I hired Cathy initially because she's so down to earth and genuine. I got the sense that she really wants to support women and empower them with no judgement, which are exactly the qualities you need when in labor.
Unfortunately I had to move right before my birth, but Cathy went above and beyond and searched for doula recommendations to assist me in my birth where I'm going. Her kindness and support are so appreciated and is further proof that she is more about the mothers support than the business of it. I 1000% would hire her again or recommend her to my friends and family.
After my husband and I attended a childbirth class and learned about the many aspects of both a medicated birth and a non-medicated birth, we felt overwhelmed by the impending birth of our daughter. We wanted an advocate who could help us make informed decisions regarding the birth. We found an excellent advocate in Cathy, who supported us throughout the weeks leading up to our daughter's late arrival, during labor and delivery, and in the following weeks. She shared her personal experiences, provided information and strategies, and answered our many questions to alleviate our fears and help us feel confident. Furthermore, her presence during the birth help me physically and mentally cope with the pain, and her previously provided insights and knowledge empowered me to advocate for myself with the hospital staff. We are very grateful for Cathy's support, which equipped us with the necessary tools for a successful and positive birthing experience.
We used Cathy for the birth of our second child. I really wanted an unmedicated, vaginal delivery and Cathy was a huge part in achieving that goal. She provided help before labor began by teaching my husband and I how to get baby in the best position for birth. She was always available for questions when I had them, and was a calming prescence as I got closer to labor. I ended up having to be induced and she was so helpful in keeping me calm during the process and helping is think through our decisions during induction. During labor, she was so supportive. She helped relieve a lot of pain by applying acupressure as well as keeping me calm and focused. Transition was really intense but she was calm and helped me through it. Even when I was ready for the epidural. :) I ended up having the vaginal delivery I wanted without an epidural. Even with an induction. Afterwards, I ended up having some complications and Cathy remained in close contact, providing support through a pretty challenging time. I appreciated having someone to bounce ideas off of and help me process what happened during labor and afterwards. My husband and I both agreed that hiring Cathy was the best decision we could have made for the delivery of our son.
This was our third child, and though I never had a doula in the past, I knew I wanted one this time. I wanted that extra support and peace of mind -- and we absolutely got it with Cathy. From our initial interview, I knew she would be a great fit -- warm, insightful, easy-going, and supportive of my choices. I appreciated that she herself has given birth herself with and without epidural (as I had epidurals with my first two) and her goal is simply to ensure a good birth experience. We met twice before the birth and she helped us complete a birth plan and do positioning (spinning babies) exercises.
My baby was a couple days late and Cathy helped keep my spirits up with supportive messages and tips. She met us at the hospital when I was in early labor and stayed through the first feeding of baby -- and me, haha. Cathy had all kinds of techniques and coping mechanisms that we utilized -- I never had used a shower or tub for laboring before but we talked about it early on and it was a big help both for relief and for moving labor along. I really liked that she could help guide my husband because especially when the contractions get bad, you do not want to be giving instructions, you need proactive support.
In the end, baby came rapidly -- she was crowning and Cathy raced out to get the doctor, who got there just in time to catch baby. It was a wild ride.
I highly recommend Cathy as a doula. She is knowledgable, supportive, and a calm, reassuring presence. She is easy to get along with and worked well with the hospital staff, too.
Cathy was AMAZING! We contacted her pretty late on in our pregnancy, and she was happy to take us. Her visit prebaby was so insightful. She gave us many neat tips and loads of information. She was very catering to our personal wishes through the whole process. During the big day she acted as a huge supporter. I was on the fence with some of the doctors orders and she reached out to other doulas to get a wealth of knowledge to help me make my decision. After delivery I had some complications and was very out of it. Cathy stepped in and ensured that everything in my birth plan I wanted still happened. We were thrillled to have her with us during this exciting experience!
