Kate has been such a blessing to myself, my partner, and our son Riley throughout our postpartum experience. Having a baby was one of the most humbling experiences of my life. I am a person who needs to plan EVERYTHING. As most new parents know, you can try with all your might to plan every aspect of your birth and postpartum care for your child, but that is virtually impossible. For example, I was dead set on breastfeeding my baby for a minimum of six months, (longer if possible). After about three months of breastfeeding, circumstances made it extremely difficult to continue. I was so disappointed in myself and because of that feeling I dreaded telling anyone I had switched to formula. Kate had been so supportive and encouraging of my breastfeeding. I felt guilty when I had to tell her I had made the switch. As I continued to over – explain my reasons for switching, Kate stayed true to her nature and stopped me by saying, “some people say breast is best, but I think fed is best.” Wow. Those words hit me so hard I thought I might cry. No one up until this point had made me feel so comfortable with my decision. This is just one of the many circumstances Kate has shown me love, support, and non-judgmental understanding when it came to my parenting. If you are looking for a calm, nurturing, respectful, professional Doula whom will show you, your baby/babies, and your partner/s nothing but unconditional love and caring I would highly recommend Kate Slade – Cook Street Village Doula.
