Liza helped me so much for my first birth.  Where do I start... initially I was just “scared” of the entire birthing process and wanted to get an epidural immediately just to “survive.” I found Liza pretty late— almost 8 months into my pregnancy after reading about the effectiveness of doulas in randomized double blind trials.  After being educated by Liza about the birthing process, I felt empowered and curious enough to go into the birthing process with some confidence.  Although she supported any decision I wanted to make, including a  medically unnecessary C-section, I changed my mind, and was open to trying vaginal birth without an epidural! In the end I decided to get one, but it was a choice and the outcome was extremely positive.

I believe it is imperative to prepare for birth both physically but more importantly, mentally.  Liza was the bedrock once the fireworks started flying.  Relying on your husband/partner doesn’t make sense since they are so close to you— they will be equally emotional.  Liza had a lot of techniques & tools up her sleeve that she brought out during the birthing process... I was able to birth for 18 hours before I had asked for an epidural.  I found out later I was at 10cm! She has a great sense of humor, very direct (important for dealing with hospital staff), and very sincere with her care for you and the baby.  You are her #1! Couldn’t have done it without her.  Even if you understandably want a medicated birth get a doula.  Thank you Liza!! ??

I wasn't sure about getting a doula but Liza was recommended to me by my friend Sara and I'm glad I went for it!  Liza was a great help especially on the day that I went to labor.  I wasn't ready and was scared of giving birth but having her there calmed me and gave me the confidence that I needed to push my baby.  I was also glad I had her after my birth as I needed her experience to guide me through the first few weeks.  Thank you again Liza!

Liza helped me have an incredible birth experience! She has a wealth of knowledge from her work as a doula and her own experience as a mother. She gave me the tools, resources, and advice to labor with comfort, confidence, and make informed decisions when the need arose. During labor, I was so much more confidant and at ease having Liza there with me as she helped guide me through the pain with techniques that both made me more comfortable and moved the labor along. She also knew how to channel my husband's anxiety into productive tasks! After I gave birth, Liza made sure I was given the "miracle hour" time with my baby and helped me establish breastfeeding right away. And now, even weeks post birth, Liza continues to be a friend and has given me great tips and tricks for things when I needed help. I was so much more prepared for giving birth and being a mother by hiring Liza! She is amazing!!

The birth of our first child did not go according  plan. I wanted a natural birth at the birthing center but I became very scared as labor progressed. I didn't have the kind of support I needed or the tools necessary to keep in control as much as possible. I wanted a different experience for my second birth. From my first meeting with Liza I knew she was the kind of doula I needed. She listened with great interest to my past experience and my hopes and expectations for this birth. She didn't just want to get to know me, she wanted me to know her too so that we could be partners in this experience. She was excited to be part of my team and I could feel her desire to help me achieve the birth I wanted.

In labor Liza remained strong and helpful at all times. She was so in tune with my process and she offered suggestions when she felt I needed them and let me disappear into my own space when that was what I needed to do. When I was in transition she reminded me numerous times to keep on top of the pressure, and that enabled me to not go off the rails.

Liza makes herself so available to her clients. She always made time to listen to my concerns and give advice when needed. In fact, I was often astonished at how knowledgeable she is and how much information she keeps at her fingertips, whether it be essential oils for heartburn or different types of jaundice or colic relief methods. She's an incredible resource.

Liza truly allowed me to birth my own way. She gave me the confidence and guidance to make birth wishes that worked for me and not someone else. She was very high touch and always in contact - she made herself very available to us at all times. I went into this thinking she would be most useful come time for labor and delivery, but she was just as much a resource pre and post natal. She's good at providing resources, including fun things like classes and photography recommendations. She's obviously very passionate about her job and it's clear when you work with her. I would recommend Liza to anyone looking for a knowledgable and trustworthy doula who also has a great sense of fun and humor.

Major major props to our Doula from Birth Your Own Way, Liza Maltz. You helped us have the labor and birthing experience I wanted and so much more. I never imagined I would be able to laugh my way though an unmedicated labor. Your wisdom and strength guided us every step of the way. Shawn and I are forever grateful ??