I do not even know where to start. Words cannot express or even begin to cover how thankful my husband and I are for Cathy. From the interview process on she was abosulutely amazing during our pregnancy. As first time parents we had so many questions and she answered every single one of them with patience and understading. I was so nervous about the delivery process, and she listened to every fear/concern and talked me through every possible scenario. She really helped to alleviate my nerves. She was on call and it was clear that we were a priority from the very beginning. We loved that she met with us multiple times before hand and even met at our home to do exercises (which I am convinced helped to ensure our son was in a good birthing position). The day of our delivery, thanks to techniques we were given, I was able to labor at home for a large amount of time. During this time, Cathy offered to come to our home. However, we had her meet us at the hopsital; where she was so supportive the whole labor and delivery. She ensured that our birth plan was followed and made the whole experience more comfortable. My husband still continuously says how great it was having her there for support not only for me, but to help guide him on how best to help and support me as well. Afterwards she stayed with me and even helped me with my my initial feeding, which I was very appreciative of. She also paid us a sweet visit once we returned home as well.
I am so glad that we chose to have a doula, and I am so blessed that we found Cathy to fill that role. She truly helped to make our birth story wonderful and our little family is forever greatful.
My original doula could not make it to my birth so she referred Cathy, although I had never met Cathy and met her while in labor at the hospital she made me feel so comfortable right away! had a very long hard complicated labor but Cathy did not go one second without making me feel better and reassuring me that everything would be ok! cathy is someone I can completely trust!
Thank you Cathy again for everything!
Cathy was a great doula. I originally had another doula in training to provide services and unfortunately she was not able to continue as my doula. she provided me with the names of other doulas in training and Cathy was one of them. I chose to use Cathy because she was a mother of 4 children and I wanted to use someone who was familiar with birthing a child and could empathize with me once I was in labor. I was already almost 35 weeks when I had to get another doula. I was very stressed as I had already built a relationship with the other doula. Cathy was very understanding of my situation and was very reassuring. Although she already had assisted and attended the necessary amount of births for her certification, she still agreed to be my doula free of charge. That put me at ease as I could not afford to hire a doula and was previously using a doula student. Cathy met me in my home and showed my husband and I different techinques in dealing with labor and was very hands on. She always sent me texts to see how I was feeling and when I was feeling anxious and stressed, she was always encouraging and helped ease my worries. I thought I was in labor on two occasions and both times she was attentive and encouraging. On the day of my actual labor, she continued following my progress and was very punctual with her arrival. She was awesome with helping deal with my pain. I had a natural home water birth and was not able to take pain medication so it was vital to me that I had her with me to help with dealing with the pain. She provided relief to my back pain by applying counter pressure. It was amazing. She was very encouraging when I thought I couldn't do it! After I gave birth, she continued following up with me and providing me with information on breastfeeding. She even came to my home a few days later to see the baby. Although our time together was very brief and unexpected, I'm glad that she was my doula.
Cathy was my doula in July when I gave birth to our daughter. She was able to help us successfully attain all of the aspects of our daughter’s birth that we desired including an unmedicated birth, delayed cord cutting, and immediate skin to skin contact. Throughout the entire pregnancy Cathy was available for questions, concerns, encouragement and emotional support. My pregnancy was an incredibly stressful and emotional time because my mom had been diagnosed with a terminal illness. When I was concerned about my mom and family Cathy listened compassionately and was able to gently help me pay attention to keeping myself and the baby healthy. My mother ended up passing away just 24 hours before my labor started. Needless to say by the time I was in labor my husband and I were both extremely tired and emotional but Cathy coached us through every minute of it. The labor started late one Friday night and Cathy stayed in close contact with us through calls and texts then on Saturday she joined us to help me labor as long as I could at home. My water finally broke Saturday night and Cathy followed us to the hospital where she stayed by my side until our daughter's birth on Sunday morning. It was a long hard labor and we could not have done it without her. Cathy's patience and knowledge was what made our successful delivery possible. We plan on using Cathy as our doula for the birth of any of our future children.
