I have spoken to Meg prior to this review. I am hopeful she will make the necessary adjustments to her practice in the future. I would recommend any future families discuss these items at length.

During our birth time, rather than support my husband to support me, Meg stood in front of me as my only support. Unable to verbally express my needs to an intense and fast birth, I felt totally disconnected from my husband when I needed him. Rather than being in the background and helping set up the birth pool and helping with the kids, she made herself the only option. Once baby was born, and the time came to cut the umbilical cord my husband was nervous and declined. rather than provide support and encouragement Meg volunteered. We were surprised and caught off guard. And she cut baby’s cord. This should have never happened. she should have been in the background supporting my husband or myself to do it. After the birth, the midwives were left to clean everything up while Meg sat on a chair listening to conversations. She did not help with laundry or bringing food to me. My husband was left to cook me eggs when he should have been bonding with us. Meh was then the first to leave. The sibling doula stuck around to clean and ensure I was well taken care of.

Post partum I did not hear from Meg for a week after birth. No phone call or text or visit immediately after birth. I felt so unsupported. It was a month before we were able to connect.

Honestly, while Meg is lovely and kind. I would be wary to hire her again. possibly with more experience and less eagerness she will embrace a more behind the scenes roll needed to be a birth support.  I encourage anyone hiring her to discuss this at length with her to ensure a positive and well supported birth experience.
