Kirsten taught my husband some fantastic techniques for supporting me in my labor. The use and education in rebozo techniques were invaluable in early labor. She also gave him rest when he needed it. The two of them together helped ground me when I was losing control, and helped remind me that I could get through labor and deliver my own child.
I absolutely loved having someone trained in water labor and spent quite a lot of time in the tub. It, and her presence, were a huge source of comfort and brought me peace and a feeling of safety when I needed it most. She helped me find my voice when I needed to advocate for myself. I could not have achieved my VBAC without both her and my husband by my side.
Kirsten was an amazing asset, friend, support, teacher, and birth coach!! My husband and I attended her birth class, which was super informative and hands on. Through class and prenatal visits she helped us prepare for and know what to expect during birth. She came to our house for the prenatal visits and was awesome and friendly with our entire family!! When it came time for labor, she drove a long distance to be there and support us! She was excellent with emotional and physical support during the labor process!! After experiencing a doula like Kirsten, I tell people I would never do birth without a doula again!! I highly recommend Kirsten Clark as a Doula!!!
Kirsten is amazing to work with! Every session with her made me feel more confident about the birth of our first child! She was an absolute rockstar during my labor- I ended up with an early induction at 37 weeks and I was in labor for nearly 48 hours. Kirsten was there for nearly all of it and she made me feel so supported and loved. She encouraged me to use water labor to help with the pain and she helped with position changes to alleviate pressures. I cannot imagine how things would have gone without her calming voice there reassuring us all. I may not have gotten to have the natural birth I wanted, but I was able to have a safe and supported labor thanks to Kirsten. <3 I will definitely be reaching out to her with my next child, too! If you are on the fence about hiring a doula, I highly recommend you meet with Kirsten!
To put it simply, I’m convinced that Kirsten is THE reason I got the natural birth I wanted so desperately. She shared her wisdom and experience with me during my prenatal appointments, helping me to figure out my expectations and goals for this birth. She helped me talk through my traumatic past experience and in some ways find closure just through talking it out With her. She always took her time and stayed as long as I needed her. She is extremely down to earth, slways up beat and positive. She’s just one of those people you feel like you can open up to even though you literally might’ve just met her that day. She immediately connected with my fiancé who was initially pretty reluctant to spend money on something like this. She worked seamlessly alongside him through my entire labor and delivery, offering unwavering support and encouragement. She never missed a beat, she always had something new to try as soon as she sensed my fear trying to take over. She never stopped believing in me, she knew I could do it, and I did! Thank you Kirsten, for everything. I never want to have another baby without your support!
PS: She also free handed the most beautiful henna tattoo on my belly! I gave her an idea and she brought it to life. I will always have a precious memory of my baby kicking and turning in my belly as Kirsten painted. ??
Kirsten was wonderful! I interviewed several doulas before I found her and knew within just a few minutes of speaking with her that she was the one for me! She was warm and friendly yet completely professional from the start and super easy to talk to.
I have terrible anxiety around health and having her close at hand to answer my questions and calm my worries throughout my pregnancy was invaluable! I texted her nearly around the clock and she was always happy to speak with me no matter the time and never once made me feel as though I was being bothersome!
She supported me 100% through all of my decisions and always came through with new pathways, ideas and options for me when I felt stuck or hendered in getting the birth I wanted.
She's just as extra as I am, providing us with not only the support she promised but extra teachings, knowledge and gifts as well!
She encapsulated my placenta for me and I never had to lift a finger with it. She handled it from start to finish and delivered the capsules to us the evening we got home from the hospital with a huge bag of DELICIOUS made from scratch lactation cookies (and other goodies)!
I've told everyone who will listen to me how wonderful she's been and I highly HIGHLY recommend her for all of your pregnancy/labor/postpartum needs! The pure passion she has for caring for mothers and babies radiates through everything she does! She won't let you down!
Postpartum moms (especially new moms) need support. End of story.
Having just moved to the area without much of a local support, an out-of-state friend of mine surprised me with the gift of a postpartum doula... enter Kirsten to the rescue! (Thank you, Deidre!)
I am a first time, c-section-recovering(!!!) mom who had NO IDEA of the challenges that a newborn would bring. Kirsten has helped me tremendously as I learned how to be a mother to my new baby, Evie. Kirsten is kind, non-judgmental, aware, knowledgeable and more importantly, supportive in how I want to do motherhood.
