Chelsea encapsulated my placenta after the birth of my second child. I didn’t get my placenta encapsulated with my first son and I really wanted to try it and see if it would actually help with my hormones and postpartum blues. What surprised and impressed me the most is how clean and professional she was! She left my kitchen cleaner than she found it. She was clear about instructions with my pills and even gave me part of the umbilical cord in the shape of a heart for a keepsake! I definitely wish I had encapsulated with my first son and will always recommend encapsulation with Chelsea! I have had more energy and only small handful of days where I have felt the blues. It has made a big difference!
Chelsea has got to be the goddess of nurturing woman through labor and delivery. Her motherly services were vital in a time of desperate need. It was a win on win deal, we needed each other to accomplish the same goal. Which was to bring my son Ezra into this world healthy and naturally. She emotionally, spiritually, physically, & mentally had a soothing influence throughout my excruciating 27 hours of labor. She comforted me, kept me calm, and helped me make well informed decisions about the whole process. We made the hospital room into a serenity filled environment all zen'd out! If you want a safe, memorable, empowering birth experience, I highly recommend Chelsea Larsen as your Doula!
My second child's birth was incredible, and my experience with Chelsea Larsen as my doula contributed so much to that success! I had fears going into labor concerning my physical condition, with extreme lumbar and sacral pain due to past injuries, which I was certain would be excuciating during labor. During an unmedicated labor/delivery, Chelsea calmed many of my fears by being a practical, emotional, and physical support.
Chelsea contributed practically during labor by driving me to the birthing center when the time came, picking me up at home and talking me through the contractions I had in the car on the way there. (My husband was arranging childcare for our older child and arrived at the birthing center shortly after I did.) She continued to be a practical support by helping to keep me hydrated as well!
Chelsea helped me emotionally during labor by hanging encouraging banners around the room with phrases reminding me to let my body open downward, or to remember the baby that I will be holding when I'm finished with labor. She consistently reminded me how well I was doing, too!
In the most important categor, physical support, I was relieved that she not only gave counter-pressure to my hips/back to relieve contraction pain and helped me change positions, but also helped me use a special pillow-nest kneeling position that was key for me to be as comfortable as possible during the worst of labor. I think this position really made my back/pelvic pain much more manageable! In combination with cold cloths on my forehead, hands to grip, reminders to breathe regularly, counterpressure, and help transitioning into the birth pool, the doula experience really made this birth so much more comfortable and powerful than my last birth.
Her care extended after birth as well, with her willingness to help by bringing snacks to my home, and to check in on how I was doing with the new baby. You are en excellent doula, Chelsea! Thank you!
