My services include providing educational support, advocacy, assistance creating a birth plan, emotional and physical support throughout pregnancy as well as through labor and delivery, breastfeeding assistance, and postpartum support. I believe every woman that wants a doula should have one! I am willing to trade/barter, and accept payment plans. Doula services include 1-3 prenatal visits, physical and emotional support during labor and delivery, and 1-2 postpartum visits. I am also happy to provide additional educational support as needed, access to my lending library, pregnancy, birth and family resources, and more. Birth is amazing - you can do it, I can help!

My third child was born in April 2017, and I was determined to nurse him after I had a lot of trouble with my other two and ended up bottle feeding them. I thought I was prepared, and it went much better this time around. Except, my baby probably was tongue tied (we had it revised) and, in combination with inverted nipples had a shallow painful latch. I got an almost dime sized wound on one nipple. Ouch. We tried everything- pumped, supplemental nursing system, bottle, nipple shields,...-, but he didn't gain weight and started to refuse the breast. I contacted Jessica who came by only a few hours later on a Saturday, even though she had never met me. It was magic. In her presence and with her help, my son latched on as if he'd never been doing anything else. No fussing, deep latch. Jessica had talked to him and handled him with respect, and this along with her calm personality made all the difference.
In the next few weeks, she kept checking in and giving advice from afar.
When I noticed that the wound I got before Jessica helped me wouldn't heal with all the friction from nursing, I decided to pump until it would heal. It took six weeks, lots of pumping, meticulous wound care until it healed. By then, my son had learned to appreciate the pretty slow but steady flow of the bottle. Jessica came by to the rescue once again, and he was almost exclusively back at the breast that same day. He has been exclusively breastfeeding since then.
Jessica is so knowledgeable about nursing, potential issues and how to solve them. Her selfless, understanding, and calm personality makes her the perfect doula and any point before, during, and after childbirth.
I'm so thankful I met her!
Jessica was a great help during my c-section with my third child. She was very encouraging and positive. She also helped and took pictures so that my husband didn't have to, he could focus on the baby and on me. She was very caring, very positive, and I loved having her with me during the birth experience. She also was very helpful in making sure that I knew my options during birth and that I could get as natural of a birth as possible even though it was a C-section. I would suggest a doula to anybody whether you have to do birth through scheduled C-section or you have the opportunity to labor. Doulas are great support and they help and are encouraging and positive through the whole process.
I gave birth to my first child, a daughter, on 3/10/17. Having Jessica as my doula absolutely made the entire experience so memorable and special. I met Jessica through a mutual friend weeks after finding out I was pregnant. She is very warm and personable, and made me feel comfortable right away.
We met several times before my due date, and reviewed expectations, stages of labor, and comfort techniques.
When I went into labor, Jessica came to my house and supported me the entire time. When it was time to go to the hospital, she and my daughter's father worked tirelessly together to help me be as comfortable as possible while going through labor naturally. Her calming presence and expertise allowed me to reach my goal of giving birth without drugs.
I would recommend Jessica to anyone!
As the husband and dad, the number one thing my wife needed from me during labor was support. Having Jessica there as her doula allowed me to focus on just being there for my wife. I knew that I didn't need to worry about things like positions, breathing methods, or even trying to understand what my wife was feeling, because Jessica had all that under control. I was the hand holder, the encourager, the person that was there for my wife to look at and remember why she was going through labor (family). I was able to give my wife peace of mind, and Jessica gave me peace of mind.
I knew that Jessica understood this. She let me be the dad. She knew when my wife needed to change positions, or knew which spot on her back might need to be rubbed, but she also understood that this moment (or several hours worth of moments) was so special for my wife and I, and she knew what moments to let us have to ourselves. She knew the things that she needed to do herself, and the things that my wife needed me to do. Understanding that difference was huge for me, because I never had to worry if I was doing my "job" correctly. I knew that anything my wife wasn't getting from me, she was getting from someone else.
If I were to describe Jessica as a doula in one word, it would be "selfless". She showed up in the middle of the night, stayed through every tough minute of the labor and delivery, gave everything of herself that she could, and then stepped back and gave us those first moments with our daughter, surrounded by people and yet totally alone with each other. Labor is long, and stressful, and exhausting, and by the end it felt like Jessica chose to be right there beside us the entire time just to help us get to that moment.
I know that my labor would have been WAY different if Jessica hadn't been there. Our goal was an unmedicated labor, and without Jessica, I probably would have given up. She helped keep me calm and as comfortable as possible. She encouraged me to keep going.
Jessica met with us before our due date to talk about our expectations of her, of my husband, and of the hospital staff. We also went over our birthplan. Since this was our first pregnancy and birth, it was very helpful for me. She brought up many things that I would never have thought of and I was able to mentally prepare for my upcoming labor.
Our daughter decided it was time to come a week early and Jessica actually cut her camping trip short and met us at the hospital. Throughout my 24 hour labor, the nursing staff and my doctor asked a few questions that I didn't fully understand- or know which option was best. When I would look to Jessica, she would lay out the options and the implications of each choice so that my husband and I could go with what was best and along our birthplan. She applied different oils during different times in my labor. She also massaged my back and my legs to help alleviate some of the pain. From the very beginning, she recommended different positions to try and assisted me in getting into them. She also stepped in for my husband a few times to remind me to breathe when he needed to eat or use the restroom.
I'm so thankful I had Jessica as part of my birthing team! She'll definitely be apart of our next labor!
