Fee Details

Rushes Childbirth and Doula Service is owned and run by Dana Oakes-Sand, and is comprised of Dana, Jessica Brown, and myself. $1000.00 is our standard fee - however we offer many add-on services and other packages as well. All potential clients get a one hour initial phone or in-person consult free to see if we are a good fit. Additional pre-contract consults will be billed hourly. We are happy to do birth plan consults for non-clients as well billed hourly - call for details. We do take reduced cost/payment plan clients as often as we can. We offer a variety of payment plans. We believe all women should have a doula and we try to accommodate everyone that we can, regardless of finances. We do not however take a free client - we believe everyone should get paid for their work - but we understand financial issues and will work with you. We are a modern group practice, with traditional wisdom to share.

I had a great experience with Harmony. I found her to be very easy to talk to and connect with, which wasn't true of all the doulas I interviewed. That's obviously an important quality when you're thinking about hiring a stranger to be with you during one of the most intimate experiences of your life. I personally knew from the outset that I was likely to choose an epidural and to be more tolerant of medical intervention than the typcial doula client, so it was very important for me to find someone who was respectful of my choices. Harmony was. Every doula will tell you that they are, but you still feel judged if you make the "wrong" choice in their eyes. Harmony did not make me feel that way. I liked the all inclusive nature of this doula practice. From the moment I hired Harmony, I felt that she was going to be there for me as much as I needed leading up to and through the birth. Thanks, Harmony.

I had the pleasure of having Harmony as my doula for the birth of second daughter. I struggled with having to have a repeat c-section and Harmony was there to help me make my peace with the decision and be ok with it. From our initial consult to our last official postpartum visit, Harmony was reassuring and supportive. She met us at the hospital before the birth and came to the recovery room as soon as she was allowed. She helped me nurse my daughter right away and stayed with us for a few hours afterwards. She even captured some very sweet first moments for us. Knowing that I had Harmony and all her knowledge during this whole process made me feel at ease. My daughter is now 2 months and I can still count on Harmony to give me advice when I need it. She is a wonderful doula with a very calming and reassuring personality and we are so grateful she was part of our journey.

Harmony was our doula this past summer at the birth of our first child. She was incredibly informative during our prenatal visits, and always available for support before my labor began. I was 11 days past my due date and scheduled to be induced (which was not on my birth plan) and Harmony was able to talk to me about my options and put my nerves at ease. I ended up going into labor and Harmony came over very early on and accompanied us to the hospital- twice. Once admitted she was so calm and helped myself and my husband stay focused and calm during my long labor. She stayed by our side for 26 hours and was a great inspiration during 2 hours of pushing. She even helped me nurse immediately after birth. Even now, 5 months after, she is available as a support to answer any of my questions. I know I would not have made it through my labor without any interventions if it hadn't been for her. She is wonderful and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a doula. Thank you, Harmony!

I really enjoyed working with Harmony for my second birth. Things went completely out of order of the plans we had and I was so grateful to have Harmony to talk to during my long & confusing induction at the hospital. Once my daughter decided to make her appearance, Harmony got there in time and helped us get through the last 8 hours of labor and delivery. For me, her support during my difficult early postpartum days was the most important. While caring for a toddler and trying to figure out a colicky newborn, I needed the shoulder to lean on to feel OK about everything. I was extremely lucky to get the chance to hire Harmony on very very short notice.
