I'm so thankful Katie was part of our birth team!! From our first meeting mid-pregnancy, she made sure to check in and talk over our preferences, any concerns we had, and general labor/birth/baby things as well. When I went into labor, my husband and I arrived at our birth center shortly before Katie and the moment she walked in the room both of us felt that extra boost of support and encouragement (right on time as I was headed into transition!). She demonstrated some massage techniques for my husband and never once made him feel left out of his support role--instead he had the extra backup he needed to continue supporting me through the birth. Katie had a fantastic way of sensing the moments I needed the most encouragement, and quietly helped me work through each contraction while helping me focus and keep calm. In hindsight, it's hard to imagine making it through our baby girl's birth without Katie as our doula! We highly recommend this awesome lady and her work!

I met Katie just 6 or 8 weeks before giving birth. She was helping out at the pregnancy center where I was attending birthing and baby classes. I had heard and read about receiving help from a doula during birth, but never really thought anything of it. But, as the time was getting nearer, and I was getting more anxious about labor, I decided to give this doula-thing it try - one of the best decisions I ever made.

The thing I remember most about Katie was how calm and supportive she was throughtout it all. From the moment my contractions started, she was there supporting me through reassuring texts and calls. She was the best cheerleader ever. Once my husband and I made it the hospital (we elected to be induced, so we had a scheduled time to be at the hospital), Katie was there just a few minutes behind us. She was there for the whole 22 or 23 hours of labor and delivery. My husband and I really leaned on Katie to kindly guide us through the craziness of labor. She rarely left our side, and whatever we needed, she was there for us. She helped keep the stress level from becoming too intense and unbearable, and I honestly cannot imagine going through labor without her. She was essential to making my whole labor and delivery process special and a moment to be proud of!

Not only did Katie help during the actual birthing process, she helped bring the excitement back into my pregnancy. Right when I got pregnancy, my brother became extremely ill, too. Every ounce of my focus turned to my brother's health and recovery, and I spent very little time on preparing for a new baby; I didn't even know where to begin. When i met Katie, she just began explaining the expectations of birth, breastfeeding and everything. It was great. She was so resourceful! I met with her once a week until I gave birth, and I really enjoyed the moments to just talk baby stuff with her. Katie as my doula really gave me some special moments to always treasure from my pregnancy. :)
