Becca was an amazing postpartum doula the weeks after having our son. I was nervous about the transition into motherhood and and wanted to make sure I had support and help at home. Becca was a great source of comfort and support in these early weeks and I am very happy that we hired her. She offered recovery support and assistance with household tasks, such as laundry and meals. It is sometimes hard for me to accept help but I greatly appreciated her assisting with these tasks, especially when you have an adorable little one sleeping in your arms! She also helped us figure out how to use a number of carriers and tips and tricks for soothing and comforting a newborn. She is the best shusher I have ever met! Becca is kind, gentle, patient and warms every room she enters. I found these necessary qualities to have in your presence after having a baby! I am very happy we decided to hire Becca as our postpartum doula and would highly recommend her anyone!
How to begin... For my first birth experience, in addition to my husband, I wanted access to a constant, supportive female presence. I'm a very spiritual and religious person, a Christian. My husband is Jewish, and not religious. For this reason, I knew I wanted a doula who could fill in where Jeremy couldn't, being like-spirited, leading prayer and just having a certain intention and heart space during labor. I began to search for a Christian doula, and I found Becca! We met for coffee and she explained her reasons for becoming a doula, and specifically her passion for post-partum work. I loved her grounding energy, and wanted to work with her. During labor her presence was perfect, knowing when to step in with words or touch, and when to sit back. Even when she gave me space, the presence and intention was unwavering. Having studied photography in school, she generously offered to take pictures during labor, which is possibly the most valuable take away from the doula experience. Stunning, priceless pictures. She also worked with us as our post-partum doula. She visited several times after Bennett was born, so generously ready to help however I or the family needed that day. From giving our sweet dog attention and walks, to changing diapers, to encouraging me as I re-organized and minimalized baby clothing and my clothing, advice for activities and classes I was interested in, breastfeeding support, shoulder massages, and 24/7 availability via call or text about any concerns I was having, no matter how hard it was to open up. Becca created an atmosphere where I felt safe to share. Becca is my angel, truly. A gift from God. I can't recommend her services enough! She has the heart for this work, the generosity of body and spirit, and the passion. She's the full package.
My husband and I welcomed our first child into the world on August 2nd. During the first half of my pregnancy I was unsure about my desired birth experience and ignored thinking about it for awhile. As my pregnancy progressed, I began attending prenatal yoga classes and started to feel that I wanted to try to have an unmedicated birth if my body and the circumstances allowed for it. Initially I would say that I didn’t believe I could or that I had the pain tolerance for it, but the more I learned the more I wanted to give myself the opportunity to try and I realized that hiring a doula would be a very helpful step. We met and hired Becca to be our doula at 36 weeks. We were a bit late to the game but we had plenty of time to meet with her for prenatal discussions.
Becca was a perfect fit for us and we learned a lot from our meetings with her. My husband felt more prepared for the day of labor and I knew we were setting ourselves up with a great team for birth. My pregnancy went to 41wk and 4 Days and Becca was encouraging and supportive as the days went on and we kept waiting for the arrival of our son. When I went into labor, Becca met us at the hospital ready to go. While we were in triage she was able to support my husband and offer tips to help comfort me while I was laboring. In the triage area I was feeling mentally defeated by the contractions, but once we were settled into a L&D room, Becca was able to jump into action to relieve the intensity and offer the support Charles and I both needed. She was calm, confident, prepared, and present. We are so thrilled we hired her and that she was on the team to help bring our son into the world. I highly recommend her service for birth.
Becca is now like a part of the family after being such an integral part of our son's arrival. Becca was so amazing during the entire experience and I really wish I would have used her for my first two babies. This was my third baby and ended up being my toughest labor and I was so thankful her calming spirit was there.
Before we even made it to the hospital, I had a few false alarms (they thought my fluid was low) and Becca stayed on standby during each one and talked me through everything. She was always available to me which was so comforting.
At the hospital, I had a nurse that was pretty abrasive and started to make me feel bad for some of my labor decisions. Becca was by my side and kept me calm and reassured that I could have the labor I wanted. She helped throughout the day with making sure I was totally comfortable and had food and water and anything else I needed in the moment (or just someone to talk to the nurse when I didn't want to).
As the contractions picked up, Becca was there with new positions and an awesome peanut pillow thing that helped relax my hips and speed things along.
And to top it all off, Becca captured all the special moments which we will cherish for the rest of our lives. The pictures of us holding our son for the first time are just so so special. You will never regret having those pictures to look back at because the emotions you feel at that moment are unexplainable.
I was on the fence about having a doula because it was my third baby but whether its your first or fifth, every labor is different. Becca is such a kind, gentle and calming spirit. I'm so thankful for all she did for me on that day. We absolutely adore her and couldn't recommend her enough!!
There are not enough words to thank Becca for how much she helped us as our postpartum doula! We were blown away by the gift of her being a part of our experience and helping us in numerous ways, sometimes in ways I didn't even know I needed but she somehow did :) When looking for a postpartum doula, we wanted someone with a tender heart who could offer us support, physically, mentally and emotionally, and also help support my recovery as the new mother. We knew right away after interviewing Becca that should could meet all of these needs - and then some! She helped with so many tasks, baby and non-baby related, and she cooked us some amazing, healthy meals! She provided so many benefits - education, mother & father support, extra set of hands, prayer, and breastfeeding support. Most of all, we love the spirit that she brings into the room - she embodies gentleness, kindness, peace and joy. One of her many gifts is the ability to listen and for a new mom, this is priceless. She is even a gifted photographer and captured so many precious moments with our little baby girl. We would hire Becca again in a heartbeat and would be recommend her to the masses!
