I had the great pleasure of having Lou Ann as my doula for the birth of my second baby on July 26, 2017. After a somewhat disappointing experience with my first delivery, which ultinately lead to IV narcotics, and an epidural, I knew that I wanted a doula for my second delivery. I was referred to Lou Ann by a friend who raved about her. i could not have been more pleased with my experience. Lou Ann is kind, caring, and empathetic but also light-hearted, funny, confident, and outspoken when she needs to be. These are all personality traits that I needed when I was feeling afraid, vulnerable and defeated during my labor. She met with me several times during the weeks leading up to my due date and we discussed exactly what I needed and wanted once labor began. She respected and supported my wishes, and stuck up for me at the hospital. I finally had the medication-free experience I was hoping for thanks to Lou Ann. She even checked in on me and my baby a week or two after delivery. I can not recommend her more highly. I am so grateful to her for helping me achieve the birth experience I wanted.

My husband and I recently had the great honor of having Lou Ann as our Doula for the birth of our son on December 21st, 2016. This was baby #2 for us and our 2nd time using a Doula, however, our experience this time with Lou Ann was night and day! Her confident and encouraging demeanor, along with her wealth of knowledge, gave me the support and confidence I needed to not only get through, but actually enjoy the labor and delivery! I experienced prodromal labor for about 3 days before delivery and she was patient, attentive and engaging the entire time before our experience in the hospital. As soon as we got to the hospital, she was exactly the 'birth coach' that we needed to help us get into a groove and keep up the morale. She used positive words of affirmation along with well-trained techniques specifically geared towards my needs. She supported my husband in his role and he has said "we couldn't have had the birth that we did without her!" After my 44 hour labor and delivery plus an epidural due to fatigue, baby positioning and mentally giving up with our first child, I was somewhat fearful of labor and birth going into the 2nd. I knew what I wanted but didn't think it was possible. With Lou Ann by our side, we arrived at the hospital at 10am (@5cm dilated) and delivered our son at 3pm, unmediated and an experience I had dreamed about! She even checked in on me about a week or two later for postpartum care to make sure we were adjusting well and I felt valued and cared for. (Something that can be forgotten about after birth.) Words cannot express how grateful we are for Lou Ann and we highly recommend her as a Doula for all mamas-to-be!

I know if I said "I could not have accomplished the natural birth center birth I wanted without Lou Ann", she would look me right in the face and tell me "YES you could have, but I was so honored and happy to be there!" because that is just the kind of person/doula she is. She instills more security and confidense in you than you could ever imagine, and she truly makes you feel ready for anything, because you can see she really believes in womens strength and abilities. She was able to be the exact doula I needed, while also being the exact doula my husband needed, all in one. The end of my birth was really tough, and I KNOW Lou Ann being there at the end is the reason why we did not have a traumatic hospital transfer! Her ability to find humor in anything and everything is also something that must be mentioned! My husband and I could not have made a more solid decision for our first baby, and I am confident we will be making the same decision when baby no. 2 comes along.

I highly recommend Lou Ann!! She was my doula two years ago and she will be again for my current pregnancy. Lou Ann is knowledgeable, caring, upbeat, and empathetic. She answered all my questions throughout my pregnancy and never left my side in labor. She was great with my husband throughout labor as well. Lou Ann will advocate for your wants and needs and be your voice when you need to be focused on getting that baby out. She is the best!
