I was very skeptical at first hiring another doula after my first one fell asleep on the job. Although my first home birth was epic, my first doula was not and the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. My husband encouraged me to hire a doula, "for him". I discovered Becka and Lisley after a referral through my midwives. I hoped for another home birth, and needed doulas I could trust and depend on.
When Eventide first stopped by my home for a "meet and greet"— equipped with knowledge, warmth, friendliness, trustworthiness and a charming chemistry as a team— I knew they would be perfect!
Becka and their mentee attended my birth. Although the birth itself was equally as epic— the experience with Eventide Doulas was completely different and surpassed my expectations. Instead of feeling completely alone, I felt deeply supported and nurtured.
There was no hesitation to come when I felt labour increase in intensity. Eventide softly encouraged me between contractions, laughed with me when it was appropriate, held my hand when the pain felt insourmountable, and used different pain modalities (ex: hip pressing, the Rebozo, and offered different positions to speed up labour and shift the pain). Becka also captured invaluable and priceless photos of our little boy entering into the world.
They were very available for after care. Eventide stopped by with hand-made date balls and debrief my birth. Thank you so much Eventide for re-instilling my faith in the beautiful and invaluable work doulas can do! If I have another child (probably not), I would work with them again in a heart beat, and of course, recommend Eventide to any mamas-to-be.
The ladies of Eventide were an amazing and integral part of our birth team. We met Lisley during a prenatal visit and she explained to us the role of the doula and answered all sorts of questions we had. Becka was with us for 12 hours of labour and the birth, and I was so grateful to have her there. During labour she provided integral support for both me and my husband. She stepped in when needed and hung back when not. Her words of encouragement during contractions, when I stretched and made deep sounds, helped me know I was on the right track and would make it through. She never pushed me to do anything I didn’t want to and was 100% an advocate for me. I can’t thank Eventide enough for their help and positive energy through this experience.
My husband and I were connected to Lisley and Becca through South Community Birth Program and we are so glad we had signed up for their support. Lisley was our main gal, but we were also provided assurance that Becca would fill in if needed. Before birth, Lisley was very responsive to all my questions and provided invaluable resources to help me prepare for birth (articles, podcasts, videos, etc.). On the day of, Becca filled in during the day and Lisley came in for the night shift. Labour lasted roughly 26 hours and I had full on support from these two amazing ladies. My birth experience was equally the most painful and terrifying as it was beautiful and rewarding. Through their words, touch, and support, they gave me the courage to persevere and trust my body. In the end, we delivered a happy and healthy baby girl with minimal intervention and I was able to recover relatively quickly. Thank you so much!

Lisley Siqueira was a fantastic Doula. She was incredibily welcoming and professional. During our meet and great she took the time to get to know us and find out what we wanted in a Doula. She shared her stories with us and was very thorough, giving us a full picture not only of how she would support us (tecniques available to relieve pain, etc.), but also what we could/might expect of the labour process itself. Overall she was extremely knowledgable and confident while remaining cool and calm throughout. Communication wise, Lisley was great. She responded quickly to emails and text messages and shared links to videos and other literature about labour and post partum recovery. During my long 48 hour labour which unfortunately involved several complications Lisley was always by our side. She came to our home at 1am and stayed with us until the very end when our baby boy was born. After labour Lisley continued to check in without being the slightest bit pushy and with our final meeting she helped us debrief and answered any remaining questions about the past, present or future. We would highly recocmmend Lisley. ---Doug and Elizabeth
Becka and Lisley were so caring and warm in helping me before, during, and after my son's birth. Becka really helped me breath and relax (as much as possible!) through my non-epidural natural birth; it was an amazing experience! I felt very comfortable that she was there to support me and my husband, and I appreciated the visit about a week after my son was born.
My husband (Abdiel) and I had the gift of having Lisley and Becka as our doulas. They were always available to serve us kindly. We felt accompanied by them, and it made a huge difference for my husband. During birth, Lisley was with us the whole time. She helped Abdiel in what he could do to help during labor, and she was actively helping us both. We loved how they led us to information we did not know was available and their guidance in the process withouth impositions, but with many helpful suggestions. Having a doula definitely made my birthing experience different, because I felt someone with experience was walking the process with us.
In my case, my water broke before labor started (it started 3 hours later), but I stayed home for almost 30 hours, which helped make the 1st stage of labor more relaxed. Having the support and visits of Lisley during this first stage made everything less scary and actually enjoyable, as a preparation to receive our baby girl. Lisley stayed with us until after our baby was born and fed. Her postpartum visits were of great encouragement, and we loved her warmth and sensitivity.
I would recommend everyone to have Lisley and Becka as doulas. It makes a huge difference! Thank you.
