We cannot speak more highly of Emma and the beautiful care she provided our family. After a traumatic birth experience with our first child, my husband and I were resolved to make the birth of our second child a healing experience for both of us. Emma made this dream a reality for our family. Her positive attitude well as immense researched based knowledge was the perfect balance for us to feel confident going into our second birth.
Meeting with us in prenatal appointments, Emma taught us about the body's ability to birth, spinning babies exercises to assist in baby's positioning for labor and delivery, empowering us with knowledge to determine what we wanted this birth to look like and assisting us in setting up the best postpartum environment in the weeks after our baby's arrival.
While pregnancy is a time of incredible physical transformation, with Emma's assistance I went through an incredible mental transformation as well. She helped me I grow as a mother and wife, teaching me so much about myself and empowered me to speak up for what was best for me, our family and baby. Most of all, Emma changed my definition of Empowered Birth. I originally had my mind set on a natural, unmedicated birth but learned throughout my pregnancy that empowered birth is so much more about being present throughout birth, feeling supported both physically and emotionally as well as being prepared if the birth does not go as planned which was exactly what happened for us as our sweet baby reamined breech and necessitated a repeat caesarean delivery.
In the end, we were at peace with God’s plan for a c-section because of all the ways Emma prepared us to find strength and comfort in what *we* wanted in this birth which was a safe, uncomplicated delivery of our second child. Because of our experience I want to tell every pregnant woman to hire Emma for your birth!! You will never regret it.
I have to start out and say Emma is WONDERFUL, just in case you don't read everything else :).
We first knew we wanted to find a postpartrum Doula when we found out we were having baby #2. With our first, I had severe post partum anxiety and it took me a year to readjust and feel normal again. Our son was 14 months old when we found out we were pregnant again, and I knew we needed to be proactive this time around. Insert: Emma. The first time I met Emma, I knew she was going to be the perfect fit. She is very knowledagable on all things mom, baby, family life with kiddos, etc. But most of all, I just felt like she was one of my girlfriends and would be very supportive throughout the process of brining a new life in to our family.
Luckily this time around I adjusted back to normal very quickly. Emma might say she felt like she didn't have to do much for me, but I attribute the easier transition this time around to Emma's support. I had one to two days a week I could look forward to catching up with Emma, help in the kitchen making meals, and someone to vent to about all things life. We grew a great bond over our son's and how similar they were, and Emma helped get our picky toddler eater back to eating again with a few fun foods and tips.
Thanks to Emma, our family as a whole, transitioned in to life as a family of 4 (really 5 with Frother Yadi) with ease. Not to mention, going in to having another little one, I had no stress or anxiety because I knew we had Emma on our side. I would highly recommend hiring a Doula to navigate this transition in life, and Emma is an excellent example of why. Thank you Emma for all you did for our family!
This was our first pregnancy and birth experience. My husband and I have said over and over again since the birth of our son that we want Emma for all of our children. She is very relaxing and I knew from our first visit that she would be a calming presence for the labor and delivery which is exactly what I wanted. During the labor it all went by so fast and Emma never left my side helping me through every contraction. She was a huge support to my husband as well which enabled him to support me well. She also really helped us stick to our birth preferences as much as possible. In the end, she was hugely instrumental in us avoiding a cesarian birth. Not only was she amazing for the birth of our son, but she also helped us immensely in preparing for birth and parenthood. I did not really anticipate how helpful her pregnancy visits and postpartum visits would be, but we have found her to be extremely helpful in every way to our success with this whole new experience! I cannot recommend her srongly enough.
Emma is fantastic! My wife and I were both first-time parents, nervous and sometimes feeling overwhelmed, and Emma was both a wealth of information throughout our prenatal and birth planning phase as well as a calming presence throughout birth. We highly recommend Emma and would hope to have her for any future babies!
It was such a joy working with Emma. What I liked about her is that she is meticulous in what she does. She clearly loves babies and babies love her back. She is also quite knowledgeable. As a mum who likes to work out it was nice exchanging ideas on what I could do postpartum to get back into shape. I am still using her as a resource even though it has been almost four months since I had the baby. Oh, she is also prompt in communication, which is a big one for me. I would definitely recommend her to anyone.
