well as being able to provide resources and assistance to prepare for the best birth possible. She is an incredible resource!

Kathy was with me for two of my births. She was very calm, knowledgeable, and a reassuring presence. Kathy was actually with me when my daughter was born in the backseat of our car on the way to the hospital. While my husband and I were feeling frantic about having a baby in the car, Kathy remained very calm. She knew exactly what to do and was able to talk me through some breathing techniques that helped me wait to push until the paramedics got there, even though my body was ready to push the baby out all on its own. When my son was born it was so great to have Kathy around. My contractions were so slow and when I started to feel frustrated about how long the whole process was taking, Kathy was quick to encourage me and to remind me that my body knew what it was doing! I also had some difficulty with back and leg pain during that labor and Kathy had lots of different ideas of things to try to relieve the pain. She is also fun to hang out with during the many long hours between the first contraction and final push.

My husband and I have been blessed with Kathy as our doula three times and can't wait to work with her again during our upcoming fourth birth!  Kathy has been a true blessing to our family; her quiet but confident  personality has helped my husband and I feel calm and very supported during our labors and deliveries.  Her peaceful presence has given me the ability to feel strong and in control during labor and delivery.  Likewise, my husband has felt very supported by Kathy.  She has given him the encouragement to support me in ways he may not have been aware of on his own.  We highly recommend Kathy to every pregnant mama that we know!