Liza was our postpartum doula after our baby girl was born in May of this year. She was an incredible help, very knowledgeable, proactively helping us with suggestions for making life as a new parent less overwhelming and she was (and still is) always available to answer my many questions (and is always quick with getting back). She has given me the confidence that I, as a new mom, am doing a great job, and, most importantly, she was fun to have around! Plus, she makes amazing pictures! Liza is a great doula, helps with whatever your needs are as a new parent and goes above and beyond. She has become a friend to us! We strongly recommend her for any new parent.

I whole heartily feel that I could not have achieved my birth goal of an unmedicated, no interventions, gentle homebirth without Sarah and Liza by my side. As the night went on and I progressed, my contractions became increasingly intense. I drifted further into my own world where time, space, and conversations turned more abstract, but the moment I needed to be grounded or calmed Sarah and/or Liza was there to breathe along with me, or give me the exact words I needed to hear that would get me through that wave. They helped get me into the right position or place in our apartment that was ideal to ease my baby down. I just feel blessed to have had them during that incredible journey, and I am hugely indebted for the love and encouragement they gave not only me but my husband as well. It was a team effort, and if you are able to book either or both Sarah and Liza consider yourself incredibly lucky.

My wife and I were referred to Liza by our midwife, and we could not be more happy with the tremendous help and support she has provided us on labor day, as well as during her post-partum visits now that our baby is here.

Labor day was a little chaotic for us because my wife first stated experiencing contractions at 7:48am, and while they were stronger than all other contratctions she had experienced, they were irregularly spaced and had no particular pattern. After our midwife connected us with Liza (the introduction was literally made while my wife was in the first stage of labor), we corresponded regularly over text throughout the morning and we didn't think anything was going to happen, but all of a sudden my wife exhibited bloody show & went into active labor at around 9:30 - 10:30am, and Liza dropped everything and came over to our home. She was EXTREMELY attentive an helped my wife deal with the labor contractions by guiding her through various labor positions, using a Rebozo in various ways, assisting her with birth ball positions, and finally moving her into the shower.

I firmly beleive that her clear and on-point care & gentle instructions were what got us through that very challenging experience. She came with us to the hospital and worked in tandem with our midwife to give us what is, in my opinion, the best natural delivery we could have possibly wanted, and continued to care for us long after the delivery was over and we are continuing to utilize her post-partum support services. Plus, if Liza wasn't there, my wife would have punched me in the face for sure. Multiple times. Liza kept us calm.

For my wife, Liza provides amazing post-partum support and assitance, and for me she answers my one hundred and one questions an gives me lots of education. Since this is our fist baby, I need as much education as I can get, and Liza is a great teacher to us.

My wife and I highly recommend Liza Maltz

Liza was a rock during my first labor! I experienced a little bit of everything with my labor and I was so relieved to have Liza by my side to help talk me through what was happening and what was coming ahead. Liza has a calming demeanor with a take charge attitude when needed. She was great at helping me position the baby and also to try and relax as I waited for the baby since my contractions slowed down for quite a long time. I enjoyed having her there to talk to as a friend as well as having her expertise. She is fun to talk to and kept me laughing and happy throughout the process. In the end, my labor was taken to cesarian section due to the baby's heart rate dropping. Liza was so helpful to me and my husband as we went through that traumatic change that we were not expecting. She was able to help the baby latch in the operating recovery room and also took beautiful photos of the very first moments of my daughter's life. Liza was great in the days following with tips for nursing, expertise when answering the millions of questions I had, etc. I highly recommend Liza's doula services, she is wonderful.

When I found out I was pregnant I called Liza right away. She knows what she is doing. I've had the best experience ever with Liza, she is very patient, nice and she knows a lot, like a baby nurse But better. I can text her with a question about anything and she always offers an answer. Calms me when I feel frazzled, and guides me so I can learn myself . In always feel more confident after a visit or all with Liza! Liza helped me with missing I. The early days and my millions of questions while pregnant She also helped with baby wearing baby led weaning tummy time and Helped me find fun classes to take my daughter too! we still text all the time, and if I were to get pregnant again she would again be the first call! What would I do without my Liza!?

