We interviewed several doulas and decided that Christine at Femme in Nest was the best fit for our needs and for my personality. After our initial meeting, not only were we positive we had made the right choice in choosing Christine, we were positive that seeking doula support was the right choice for us. Christine provided more information and better information in two prenatal visits than the entire AHS Birth and Babies course. She made me feel confident and incredibly well supported in my birthing choices and made me feel confident that I'd be able to breastfeed.
We had a very fast labour (4 hours between my waters being artificially ruptured as an induction attempt at 2cm and pushing), and warp speed pushing (3minutes), Christine was instrumental in keeping me focused, especially getting me through those last few contractions. She was also integral in helping me push correctly which is likely why I was able to push her out so quickly with minimal tearing despite my baby being almost 10lbs. My labour and birth experience, while being nothing as planned or expected, was still a very good experience due to the support provided by Christine and my midwives.
Her postpartum support was incredibly helpful in helping me establish my milk supply. She is likely key as to why I've been, not only successful, but succesful with relatively minimal effort despite a family history of lack of success with breastfeeeding. In addition, she provided a thorough walkthrough and demonstration of babywearing including product recommendation.
Christine is a phenomenal doula, she is very knowledgeable about pregnancy, labour, birth, and post partum. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking additional support to ensure that they are well prepared for labour and birth regardless of how it may turn out.

My husband and I were first time parents and we really wanted to have a calm and positive birth experience. We met with Christine and knew immediately she was the perfect doula to guide us through this journey of a lifetime! There are no stupid questions with Christine! When I didn't know if I was in active labour or not, Christine was there! When I was struggling with breastfeeding that first night home from the hospital and me, my husband and son were all crying at midnight, Christine was there! When I couldn't figure out how to diaper my son so he wouldn't leak, Christine was there! When I couldn't get my baby to stop crying, Christine knew just how to fix that too! Christine was there from start to finish!
I was in labour for 29 hours and Christine not only held my hand, but rubbed my back, fed me ice chips, poured hot water over me in the tub FOR HOURS...she even wiped my butt when I couldn't! Christine never left my side! Even when my son was in the wrong position and I was afraid to push, Christine assured me that I could do it and motivated me the entire time. She was a unwavering rockstar!
We absolutely got the calm and positive birth experience we wanted, and we really have Christine to thank for it. Christine's calm and supportive energy and knowledge was EXACTLY what both me and my husband needed during labour. Going through this experience with Christine, I will 100% be calling her for baby #2!
Thank you doesn't cut it, Christine! You're amazing!

We were thrilled to have Christine as our birth and postpartum doula. This was my first pregnancy and birth, and Christine’s prenatal support was very comprehensive and nicely complimented the birth class we chose. Christine was always happy to provide resources on whatever topic we were interested in learning about, helped us work through the pros and cons of the many decisions we needed to make along the way, and was always supportive of our choices. When my labour progressed very quickly and resulted in an unexpected home birth, Christine was the calm and reassuring presence we needed and we could not imagine what would have happened if she was not there to help guide us before our midwife arrived. Postpartum, Christine supported us through the first month of parenthood as we navigated breastfeeding, postpartum recovery and infant sleep among other things. Christine is a wonderful listening ear, resource and makes a delicious egg sandwich ;). If we are lucky enough to have another child, Christine will be one of our first calls to line up doula support once again.

From the moment we met with Christine over coffee it felt very comfortable and familiar. Two very good and important qualities for someone who will in relatively short time go from total stranger to attending your birth! I didn't even really know for certain that I wanted/needed a doula, but I can say now in hindsight, it was a very smart decision. Having Christine at both of our births gave me a level of comfort and confidence that I'm sure would not have been possible without her. Having a person who is there and 100% devoted to you (and sometimes your partner!) from the beginning contractions right until your baby arrives is invaluable. There may be one or many other medical professionals involved in your birth, but the truth is no one is looking out for you through calm eyes like your Doula. My husband and I both greatly benefited from Christine's calm energy, her encouragement and coaching and at the right moment knowing when you need a chance of scenary. There are so many unknowns heading in a birth, and things may not go as planned, but I felt some level of comfort knowing that the things I could control I did, and having a Doula by our side was a big one.
Christine works well in a hospital setting (birth #1) and at the Birth Centre (birth #2). Both my doctors and nurses, and then midwife were complimentary of Christine's style of support and were happy to have her work alongside them. Plus as an added bonus she will literally hand feed you perfectly sized peanut butter toast while you snuggle and nurse your new baby!