The first time Evie and I met her was after my mother and mother-in-law left (about the 3rd week mark). I was still a walking zombie and was still not oriented to day or time. Because I was recovering from my c-section, I needed help with so much and she was STELLAR with the following: assisting with light housework, pediatric and OB appointments, providing breastfeeding and bottle feeding support, connecting and providing support to local resources, emotional support, information on birth control, and how to navigate and continue to nurture a relationship with a new baby, etc.
I am glad that we prioritized our time with her so that she would be able to help us for a longer stretch of time. She helped me to establish my new routine as a mom and helped me to become more self-sufficient so that I could feel and be more confident and capable with my new role.
I really could not have done it this far without Kirsten (physically and emotionally). I think without her, the transition would have been so much more difficult. She just knew so much and knew how to help and is just a wonderful person that after my time with her, I want to be her friend!
When I found out I was pregnant with my second baby, I knew I wanted to have a birth doula, which a lot of people wouldn't understand since I am a doula myself. I had already met Kristen and knew of her own birth experiences and her passion for birth. Because of my financial situation, I only hired her when I was 38 weeks pregnant and she was still willing to take me as her client, which meant the world to me.
She was AMAZING at providing emotional support and information and showing my husband comfort measures for early labor and active labor. When I went into labor she joined me when I needed her and was SO great!
With her skills and knowledge she helped me all the way, reminding me to trust my body, relax and giving me confidence. She offered me comfort through massage, kind words, reassurance and suggesting differen positions.
I am so glad she was there for me. She is absolutely amazing, passionate and professional. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to have a better birth experience. She suppoerted all my wishes, without judgement and definitely helped me have the birth I wanted, unmedicated, natural and beautiful. :)
I had the great pleasure of having Kirsten as my doula. Being that this was my first pregnancy and I wanted a natural childbirth, I knew hiring a doula was exactly the support that I needed in order to achieve that. Kirsten helped me get through a 16 hour all natural labor. Her expertise, kind spirit and supportive energy, helped me achieve the birth experience I was hoping for! Couldn’t have done it without her!
I started looking into hiring a doula towards the end of my second trimester of my third pregnancy. After the traumatic labor and delivery I had with my second child I had many fears and anxieties about my pending birth. Once we hired Kirsten my fears and anxieties about my birth began to subside and turn into excitement for my labor to begin. Kirsten was always there for me for anything that I needed. She helped me put together my birth plan. She was also there with me when I spoke with my OB/GYN about the way I wanted my birth to go. Prior to active labor beginning, I had about two weeks of prodromal labor which Kirsten helped me through. A couple of days before my baby was born, I was admitted to the hospital for labor. After about 6-7 hrs, my labor had completely stalled and I decided to ask to go home. Kirsten was with us the whole time I was admitted to the hospital. The next day my water broke, and my daughter was born about 22hrs later. I postponed going to the hospital until contractions picked up. Kirsten was there for me for the 13 long hours that I was in labor. She was such a huge support to myself and my husband. I know without a doubt that I would not have been able to make it through all of my labor and delivery naturally if I did not have Kirsten beside me helping me through. If you want a doula who will fully support your wishes and who is compassionate and caring I strongly recommend you hire Kirsten. She is very passionate about the birthing process and she loves helping mothers achieve the birth they desire.
I had no idea how much I needed a doula until I had Kirsten. Destined for a third c-section, there didn't seem to be a point to having someone (other than my husband) accompany me to the operating room. But I was so wrong! Kirsten gave me the confidence and the comfort I needed to enjoy every moment of bringing my third daughter into the world!
My quiet husband was nervous about having to share his personal space during the birth, but she did a great job of playing tag team with him and anticipating our needs. While he rubbed my head during the surgery, she snapped pictures of the baby emerging, being cleaned, snuggling with us for the first time, etc. It was marvelous to look back later and see my child being born! When my husband accompanied the baby to the nursery, Kirsten stayed with me and helped me navigate recovery. She was such a comforting presence, sitting quietly by my side, answering occassional questions for me and acting as a buffer from the medical bustle around me. Again, I had no idea how much I needed this! My first two births were so stressful, but this was almost relaxing!
One of Kirsten's greatest strengths is her ability to feel and process emotions. Having her at the birth was amazing, but even more important were the conversations before and after. My first two births were emotionally traumatic, and she helped me work through my tears and fears. It has been a long process of healing, but I know that without her support I would still be dealing with emotional baggage. She listened, she asked helpful questions, and she truly cared - deeply - about my story. Again, this was support I had no idea I needed. When most people were telling me "at least the baby is healthy," Kirsten was validating my grief and frustration while helping me find the joy, and this was huge.
If you have had a traumatic birth in the past, or want a peaceful birth now, I highly HIGHLY recommend Kirsten!