Thank you Liza from the bottom of my heart!!

my first experience with Liza in the world of babies was when I was pregnant with my son Rome 5 years ago. She not only helped me prepare for his birth but she went to all my doctor appointments with me and knew EVERY question to ask. Sh asked questions I didn't know I had. She helped me make a registry.. something I would never have been able to do, help me set up a nursery, and rubbed my lower back in a position that is less than attractive. A-Z this girl has been put on earth to work with mothers and babies. She is the womb guru! She did the same with my second baby, a girl, and a whole different kind of pregnancy. She handled everything from what I was eating to what I needed to bring her home. But it was my third child, another boy, bodhi, that she really shined. this time she handled everything to the music in the delivery room, to wiping my forehead and she even cut the cord. An honor that will never be forgotten. She has been mentor, mother, father, doctor and friend for all three of my pregnancies. She is my "go to" for all things baby! I can call her at 3am with a question and she no doubt within seconds has not only the answer, but the right answer! The only downfall to Liza is that there is only ONE!!! I'm lucky enough to have had her help then and now! You are all that is gold in the world Liza!!!! Thank you for everything!!!! (Even naming 2 of three of my kids:)

During and after the birth of my second child, whenever I had a pregnancy or baby question, Liza was my go-to. She knows all of the most natural solutions and remedies for babies (and mamas, and kids!). Liza's commitment to the health and wellness of babies is unsurpassed. She is known to check in days/weeks after a sickness or other situation (i.e. Baby constipation, breastfeeding related soreness) with alternative solutions and advice.

If I were to get pregnant again, I would jump at the chance to have Liza as my doula. I put total faith and comfort in her and know that any time I share something with her she has my best interest at heart. Liza's confidence and total admiration for the birth process and the stages newborns go through is awesome and her desire to make sure mothers are experiencing their best birth/postpartum reality is palpable.

I enthusiastically recommend Liza as a birth and postpartum doula without hesitation or reservation.

When I close my eyes and think back to my pregnancy from day one, no one else comes to mind but Liza Jane. I was blessed to have Liza provide me with emotional support, absolutely incredible information NO ONE else had and the knowledge to ensure a successful birth of my daughter Amelia. During the newborn days, I relied on LIza, and Liza alone for her incredible (and well researched) recommendations - from the basics to complex - always assuring me and building my confidence as a new mom. Liza isn't "Just" a doula -- the world of motherhood is her calling and I've never met anyone more perfect for the role. She was always there for me, and continues to be even though my daughter is now 6. My entire experience and success at becoming to mom - I ascribe to Liza's connection and care for me. She's truly a TREASURE that any newly pregnant woman would be lucky to discover. I have always called her the motherhood sherpa....don't do this journey without her! Her non-judgemental support no matter what approach is rare and I've learned so much from her it would be hard to detail all the points along the road she's literally given me critical support and information literally no one else had. I truly cannot recommend LIza strongly enough.

What would I do without Liza????

I am a first time mom, and just the thought of Liza set my mind at ease. She helped me register. Her knowledge of baby items and things I would need was so on point.  She explained why I needed certain things and why I didn't need other things. She also has impecable taste, so my nursery is beautiful....thanks Liza!  Throughout my pregnancy, she knew everything I was going thru, I mean I would start to explain something and she just finished the sentence and told me what it was and how I may feel better.  It was surreal!! After I had my daughter, she was my go to person, 24/7.  She was the one to help with proper latching and recognized I needed her lingua frenum cut. I would have never known that without her!!  She also helped me thru a clogged duct, which again I had no clue. She knew exactly what to do and it worked!! She has helped me with a schedule, which has saved my life. Her knowledge is just endless and I am so serious when I say, I would be totally lost without her. I have just gone back to work and I am having a hard time. Once again, Liza to the rescue, she has sent me people I may talk to about what I am going thru and she has been there for me as well...she has ALWAYS been there. I can't say enough about Liza, she was born to be a doula. I just want her to write a book!!

Liza, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, I could never be the mom I am today if it weren't for your knowledge, love and endless patience. You Rock!!
